If you haven't found anyone yet and you not liking the counslor is a big factor then look up the counseling theories. There are 11 of them, all counselors either go by a couple of them or they integrate some of them depending on who their client is. Read up on them, which ever one sounds good to you or you think would help you the most is the one you want. See if the counselor uses that specific method (or combination of methods).
my wife suffers with borderline schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder and depression and our relationship is suffering because of this and i reali want to help her but have no ware to turn does anyone else have same experience please message me.
This whole thing sucks. I lost my best friend to BPD when I knew what she had and would have cut off both arms for her. I would have done anything for her but the state doesn't care if we live or die. Most therapists are ultra conservative bookish wankers that understand nothing and get their backs up if you question anything. Took me 5 goes to find someone competent--and he is just fantastic. I don't have BPD and I find it upsetting, my heart goes out to those that do. Remember that we love you
I know this is two years ago , Id like to compliment you by saying I love your hair the color aand length and style also very pretty eyes your a beautiful girl . I like hearing what you are talking about ..I relate to it . You can communicate your feelings very well. I dont self injure .I have thought about suicide because I feel like no one understands my issues and I have had problems keeping a job , Most if not all people think I like to not work and jump from job to job but that is not
@MsJamesworld I haven't ever found a good doctor yet in all my years of looking! I am sure they exist somewhere (since I haven't seen every doctor in the world), but I think they're pretty hard to find! :)
Councillors are not qualified to help you. You need a specialist in PD's. It is BPD that is driving your depression and relationship problems. I feel for you, I have 3 friends with BPD and several others that struggle with OCPD. A.J. Mahari who is a recovered BPD does one hour phone councilling for $80.00 an hour. She has a chanel on youtube you may want to check out.
@mydarlinggirlrachae I know, I wish I could afford to see a specialist and not just a counselor, but with my meager insurance, all they allow is a few slim pickings as far as counselors go :( I think you're right, BPD really does affect relationships and depression! Hmm, I should check out the person you mentioned, I will do a search. Thank you for your advice and comment!
I totally empathize with you. I also have Borderline Personality Disorder and Major Depression. I can very very much relate to what you are saying. Best of Luck.
If you change your diet you will change your life. You don't need a counsler unless it is a dietition. Seriously, if you take good probiotics and get off the Coke, Pepsi, all corn syrup, bleached flour, and coffee you will cure your BPD, BiP, and many other injuries. Good luck, and you are brave to record your post. Meditate and know yourself.
I got bipolar II disorder and borderline, binge-eating issues and so on..I know how hard it is and i wish you all the best from my heart to yours!! Greeting from Germany and sorry - my english is not perfect :) <3
I can really relate, I live in Holland and I had to beg for a decent diagnose for over a year, still they haven't manged to do that. I feel like I am not being taken seriously.
im glad you shared your experiences. i was taking abnormal psych and came across this disorder and i said this is me! i have the same moods and behaviors in my relationships and it is very scary. i thought it was due to my diabetes, but it wasn't. i want to seek help, but like u said money is usually the problem and i have NO insurance...i do want help b/c this rollercoaster is horrible and everyone doesnt' want to ride it!!!!
You spoke about the difference between a counselor and a therapist. Both are terms for the same thing. However, counselor is usually used to refer to bachelor's level people where as therapist usually refers to a master's level clinician. Social Workers can be therapists with a Master's in Social Work. LCSW's (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) are some of the best therapists along with LMFT's (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy).
if you think borderline is a bad stigma try Schizophrenia. I was wrongly diagnosed even though I never heard voices are saw things that were not there. It turns out I have borderline something that is usually asscoiated with women. The bottom line is the human brain is unique between every person. You cant label anyone anything and be sure with today's medicine. But , for 10 years they said I was schizo gave me high does of harmful medication and shock treatment.
hey u seem like a nice girl well theres lots of us struggleing with problems if u ever need any chats my profile is a click away :) p.s watch my video plz x
I'ved been struggling with BPD with most of my life.Ever since 2005 when i was diganose with BPD I had an hard time accepting that i have it. Before that, my emotions was pretty choitic.During high school I started to lash out while playing basketball in Phys. Ed. I ended up going to the wash room and started to cry.By the summer of 2011 I started a new with a new life, an part-time job and countiounes threapy with my physc. Back in 2008-2010 i ceased all cuttings slashing of arm and wrist.
Fair play to you, and thanks for the info. Was diagnosed with bpd 3 weeks ago. Been suffering for the last 30 odd years, but never knew what was wrong. Been prescribed SSRI's for depression and waiting on a referral for therapy. Hopefully it will arrive soon. Hang in there.
I am diagnosed with Split Personality Disorder, but personally I feel it's more like Borderline as my meds keep the Split Personalities stable....can't win haha! I'm 38 years old and was only diagnosed last year after years of fighting with myself mentally. Thanks for your posts xsullengirlx it's great to hear from someone who is suffering the same symptoms....makes me feel 'normal' :/ xx
I'm living proof that there is a cure. I still have to be aware of what I am thinking, feeling and saying and it is very hard work, but can be overcome.
xsullengirlx, tried inboxing you. I can't figure things out very well lately. Some medical issue's going on. I'll get the info to you as soon as I am up and around.
Take care everyone. Don't let the idiotic people bother you, or try not to at least. That's their problem if they are judgmental. Don't take ownership of that, your better
Hey. I'm 21 and was diagnosed with BPD when I was 12. I always denied it until recently, since things have just been getting progressively worse. I'm trying to find a therapist right now, but I don't have insurance or money [both my family and I are battling homelessness]. I hope you posted those BPD videos, I'm very interested. :] I hope you found something out there.
I am a male and just diagnosed with BPD. Everyone thinks only females have it but that is so untrue. New finding say its about 50/50. Great. Video! I can recommend some great books. U are NOT alone
Uprated. I had to leave the USA in '94 to get healthcare. I feel sure my mother has BPD. I live in a Communist city and therapists are generally free or low cost. It has taken years to build relationships with 'em but it's been very revealing. It appears I am ok mentally but a victim of various mentally ill persons! So therapy is very important. BPD people do not generally need meds & tough love does not work. They are suffering yet toxic! Brava! Greetings from France.
@slobomotion Oh wow, you moved to France from the USA? I have been considering something similar, after being fed up with not only health care, but the whole system here in America as of late. Seems the smartest thing to do, right now. I totally understand that sometimes mentally ill people can victimize and make you feel a bit crazy yourself, though not all with BPD are toxic. Glad you got away from your personal situation though. :) Take care!
@xsullengirlx I have a ton of vids up on YT and on Dailymotion, and a website. Free info! I do a lot from the disabled expat POV and am a consultant for people who wish to expatriate, among other things (I have an arts and sciences BG and a great CV). At the very least, you might be entertained by some of my clips. I try to vary them. I will sub you! xo
@xsullengirlx I do two channels on YT and do Dailymotion, too. I just do this as a short term hobby so do not edit nor provide links. People can either find me via my website or not. I am totally sympathetic to your situation. You could probably be sorted out in a relatively short period of time, but will this be likely to happen? NOOOOOO! You'd probably do well with a personal servant/assistant. I know it sounds crazy, but dandies who did this in the past were considered quite proper.
Would I be correct in guessing that you reside in Tx? The TX in your username. It might work out for you like it has been for me. I became my own best therapist, because mental health care is a joke in Tx. NC had the best, but I prefer to live in Tx. I went to the library and read every book I could get my hands on for my disorders. PTSD, BPD, Panic/Anxiety, derealization/depersonalization. I suppose that I endured too much trauma. 2 of my sisters committed suicide less than 3 years apart.
@UniverseOffspring hahahaha....As if I would ever look twice at you! Crazy bitch or not, I do have standards and trust me, you don't meet them. Have fun fucking your hand! ;)
@UniverseOffspring Of course I don't, because you don't have the balls to put videos up and put yourself out there for people to make derogatory comments to you! As if what you said was a hilarious joke? Learn to be respectful of women, and maybe someday you won't have to troll around youtube telling girls you don't even know that you'd fuck them! Troll and be trolled my friend, I respond to shit with shit. :)
firstly you have to have courage to face you inner problem and take responsibilty for your action....I ssuggest jungain pyschologist ..of mature age....firstly you must take responsible for you chooses in your life...That is the first step...which is hard for BPD people....think about your projection you put on to others...start owning your projections......you are not crazy please.... you have problems with loving yourself ...and faith in yourself.. You can overcomes this but not over night..
My mother is a histrionic, has been since she was younger than you. Then, by a car accident she became paralyzed.
I have a hard time empathizing with her symptoms, she is very difficult. I have to explain her condition to everyone she meets. She has even told people that I'm "crazy'' not her. I hope I'm not alone, dealing with this.
I see that this post is 2 years old, so I hope you are getting better. So sorry you struggle with this. Thank you for your articulate and honest sharing. I wonder if DBT helps, or whether when you are in a bad state you are too "in it" to use something like that?
Please look at the YouTube video labeled: "Ram Dass interviews Thicht Nhat Hanh". These wise men talk about anger and impermanence but the things they say could somehow apply to your search:
Take care and never forget that you are not alone in your work. Thank you for sharing some of your experience. May you soon find peace, love, and happiness.
People, including therapists, can give you advice and "treatment" but the ultimate answer is deep inside us. The best therapists and gurus only help us to find the answers within. The mind is vulnerable and temporary. But our true, essential self lives in eternity and has all the answers we need. That self is usually a quiet witness to our lives but it is our true nature and it is immune to fear, pain and suffering. That is the place in us where true love comes from and our purpose in life.
oh my you guys, I've just read a few of the post, but had to stop. What is all this bashing and misunderstandings? To ciaobellakate, you are so misguided in your thoughts and opinions. Whether you got your information from "reliable sources." You certainly, need to seriously listen not just with your ears but with your mind. I have 13 years of experience with this, yeah you are way off. Yes, BPD is controllable to a certain extent, but no, they can't control all of their behaviours.
and to compare Borderlines in the same comments with phedophiles, that doesn't need anything more to be said. But to clarify that for you, being a phedophile in an illness to and no they can't suppress their urges. We need stronger laws for that, which is another topic. But people, you need to stop commenting on things you don't know about. That is where stigima starts. For those who don't understand, it is a constant battle inside the mind of a person with a mental illness, if not treated
They developed a 10 week course at the Mercantile Health Centre in Saint John, NB that helps you overcome the symptoms. It is emotionally very draining, but once you are finished you feel so much better. I started the Program in April 2011 and I am still working on myself and it is a daily process that can be exhausting at times. I have brief moments that I just want to give up, but they are fleeting. I don't know if there is a way to contact you personally through youtube, ran out of spac
@kimberlyevans100 You can send me a message via youtube if you want, just go to my home page and there should be a place to click send me a private message. thank you :) I have been also wading through all the negative comments and removing the ones I thought could be offensive to other people with BPD, its hard to keep up with the comments but I am trying to, thank you for alerting me to some I had missed.
Hi.. just want to subjest dbt it help.. you will talk about reltionships and its was made for ppl w/ bpd.. also there are a lot of places that go on a sliding fee.. you can call a a help line or 211 tob find one near you
it should be about 65 an hpour , no more, for a licensed therapist, 120 an hour is Doctor money. Have you actually been tested and interviewed by a Psychologist?.this is the start, try not to go with a psychiatrist at first because they are always tending towards repeatative therpy
no matter what problems you have, and are very secretive about diagnosis', they wikll use braod terms and not shoot straight to the point. Whereas a Psychologist is a medical Doctor who can prescribe real treatments and medicines, psychiatrists can just request your family doctor prescribe somethings, and thus your treatment goes thru several channels and often none are on the same page. Good luck, I understand your concerns, plus I work with people in my job who suffer a varity of problems
Hi - This is a brave post. Thanks for helping reduce the stigma of mental illness. And thanks for bringing up how increasingly difficult for US citizens it is to find accessible, affordable mental heath care. Insurance is cutting back on their pay-outs, yet licensed therapists go thru alot of training, internships and licensing hoops, and need to maintain offices, liability insurance, utilities, etc. I hope you can find the treatment you need. thanks, Kathy
This is a brave post. I understand that BDP is having you do and think things about yourself and others that you don't necessarily agree with. I was wondering how you have managed all this time to keep moving forward despite BDP's attempts to convince you otherwise.
Had a fiancee with BPD. Thought our relationship was better after proposing to her after a year of on again, off again trials. I love Sarah very much. She's an amazing person. Breakups occured at silent periods. I know guys don't talk about feelings. We're poor listeners. One time that took place, she really needed it, it really helped her. There are videos associated with yours, but they're on the professional side and not about the sufferer. I really don't understand all of the complexities?
Thank you for sharing. I wish I had ur courage to put it out there like you do. Trust me I understand your struggle. I wish you all the luck in the world. I'm in Canada, our health care is free, unless u see someone privately, then u need insurance. Which is bs, it should all be free. No matter where you live. We didn't choose it, we r just trying to deal with it. If someone has a physically illness, it's completely different. What they don't understand is, it hurts just as much.
I have been stressing out like crazy since my son was about a year pld and Oh My gosh I do all of that to the T and I do keep blaming everyone around me and I have pushed out of my closets family I had no idea this was a disorder until right now the hole time i felt like they were doing me worng but now that i look at it it not a big deal but its kinda to late now i live thousand and thousand miles away with my son and husband but i still am stressing i need to relax and talkabout it.
the good thing about BDP is that unlike other mental illnesses, you are very articulate, and even any ordinary person could relate to the feelings, but just not to the extremes of anxiety, abandonment fear, anger, etc. that BDP sufferers go through. I hope you all find the thing that works for you. I was reading in Time today that there have been successes with its treatment in therapy lately, despite the fact that it was long believed to be impossible to help in therapy. Good luck
hey darlin, it's a long and tiring road, there are days it gets easier and there are moments you feel you will NEVER pull through, moments you are so alone you'll feel you'll never feel the touch of another human being again, moments you'll crumble with anger and then laugh... and this is all before the morning coffee haha but you just keep on truckin' along and try your hardest :) all the best x
Hi I'm Ali and I'm 16 and I have BPD. I have been through the self injuring the hospitalization basically the whole nine yards. I am currently seeing a phsychiatrist and a therapist and without them I would not be here today. I'm still strugling with my problem. I have only been diagnosed for about almost four years. My parents played a big part with helping me too. I'm not better not by a longshot but I'm the happiest I've ever been today. You'll find the right therapist. :) Good luck.
you extremely fast get "good" friends and extremely lose them, why? you are trying to fill the emptyness you feel, and why you fill emptyness? because you have mood swings, and that makes you get bored really fast with anything. here can help you just litium to get you on the line with moons, but its dangerous drog and you risk. bpd sucks
Waht's amazing too is when you walk in the room and in the first five minutes you realise you know more than they do. I'm looking for ways for suicide...Helium vs. CO
Where do you live? Maybe you could get some referrels if we know where you live. A *friend* canNOT help you (I can't believe someone would suggest that - geeeezzz)... it does take professional help. I'm married to a BPD and he is EXACTLY as described in the book "Stop Walking on Eggshells". My daughter is a psychotherapist and she said there are only a few therapists who can work with Borderlines because they are so difficult. Keep you chin up sweetie.
Thanks for the advise! We have always had a really strained relationship. She knows but she threw me out because I had a bad spell and she wasn't having it anymore. Thanks though!!! X
and what i meant by pshychiatrists dont dee bpd as a mental illness was my last shrink was old and thy dont have the knowledge on how to deal with personality disorders, it is a mental illness in the uk but they just see us as difficult wanting attention they should live in our mind for a day and they'd understand
@missdarkangelxxx To be clear, you mean to OTHER people who have commented, don't say it doesnt exist. Of course me, who made the video, knows it exists worldwide. I am sorry you have to go through it. Take care.
@xsullengirlx i think i have been misunderstood ,,,, i have been diagnosed with bpd but as i say pshychiatrists who are older over here dont see us as mentally ill , the younger ones do
@missdarkangelxxx Oh yeah I see what you mean, yeah I have had that problem too. Seems like the younger ones are more knowledgeable about BPD, whereas older ones sometimes don't know much about it. It's frustrating and makes it really hard to get help!
@xsullengirlx I just wanted to say thanks for sharing. I have just been diagnosed with BPD and I am really struggling to figure out who and what I am at the moment. Strength in numbers so it is good to see someone I can relate to.
Firstly t y for sharing your honest, courageous video with us. I 2 have BP & BPD. Mostly would say I struggle with fear, anger-> anxiety, sadness. ls 'Ground Hog Day daily and wake suffering. I use therapies, programs, tools, Cognitive(CBT),dialectical(DBT),12 steps, slogans,REcovery Inc.faith, peer chat 2 cope. Not alone. Talk with us. Black/white thinking, relationship problems common with us, I left MSW 2. Need 1 with BPD,trauma experience. Google Artzstuf,Closer to SANE for more info, Peace,
I can empathise with you. I reckon all anyone sees is the pretty woman..I mean how can someone pretty have problems??? Noone sees the girl inside whose hurting
If you really believe you have BPD, then I have a simple cure for you. You can move to another part of the world. BPD does not exist in some countries because their mental health system does not use the DSM-IV as their bible.
@DVDluvr123 At first I thought you were a good-natured commenter with an open-mind and a willingness to bounce ideas off each other. I am always up for debates, but obviously with your comments becoming increasingly close-minded, ignorant and hostile, I was wrong. You my friend ARE in the wrong here, and you're proving it with every comment. I am done with this conversation, please take your close-mindedness someplace else, this is not the place for it when real people are suffering. Thanks.
Borderline Personality Disorder did not exist prior to 1980. That was when it was established as a disorder by the American Psychological Association (APA). Their process for establishing a disorder is by voting. A psychologist will put some traits and/or symptoms together into a set. Then the APA members vote on it. If more than half of them vote “Yes”, then it is called a disorder.
@DVDluvr123 It doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Lots of things existed before there were names for them. Yes, sometimes BPD is clumped together and lots of people can be put in that category... but I know without a doubt I do have it, it is very real to those who suffer, and it is much different than other disorders, for example bipolar disorder. Thanks for the interesting comment :)
@xsullengirlx The point is that personality disorders are not “discovered” like an illness. There are “established” purely based on opinion through a majority vote by a group of psychologists who are going to get very wealthy “treating” these new disorders that they establish. It's like when congress votes to give themselves a raise. Sorry, I'm not convinced that BPD exists.
@DVDluvr123 I didn't ask what your point was, I understand what you said in your first comment. I respect your opinion. However, I am convinced it exists since I clearly suffer from it, and thousands of people who have watched this video alone do, too. So, it's a matter of opinion and in this case; experience. You have a right to what you believe.
@xsullengirlx I believe that chicken pox, influenza, bone fractures, skin abrasions, and appendicitis exist because their existence can be proven. The existence of Borderline Personality Disorder cannot proven. As you said it is a matter of opinion whether or not you want to believe in it. As for me, I believe there is a sucker born every minute and lots of psychologists to control their lives and take their money.
@DVDluvr123 But chicken pox, flu, bone fractures, abrasions, appendicitis aren't MENTAL ILLNESS, there can not be a huge comparison between those things and things like BPD, Bipolar, Depression, Anxiety etc etc etc, because the symptoms a lot of time are mental (some physical, but mostly mental) & not "seen". It's up to you what YOU believe, but mental illness certainly does exist and it is only close-minded and inexperienced non-empathetic people who insist it doesn't exist. End of.
i remember watching this aaages ago and thinking, 'this really sounds like me'. i was very depressed at the time and i went to my doctor and asked about bpd. he laughed at me, he actually LAUGHED. which really hurt. so i dismissed it too. after about a year, 1 suicide attempt, a psychiatric hospital admission and much chaos. i got this diagnosis. and i feel relieved tbh. now the monster has a name i feel like i can fight it. thanks for sharing about bpd! xxxx
@chrisbx1975x what makes you say that? I'd really like to hear your reasoning. Not your attempt at hurting my feelings (you won't), but honestly what makes you think that. What in this video did I say for you to draw those conclusions? If you're going to say that, you should back it up.
@chrisbx1975x Oh that was a REALLY witty response, I can't believe it took you an entire week to come up with that one. Yes, because being fat really makes someone a narcissist and a psychopath. You look like such an idiot, I'll leave your comment up so everyone can laugh at you.
Geez i can relate, My last therapist Was in her late sixties and was starting to get alzheimer's, She would just keep getting more and more loopy, Like for instance I'd meet with her on Friday and she'd call me the next day on Saturday wondering when our next appointment was or if i even came in the day before. haha I just stopped going to her after Three years of seeing her four times a week. It's so hard finding a good person to go to!
It must be quite hard as i'm in the uk and we dont really have to pay for therapists we get it on the nhs, whether they do any good , is a different matter!
Alot of pshychiatrists in the uk dont see bpd as a mental illness and see us as "difficult" i've noticed the younger psychiatrists have alot more time and knowledge of the borderline personality disorder.
@missdarkangelxxx BPD was established as disorder in the United States by the American Psychological Association. It doesn't exist in the entire world yet.
i am going through the same thing now but for me I don't know if it's because the therapists suck or I am pushing them away because of Bpd and I go back and forth about this in mi mind to the point of madness anyways thank u for sharing it's good to know someone else has had the same issues with therapists
I'm pretty sure one of my ex-best friends had BPD. She had anorexia, I heard. And her personality was very volatile and confusing. Like one moment she would be angry at me for something and the next she would be acting so sweet and nice. You seem like a nice person... I think bpd's are nice despite their "bad behaviours"
I have borderline personality disorder, and I have pushed my family away to the point where I am living with friends because my mum has gad enough of me. And because she doesn't know about it or my self injury she put it down to me being a stroppy teenager. I really want to tell her the truth but every time I try to words fail me and I end up in such a low. Any suggestions xxxx
@XxXsweetsiveyxXx I am a mother of a daughter with bpd. If you feel that your mom would be understanding and not reject what you are going to tell her I would definitely consider telling her. It sounds as though the two of your's relationship is strained right now, so I would start by trying to connect with her on some level. The best way for your mom to be receptive is for you to start out humble, open, and honest. Tell her how scared you are and that you would like her help.
Our relationship with ourselves is more important than anything. We have to take care our emotional psychological physical&spiritual health.Learning about ourselves can help.Thinking reflecting&analysing can give us self knowledge.Tells us about our emotional needs our strengths&weaknesses. Why &what makes us feel in certain ways.Once we've the knowledge we can learn how to manage them.Self control®ulation can help us gain control to manage our weak points&build up our strengths.Makes sense?x
@somesoughtofgermon he hasn't reformed health care, he said he would but then he flaked out on it, so it's helping no one.... hopefully it will eventually.
Your video's are really comforting, thanks for taking the time to make them! I recently "found out" I have BPD myself (somehow I always knew) and it's nice to know I'm not the only one that's going through this. Looking forward to your future video's! *subscribes*
Its like love and hate pulling at eachother, and the whole pushing ppl you love out of your life ist like to prove that they won't stay that they dnt really care, and then when they leave your all alone. I'm dealing with this and I think that I do have Borderline Personality Disorder, I'm trying to tell ppl about my problem but no one is listening, my parents, no one is taking me seriously...Theres something wrong with me and no one cares :\
My sister has BPD. Read the book Stop Walking on Eggshells. It is a revelation. I hope things are going well with you and the fact that you are so self aware is a really positive step.
p.s It's even worse when you have doctors who diagnosed you with bipolar for 3 years and have put you on almost every mood stabilzer and anti-psychotic going and nothing works but thankyou sullengirl u have made me feel less lonely today hugs xoxox
Yes us 'pretty people' are apparently fine and dandy... okay so if that is so why do i feel the need to slice my arms open everyday and starve myself and yep I have borderline or as my doctor in the UK likes to call it Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder. I'm pretty much almost homeless cos I've ruined the relationships with my family I can't work cos I was raped and am too scared of other people and frankly I'm sick of wanting to die for the last 8 years (I'm 18). It sucks... BAD! :'(
IF YOU'RE PRETTY, YOU CAN'T HAVE MENTAL PROBLEMS. WHy do so many people assume this? fuck all of you guys that say "you're pretty you shouldn't commit suicide you're pretty you shouldn't cut you're pretty you shouldn't be deprssed" oh ok. so now that im pretty, i should be all happy like a fucking beauty commercial. right. sorry i forgot. only ugly people can be sad. because beign attractive is the best thing to happen and the healer of all emotions. sorry i forgot. ill go buy some make up .
@laurag333 @ Laura to those who have said that, I wouldn't even give to shits about them if i were you. People are really fucking simple minded. We are all human, no one whether if they were pretty or not will have problems. There is no catagory, and instead of people being there to try to understand and help, they're ignorant to they're going to make their own assumptions. I am there for you and to anyone else who are going through something you have to control over.
@xsullengirlx This has helped me so much! I'm glad to see another person who is "normal" and is struggling with BPD. My parents freaked out when they heard the diagnosis, and I'm glad to know there is hope :)
@Wiplala100 Looks are very deceiving. I've seen perfectly healthy looking people suffering from later stage cancers. It happened with a friend of mine.
In any case, you never know what is going on inside of a person. This disorder is like a raging storm in your brain and hard to get under control. It especially flares up if you have to change medication or some very stressful life circumstances pop up.
Sullengirl, I sympathize. For the past few days, BPD has been wreaking havoc w/me.
I've recently been diagnosed with this and it really sucks, its apparently isn't common around people my age but ughh I keep being made fun of for all the things wrong with me.
"I hate you don't leave me" is like the best word to describe it.
Nope, I'm not hiding n my closet. Firstly, I can only use a doctor in my own province so quote the number of doctors you claim across Canada is irrelevant.
Secondly, I can only really see a doctor in my own city so that's the number that I'm actually dealing with and of that number, whatever it is, every time I call or go to a hospital, they always that they're not taking any new patients.
I don't think you thought things out when you wrote your comment. Next time, don't bother
you never will get it... dont be surprised if ppl with BPD lash out @ you either... Your Ex had a rage problem, that dont make her BPD. Half my family has rage, though im the only BPD in the house... Nobody seeks help BEOFRE they have to, whats to fix before you screw it up? GOD i could really light into your ignorance for hours
its a choice! chose to let it beat you or not! aye its hard work day in day out but you can retrain your brain to think differently! you can chose to omit alcohol and have early nights and generally look after yourself, which helps!!...you can keep down a professional job with it, you can function but you have to stop expecting others to fix you you have to take part of the responsibility at learning to manage it and being more mindful on behaviours and what triggers it ....
I´ve BPS. Most people with BPS try it so long without help, they think they can overgrew it. Also has the definition of bps changed since the 80´s, therapies grow better, not all use the better methods, you don´t find a click or are not taken seriously by the therapists. I´m in therapy for more then 2 years now but was not taken serious. Now I did find a good place in the netherlands and they are going to help me thank god! I wish all of you the best in looking for help
Hi Sullen Girl, This is my first time responding to a video from you. I'm impressed that the comments are mostly 'paragraphs' rather than a sentence or two. Somebody is listening to you. You said that since you've been doing YouTube (2-3 yr) you haven't had a therapist/counselor thats done you any good. If you believe that, consider this: It's your life, it's up to you to do yourself the good and make the changes you're faced with. Nobody else can do it for you, not me, not even a therapist
@vanessahofmeyr Get used to it. Remember that there's a whole glossary out there that people can read and get incredibly personal details about you. Once they know them, they'll begin to analyze you. My - separated - wife knows thus far and that's IT. Be weary of who you tell. You want to make certain they'll use the information in order to be a better friend, or a better partner to you. Most will abuse it unwittingly as the majority of people are ignorant, bloody idiots.
this was a really helpful video to watch. i work in a women's shelter and how you described your relationships at times really helped me to understand the behaviour of a particular client - that i care about alot. i didn't understand the ups and downs and "you are my friend" and "you never cared about me before". i get it more now so thanks for being so honest and open on here. i hope you are doing well because you have alot to offer.
You are are spot on with your description of BPD. I have BPD so I can totally understand where you are coming from. I hope things get better for you ....it is rough I know. Take care and best of wishes to you...your not alone!!!
@Wiplala100 A lot of people who have had experience dating someone with BPD have very strong opinions on how it affects people, though I am in a long term relationship and I have had to really work on myself and my BPD behaviors to save it. I think people with BPD can self reflect, but it's so hard that many give up and choose not to. Its very harrowing. Its so hard on the people who love someone with BPD, and hard on the one who suffers from it, maybe more than they let on. It can seem hopeless
@xsullengirlx I don't go to therapy but I love to force myself to self-reflect, understand the world and all things. I'm a thinker I suppose and I believe it has been a saving attribute. I notice I seem to do better than some insofar as reason and rationality. Ah, but I do take a high dose of a mood stabilizer. I found you talking about the importance of reflection interesting as I've known many in therapy for 5+ yrs who made little to no progress as they didn't reflect on their own therapy!
@xsullengirlx I have one who has BPD. I've tried to make others but they were too erratic and ended up going funny on me which made me sympathize for once with those who have to interact with... us, I suppose. I still say I regulate mine pretty well. Or, the BPD+BPD ended up amplifying our respective PD's. Anyway, this one friend I have is an exception I believe as she's been in therapy for 10 years, and also reflects strongly on her therapy and herself. So a combination does amazing things.
@Wiplala100 Well, if you haven't struggled with BPD then you wouldn't probably "get" BPD, it's hard for even people going through it and therapists to understand sometimes. Its hard to treat because of that. But make sure to not generalize people, not all people with BPD ruin lives, and not all wait to get treatment. Some people also don't have access to proper treatment (I for one do not, but try other methods). People may be attractive but its not a reflection of their mental health. Take care
@xsullengirlx acctractive looking you can,t see it at the outside i,m,not, borderliner but bipolair no,one can see it of course doesn,t mean this desease is always easy when they can,t find excacly good medication a good psychiatrist will work better common were not crazie
we gotta help, eachother listening patientenavonden, voorlichting ,to contact eachother try to talk about what are 2borderlinekenmerken type 2 b manic depressed also can someone tell me please ok it,s not a real shrink who said it i didn,t believe her they can say all stupid stuff if you all believe they say common were most sensitieve humans angel
Keep it up, you are a beautiful and smart woman, youll you find the help you need, This is an awesome step you are taking, I simply admire you. Kisses from Argentina.
I agree with you on councellors here in the uk we dont get treatment they just leave us and the councellor i was seeing said she doesnt think bpd is a mental illness and doesnt agree thats depression is a mental illness.
Hello Ma'am..the 53 year old..in my experience..a great one is not necessarily the most expensive. As far as frequency a good one will space the meetings when she or he sees the crisis is subsiding....I wish you the best of luck. As well, if you have a good psychiatrist...he can recommend a good one for you based on his evaluation of your needs. Take care :-)
I hope this helps.

She has a chanel on youtube you may want to check out.
mydarlinggirlrachae 1 week ago
@mydarlinggirlrachae I know, I wish I could afford to see a specialist and not just a counselor, but with my meager insurance, all they allow is a few slim pickings as far as counselors go :( I think you're right, BPD really does affect relationships and depression! Hmm, I should check out the person you mentioned, I will do a search. Thank you for your advice and comment!

My name is Vinko Rajic , I can use telepathy , I am maybe the only person that can use telepathy all the time , send
and receive voice and video on distance of few kilometer. It works all the time and 100% correct.
I think it is important for science and human kind to make research on my brain and find out how this works.
My telepathy manifest itself exact like "Schneider's first-rank symptoms".

if you think borderline is a bad stigma try Schizophrenia.

Solution for Bpd is surely Hypnotherapy, cus i had BPD for 6 years, tried all the things, but nothing had result.
Hypnotherapy can access your memory, and with a long session cure the BPD.

Brava! Greetings from France.
slobomotion 2 months ago
@slobomotion Oh wow, you moved to France from the USA? I have been considering something similar, after being fed up with not only health care, but the whole system here in America as of late. Seems the smartest thing to do, right now. I totally understand that sometimes mentally ill people can victimize and make you feel a bit crazy yourself, though not all with BPD are toxic. Glad you got away from your personal situation though. :) Take care!

You can overcomes this but not over night..

That is the place in us where true love comes from and our purpose in life.
jayposey 2 months ago
oh my you guys, I've just read a few of the post, but had to stop. Yes, BPD is controllable to a certain extent, but no, they can't control all of their behaviours.
kimberlyevans100 2 months ago
and to compare Borderlines in the same comments with phedophiles, that doesn't need anything more to be said. But to clarify that for you, being a phedophile in an illness to and no they can't suppress their urges. We need stronger laws for that, which is another topic. But people, you need to stop commenting on things you don't know about. That is where stigima starts. For those who don't understand, it is a constant battle inside the mind of a person with a mental illness, if not treated

it should be about 65 an hpour , no more, for a licensed therapist, 120 an hour is Doctor money. Have you actually been tested and interviewed by a Psychologist?.this is the start, try not to go with a psychiatrist at first because they are always tending towards repeatative therpy
THEMASTEROFYOU2000 3 months ago
no matter what problems you have, and are very secretive about diagnosis', they wikll use braod terms and not shoot straight to the point.

I really don't understand all of the complexities?

the good thing about BDP is that unlike other mental illnesses, you are very articulate, and even any ordinary person could relate to the feelings, but just not to the extremes of anxiety, abandonment fear, anger, etc. that BDP sufferers go through. I hope you all find the thing that works for you. I was reading in Time today that there have been successes with its treatment in therapy lately, despite the fact that it was long believed to be impossible to help in therapy. Good luck

@xsullengirlx i think i have been misunderstood ,,,, i have been diagnosed with bpd but as i say pshychiatrists who are older over here dont see us as mentally ill , the younger ones do
missdarkangelxxx 5 months ago
@missdarkangelxxx Oh yeah I see what you mean, yeah I have had that problem too. Seems like the younger ones are more knowledgeable about BPD, whereas older ones sometimes don't know much about it. It's frustrating and makes it really hard to get help!

@xsullengirlx I just wanted to say thanks for sharing. I have just been diagnosed with BPD and I am really struggling to figure out who and what I am at the moment. Strength in numbers so it is good to see someone I can relate to.

If you really believe you have BPD, then I have a simple cure for you. You can move to another part of the world. BPD does not exist in some countries because their mental health system does not use the DSM-IV as their bible.
DVDluvr123 5 months ago
@DVDluvr123 At first I thought you were a good-natured commenter with an open-mind and a willingness to bounce ideas off each other. I am always up for debates, but obviously with your comments becoming increasingly close-minded, ignorant and hostile, I was wrong. You my friend ARE in the wrong here, and you're proving it with every comment. I am done with this conversation, please take your close-mindedness someplace else, this is not the place for it when real people are suffering. Thanks.
xsullengirlx 5 months ago 4
Borderline Personality Disorder did not exist prior to 1980. That was when it was established as a disorder by the American Psychological Association (APA). Their process for establishing a disorder is by voting. A psychologist will put some traits and/or symptoms together into a set. Then the APA members vote on it. If more than half of them vote “Yes”, then it is called a disorder.
DVDluvr123 5 months ago
@DVDluvr123 It doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Lots of things existed before there were names for them. Yes, sometimes BPD is clumped together and lots of people can be put in that category... but I know without a doubt I do have it, it is very real to those who suffer, and it is much different than other disorders, for example bipolar disorder. Thanks for the interesting comment :)
xsullengirlx 5 months ago
@xsullengirlx The point is that personality disorders are not “discovered” like an illness. There are “established” purely based on opinion through a majority vote by a group of psychologists who are going to get very wealthy “treating” these new disorders that they establish. It's like when congress votes to give themselves a raise. Sorry, I'm not convinced that BPD exists.
DVDluvr123 5 months ago
@DVDluvr123 I didn't ask what your point was, I understand what you said in your first comment. I respect your opinion. However, I am convinced it exists since I clearly suffer from it, and thousands of people who have watched this video alone do, too. So, it's a matter of opinion and in this case; experience. You have a right to what you believe.
xsullengirlx 5 months ago
@xsullengirlx I believe that chicken pox, influenza, bone fractures, skin abrasions, and appendicitis exist because their existence can be proven. The existence of Borderline Personality Disorder cannot proven. As you said it is a matter of opinion whether or not you want to believe in it. As for me, I believe there is a sucker born every minute and lots of psychologists to control their lives and take their money.
DVDluvr123 5 months ago
@DVDluvr123 But chicken pox, flu, bone fractures, abrasions, appendicitis aren't MENTAL ILLNESS, there can not be a huge comparison between those things and things like BPD, Bipolar, Depression, Anxiety etc etc etc, because the symptoms a lot of time are mental (some physical, but mostly mental) & not "seen". It's up to you what YOU believe, but mental illness certainly does exist and it is only close-minded and inexperienced non-empathetic people who insist it doesn't exist. End of.

i remember watching this aaages ago and thinking, 'this really sounds like me'. i was very depressed at the time and i went to my doctor and asked about bpd. he laughed at me, he actually LAUGHED. which really hurt. so i dismissed it too. after about a year, 1 suicide attempt, a psychiatric hospital admission and much chaos. i got this diagnosis. and i feel relieved tbh. now the monster has a name i feel like i can fight it. thanks for sharing about bpd! xxxx

This is not bpd. This person is a psychopath and narcissist.
chrisbx1975x 6 months ago
@chrisbx1975x what makes you say that? I'd really like to hear your reasoning. Not your attempt at hurting my feelings (you won't), but honestly what makes you think that. What in this video did I say for you to draw those conclusions? If you're going to say that, you should back it up.

It's so hard finding a good person to go to!
noogey89 6 months ago
It must be quite hard as i'm in the uk and we dont really have to pay for therapists we get it on the nhs, whether they do any good , is a different matter!
Alot of pshychiatrists in the uk dont see bpd as a mental illness and see us as "difficult" i've noticed the younger psychiatrists have alot more time and knowledge of the borderline personality disorder.
missdarkangelxxx 6 months ago

Mujangga 7 months ago
@Mujangga Are you joking!? There are about 68,000 doctors in Canada and you can't find even one of them? Are you hiding in your closet?
DVDluvr123 5 months ago
@DVDluvr123
Next time, don't bother

its a choice! chose to let it beat you or not! aye its hard work day in day out but you can retrain your brain to think differently! you can chose to omit alcohol and have early nights and generally look after yourself, which helps!!...you can keep down a professional job with it, you can function but you have to stop expecting others to fix you you have to take part of the responsibility at learning to manage it and being more mindful on behaviours and what triggers it ....

It can seem hopeless
xsullengirlx 7 months ago 5
@xsullengirlx I don't go to therapy but I love to force myself to self-reflect, understand the world and all things. I'm a thinker I suppose and I believe it has been a saving attribute. I notice I seem to do better than some insofar as reason and rationality. Ah, but I do take a high dose of a mood stabilizer. I found you talking about the importance of reflection interesting as I've known many in therapy for 5+ yrs who made little to no progress as they didn't reflect on their own therapy!
subtrafusel 7 months ago

Take care
