I have a bootleg video of them in a club from 1983 that I purchased that same year. Right after they came off tour with Blondie, before 7&RT blew up. They played this, Come Up and See Me (Make Me Smile), Faster Than Light, and Late Bar. They played this live as well in Atlanta in 2002. The one song I wish I could have always heard live, though, was Secret Oktober. Now THAT'S a tune.
This has always been one of my favorite B-sides. God, this song, performed by either Bowie or Duran, makes me want to smoke a cigarette, and I quit about 12 years ago!
I always liked David Bowie's "FAME", and Duran Duran just made it stand out more for me!!! This version is not better, it's just different, and differences are not always a negative thing!!! Great Guys,Great Work-xxx
Oh MY GOD!! I used to have this on a 12 inch single and someone stole it from me!!! That was like 25 years ago!!! THANK YOU!!! I haven't heard it since then!!!
This song is currently available on a number of CDs. The easiest to obtain is the boxset of singles 81-85. It pulls all of their singles and the original 45 RPM jackets & artwork (& the B-Sides) I believe it's 13 CDs. The other is a B-Side compilation, (I believe) put together by a fan group in Russia. Both of them can be found on E-Bay rather cheeply. you could go to duranduranDOTno to find an MP3 of the song until then. But I do HIGHLY SUGGEST you get CDs. the B-Sides are AMAZING!
Cool video. I love Duran Duran and I think they did a great job of covering this song. I like it better than Bowie's original. They are so cute especially John & Nick... but it seems like alot of people fail to realize how talented they are as well as good looking.
Good cover of a david bowie classic. like theirs and david's.
