  • Take your 25k and buy a used 350z/370z and get a real car, this thing is a rear wheel drive scion tC with 20 more HP.

  • I use to have high hopes for this car. but its so far from the Concept model... I will pass... And yes im aware that cars change from the concept but I feel they had it right with the concept.

  • @euricdinkins i totally agree, look nothing like the concept. very disappointed with the turn out.

  • how does a car have 47/50 weight distribution?

  • I used to follow this car like 2 years ago. Now I dont seem to be that interested seeing the final concept.

  • I hate Toyota but this car is making me like it. How much do you think it'll be priced?

  • perfect distribution of 47/50????? u mean 47/53? just saying bro

  • ill buy one and take everything that says scion and replace it with toyota

  • How much will this car cost? I looked it up on google and someone said 25,000 and If that's true. I'm totally getting it. but it sounds a little to good to be true. Please tell me! Thanks.

  • @JoshGonzales512 well if its badged as scion then yeah it probably will be around that much or maby a little more

  • @JoshGonzales512 That sounds like a very reasonable price, if it were to be more than that, toyota would probably put it with Lexus not Scion. Remember this has 200 horsepower which isn't that much, so $25k sounds about right

  • shoulda called it trueno =)

  • @freshprincehybrid no levin trueno has the flip up lights

  • my first car :)

  • if this doesnt come out soon, im gonna buy a gti. Im tired of waiting when is/are it/they coming out?

  • @richie2nice Hey, i just came from a car show and I asked them, it will come out this spring (2012).

  • looks like 2000 hyundai tiburon

  • I like how in the description, it says there's a 47/50 weight distribution. The other 3 percent must be a dealer option

  • but can it drift?

  • The interior looks pretty bland...

  • What happened to the LF-A styled tail lights?

  • Does anyone know if the TOYOTA badged version will go on the US market? I know they said "The Toyota 86 GT will go on the us market, possibly wearing a Scion badge." but does that mean the Toyota will absolutely NOT be going in the us? I'm just not a very big scion fan. And no I dont want to buy it on steroids(SUBARU). I'll import the fucker if i have to.

  • @TylerWestaway Its comming only as a Scion. And to be honest who cares? You know its a Toyota so whats the difference? Just badge it as a Toyota if it bothers you that much.

  • @TylerWestaway I came for a car expo today and they said it will come out with scion badge and subaru in the US . Toyota will no have it here in the US

  • IT screams toyota celica all over the sheet metal. Am very disappointed in the bland 2004 revised celica. The concept was 100 times a work of art on wheels.

  • Holy crap that's nice!!!!

  • Small and short like the old Miata which will be the perfect go-cart on the streets of America. With just 200hp to offer for the same price as the 2013 Genesis coupe with 350hp, no thanks. You going to see a bunch of high school brats driving this because of the fuel sufficient, but I will be dusting them by with my new Genesis Coupe 2013 hahahahhahaha!!!!

  • I have a question so the concept one from scion will not ever be released ? i like the scion frs that came out at the la auto show but this one i dont like so much can anyone please tell me if they will ever release the concept version ?

  • Price tag is $24,000 for either model. I'm a Subaru Impreza coupe owner right now (1999, normally aspirated) and I can't wait for these to hit dealerships! The sports car is reborn!

  • @SonicProvocateur Where did you get that price? I doubt the FR-S and BRZ will cost the same.

  • @thesanglee88 On the Subaru spec sheet from motortrend straight from the factory it lists it at $25k MSRP. So you know it will be like 27 after taxes, then more like 24 after incentives and rebates. Subaru has already said at the Tokyo Auto Show that they are releasing an STi model, and on NASIOC it's estimated it will be around $32k.

  • @SonicProvocateur Yup I actually read that article in the MTmag. However, it said 'estimate" and not the final price so it will be around the 25k mark. STI version will be awesome! which means FR-S will be priced lower, perhaps 2-3k less? While I was reading, this statement caught my attention "After few mins of driving through the mountain rds you will wish this car had 100 more hp." B/c of that I'm probably not going to buy it. I hate that feeling STI will be too much for me.

  • @thesanglee88 Before I bought my 99 2.5RS coupe, I had a '02 Firebird 3.8 v6 and it had 200hp/230tq, but weighed about 3200lb. It wasn't fast (apx 7.6 0-60), but it felt "quick" and I loved it as a drivers car, was moddable and super reliable. With 2500lb less curb weight, the new FR-S/BRZ will DEFINITELY be more fun to drive, and the STi model will cost the same as my old W66 optioned Firebird. Totally worth it.

  • @SonicProvocateur Oh yeah, no doubt about being fun to drive. It's just that I hate the feeling of missing the power when you need it. You never felt that? I have to test drive and see how it is before I make my decision. Yes, the STI will be definitely worth it. But I don't have the money to pay for STI or 25k car just for fun. I need a car that I can have fun and enjoy being inside on a long drive. I drive over 1700mile+ every month. I don't want shitty interior lol

  • @thesanglee88 Yeah, from time to time I miss some pavement pummeling power, but it's more in the power to weight ratio and "fun to drive" factor which is different for everyone. The most fun car with great gas mileage i've ever driven was a C5 vette, and it's pwr/wght was about 9.5, the BRZ platform will be about 12 with the same mileage. To compare though, an Integra Type-R (same pwr/wght as my car) is roughly 16.

  • subaru badge would be more expensive, just look at how much sti's how for, there not cheap, there making it affortable with the scion. but everyone knows toyota had the brains....new scion era

  • Can someone explain to me why scion get's so much hate? Every video I see of the frs, people say they won't buy because of scion.

  • @TheKevin50cal idk. well i've been in the xb and tc. It is cheap as hell. That's probably why. That's my guess. if it is reasonably priced with decent interior materials then I wouldn't mind buying SCION fr-s.. purchasing a car at 25k+ just for the 'driving experience' with shitty interior while trying to get a job after college, and pay around $400 a month plus other expenses.. not worth it. For me that is.

  • @thesanglee88 right? If it's the same car pretty much, why would you pay more for a different brand? I would rather pay less for something that's practically the same....

  • @TheKevin50cal Yeah. People would pay extra for the Subaru name and higher quality interior. I don't blame them. This FR-S better be priced right or people will just buy the BRZ. I would sacrifice the comfort and nice/decent interior if this FR-S starts at 21-22k, I would buy it. But if it starts at 24 and up.. I rather pay little more and just get the 2013 Genesis coupe 3.8 with better interior and more power. "Fun" part of it.. I'm pretty sure I can have fun on the GC too.

  • They made it look so mild that it is like a girls car.

  • Concept was waaaaaay better.

  • Should have kept the concept style and add a turbo version.

  • @agata70 i called up to my local toyota dealer a few days ago wanting to put a deposit down on one and was also asking some other questions. i couldnt put a deposit down yet because pricing has not yet been announced. but they had a dude call me back,i forget from where, but he told me a turbo would definitely be available from trd within a year of release. who knows how long that will actually be..

  • Why would anyone buy a Scion badged version and not Subaru STI?

  • @DLC1988 FR-S is most likely cheaper than BRZ, and regardless what happened to Toyota in the recent past, it still has a massive following.

  • @DLC1988 well the only way i would have brought a scion is if they stuck with the same interior as the other two. Just to save a little money, they jeopardize sales of the Scion by putting cheap materials for the interior.

  • @Rocistan Yeah.. I personally like the FR-S styling better than the BRZ but I read that FR-S will have cheap interior so they can keep the price low... wack.. BRZ will, I heard, come with Navi system standard but my guess is that it will cost 26k. I really hope they price this car right so I can get one.

  • @DLC1988 Probably the Scion version would be more economic as most Scions tend to be.

  • @guyver280z But it's a pure sports car with a boxer engine ): It's a sequel to the Hachi AE86. Many people are disappointed by this Scion badge and I'm sure an STI badge will be more appealing as well.

  • @DLC1988 Because Scion is cheaper.

  • I think the emblem look best with Toyota its more original and it reminds me of the supra,

  • @DLC1988

If its not over 300hp on the BRZ then i rather buy the eov x

  • @Suesky its 200hp boxer engine RWD 47/53 weight distribution. It's 100% different from the EVO and such to each own taste. The selling gimmick behind this car is that it's a sequel to "AE86" which is a legend in the import world.

  • @DLC1988 insurance rates?

  • @DLC1988

1)The Subaru BRZ STI was just the concept. The production Subaru BRZ is not an "STI" for now.

    2) The anticipated list price for the Subaru is $28,000. The list price for the Scion is $22,500, for an identical car

    3) The Subaru has a big piece of black plastic on the front of the car that is going to fade badly

    4) You can get a WRX for less than a BRZ

So really, why would you get the Subaru instead of the Scion?

  • @pditty33 you sure about the 22,500 starting price for the scion? also, any word on the interior quality of the scion?...and compared to its subaru sibling? thanks

  • @DLC1988 Apparently the Scion version is identical to the Toyota version, which is tuned for a bit less understeer/more oversteer compared to the Subaru version.

I would MUCH rather stare at a Subaru emblem than a Scion emblem in the steering wheel. But if the Scion is more fun to drive, I'll take it.

    That's a big "if," though. ;)

  • @debroq Subaru in Europe, scion in the United States, and Toyota in Japan

  • i wudnt buy this car at first. maybe wait for a TRD or an STI edition to this car then buy it. im leaning towards scion more cuz they are own by toyota and plus this car has a lito lexus LFA ook in it with the headlights

  • Well what is it - a Scion or a Toyota?

  • @debroq And Subaru BRZ.

  • DUDE. ITS A FUCKIN GENESIS!!!

  • @belizetj Genesis can't even begin to compare.

  • @USA99VS1 Oh yeah, one is a NA Toyota and the other is a Turbo Hyundai. Doesnt matter that they have the exact same specs and look exactly the same. My bad. :P

  • @belizetj Hyundai... it's just a fad.

  • @USA99VS1 So is Scion.

  • @belizetj Scion isn't a fad, it's a niche, Toyota's sportier division that caters more youthful population.

  • @USA99VS1 Scion is more of a fad than Hyundai. Brand for Brand, Hyundai had been around way longer than Scion. Scion was just made to boost Toyota's younger sales, which they did a good job of doing, which makes it a HUGE fad. Toyota did a dick move by replacing the Celica GT-S with the p.o.s tC that is slow as fuck. And truthfully xAs, xBs, and xDs were total garbage, which they greatly improved on. Now it looks like Toyota/Scion is trying to copy Hyundai with the FR-S, but with a n/a motor.

  • @belizetj Toyota copy Hyundai? Tell me what you smoke, I want some.

  • @USA99VS1 Dude, I smoke some of the best Belizean high grade. But yes, you can see they look exactly the same, and have the exact same specs...

  • It's gonna be pretty tough to find room for a turbo with the engine as low and far back as it is. Subaru had the same issue when they were contemplating a turbo version of the BRZ.

There are rumors of a possible TRD Supercharger kit down the road, though.

  • This is the Toyota version people -_-"

Scion version has slight variations and I would take that one over the Toyota version

  • Boy they really let me down, shoulda stuck with the concept.

  • so.... is this what you get when you lock a supra and a celica in the same room without condoms?

  • I like the look of this car. Yes, the prototype would have been nice, but I want this car to stay under 30k. Low-20's would be optimal, honestly. The lack of sophisticated computer systems will definitely help lessen the complexity of this car.

Don't like the badges? De-Badge them and put your own on. This is a car meant for customization. People want a tuner and yet want everything done for them by the auto manufacturer. That isn't the point of a car like this. I would buy this over a Miata.

  • they really needed to put a turbo in this..it would have been a great platform for tuners

    oh well...

  • @Mr6Stang

It is a good platform for tuners, though. Minimal computer complexity and a low-center of gravity. Reports put this car at 0-62mph in about 6 seconds.

  • @TheReapersSon true it does have some potential but not as much potential as a car with a turbo. It has a near perfect 53/47 weight ratio which provides great tuning potential handling wise. This car will probably end up being a car that is tuned for drifting and handling but not for high power. The engine is somewhat tunable due to an unlocked ecu. The main point I'm trying to make is that performance wise this isnt a really good platform in comparison to a supra (extreme example)

  • @Mr6Stang dude the only thing that judges the cars power output potential is the engine itself, a turbo is forced induction and you can bet there will be turbo kits released for this car and maybe even a turbo model or kit released by toyota and/or subaru. this car is actually a much better platform in comparison to a supra the only difference being that the supra had a larger engine but the power output of that 6 in the supra was pretty much the same as what this 4 is putting out.

  • @4040tee " the power output of that 6 in the supra was pretty much the same as what this 4 is putting out."

but the supra comes stock with a turbo so.... and i highly doubt that there will be a turbo model until maybe the next generation and that's even if they decide to go that route. there will definitely be turbo kits for this car but there are turbo kits for most cars out there... also, lets not consider the fact that the supra is a much older car? technology advances as time goes on man

  • @Mr6Stang

There -will- be a turbo version. lets not forget this is a naturally aspirated 2 liter boxer four, a subaru motor with toyota's direct injection. the brz sti may be a concept now, but for sure they'll be putting a turbo in there when it sees production (and they'd be stupid not to put it into production).

this chassis is much better than the supra- it's incredibly light, most likely stiffer too. we're a decade past the last engineering thought that went into the supra.

  • GREAT looking sports car..

  • You guys are all ripping on this car but its the next great tuning platform...why?...because its cheap and its a 6 speed rwd car! Price is supposedly going to be 20k and the other was a concept of course the concept is going to look amazing but if they actually put the concept into production it would be ten times more expensive!! They made it affordable so be grateful I can't wait for this thing to hit the market

  • @nismo0303 25k which is like a gti but rwd.... a little bit overpriced however a commendable car

(much better than a gti, just used that example for pricing)

  • concept was better looking....

i dont want to drive this one ;p

  • @RadTaba if they went with concept form, this car would cost probably ten thousand more.

  • @rivengle I would have paid the extra 10k

  • whhhy did they brand this as a scion????

  • This is not the FR-S....

  • They need to make a TRD version of this thing, they got a sti version of the BRZ.....

  • I like what toyota is trying to do but the car does not look good. The wheels alone look cheap. Great idea bad execution

  • @wrxsti28 You can always change wheels, add suspension, and do other things. What fun would it be if you bought it already done? Kills the "tuning" aspect

  • Should be relatively inexpensive, as here in the US we will be sold the car as a Scion.

  • does anyone know the price yet?

  • @EdwinElizee It'd probably start at 20 grand. After all, the cars it wants to compete with (Mustang V6, Camaro V6, Mazda RX8 (i know that the RX will be dead soon, and hopefully replaced by another one, but still...), Hyundai Genesis Coupe, Mazda MX5), they all start around that price range.

  • @THEMAN201111 It's not competing with the Mustang, Camaro or Genesis. I really wish people would stop pitting the it against those cars. They are no where near it's competition. If all you people were to follow over on ft86club, you'd see it's named competition is the CR-Z, RX8, & Miata. All 3 of which are light, small cars. This car is a front MID engine NOT front engine like the Mustang/Camaro/Genesis, nor does it weigh over 3100lbs like those cars, nor does it have 300+hp.

  • @EdwinElizee According to Topspeed.com, it looks like it will be a little higher then 25k

  • @Xown95 Yes- that is right. All of the forums and websites have said the same thing. It's lightweight but they should have stuck more to how the concept looked like. That was hot.
