  • An idiot can tell how much you love jamming out on this song, nice, couldn't help joining in myself

  • Great sound en wonderful playing.

Thanx for sharing your work on Jamendo.

  • @stopthatnoise

Thanks very much...and thanks for checking out my Jamendo album.

  • Nice work. It's interesting to listen to your video and then "Jazzguts" version, two very distinct styles. Loved yours too.

  • @independentmind1977

Thanks. I hadn't heard the Jazzguts version until just now - I see what you mean: he's a great player.

  • Tone is terrible.

  • Great!

What is your gear? I'm interested in amp and mics (or way you record).

    Cheers!

  • @SykeSPL

On this video (as with most of my others), I'm using a Zoom G2.1u effects box plugged straight into my laptop - here I've used just a little compression, reverb and delay. I use Cakewalk Home Studio for the recording software. Thanks for subscribing, by the way.

  • Really good ! Can you send me the backround music please ? email emil.97a@hotmail.com

  • @MrEmil360

Thanks. Unfortunately, I don't have the backing track anymore after dropping my Seagate external drive a few months ago. However, you can probably find it on a torrent site - try searching for Jamey Aebersold; I'm sure it was one of his tracks.

  • Extremely well played!

  • Fine playing. very clean. wonderful touch. Interesting take on the material. Beautiful guitar too, love that finish.

    Steve

  • Man nice playing! i need information for this "shreddy thingy" on 3:14 :) thnx!

  • @Des60s

    Thanks very much. As for the "shreddy thing", it's just a straight run up a D dorian mode - use alternate picking as follows;

starting from the F on the 8th fret, 5th string, continue to the 10th & 12th frets.

    Then -

    4th string - 9th, 10th & 12th frets

    3rd string - 9th, 10th & 12th frets

    2nd string - 10th, 12th & 13th frets

    1st string - 10th, 12th & 13th frets

    1st string - 12th, 13th fret; finally a pull off triplet on the 1st string - 15th, 13th & 12th frets.

    Job done.

  • Прикольно.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

  • @TheRoman303 yep im cool.

  • A very Good feeling!

    janne from Sweden

  • nice playing, how did you get that backing track?

  • @Zinjuy

Thanks. The backing track is one of Jamey Aebersold's - he did lots of jazz backing tracks. If you search for Jamey Aebersold on Google you'll find plenty of information about him. Unfortunately, I don't have the track anymore after my external hard drive hit the floor a few months ago, otherwise I could have emailed it to you.

  • excellent job! I really respect the genre of jazz music because of all of the complicated elements that go into playing well. I especially appreciate videos like this because I have played very little jazz in my life (I'm more of a rock/blues/metal guitarist) but wish to play more. I especially find interest in this song because i performed it with a band during a one week jazz master class I went to. Excellent job!

  • @silvano751

Thanks very much. I came to jazz from a rock/blues background too and I tend to feel that I play jazz with a rock/blues "accent", although as the years go by that accent gets less and less (at least I hope so). I also find that some of my (stolen) jazz licks tend to turn up in my rock playing - which works quite well at times.

  • Dorian and phrygian stacked in fourths? What is going on. And what Miles-era is this from? If anyone can tell me that'd be great.

  • @BlikeNave

The track is from "modal" era Miles - from the Kind of Blue album.

In terms of modes, the track involves alternating dorian modes over a D minor and E flat minor backing (albeit with a few extra notes thrown in to spice things up).

  • @Kev3542 I appreciate the info. I'm trying to understand Miles/Coltrane/Russell stuff these days.

  • sounds awesome

  • are you using d phrygian? dorian?

  • @magicsXfive

I'm using the dorian mode mostly, although with a few extra notes thrown in here & there. The key switches from D to Eb.

  • Hey man I don't usually write comments, but for this one I had to!! It sounds so sweet!!
