  • Cool !

  • Are we seriously getting into war argument that happened some 60 years ago lets just sit back and listen to the best song in Rock N Roll History.

  • The Human Race just has a horrid hobby of starting wars. There will never be a war to end all wars. Its sad but True

  • dcskins83, I agree with you. It is very unfortunate that arrogance, ignorance and stupidity seem to be a badge of honor worn proudly by too many in out country.

  • It is true america's first choice for their main language was infact german. Im not trying to insult anyone :) its just the stone cold truth.

  • Arrogance and ignorance are a volatile combination. As an American I am ashamed to see them run rampant throughout our country. You attach this ignorance with dramatic symbols (the Queen and Hitler) and it spreads like wildfire. And if I know one thing and nothing else, it's that you never argue history with a bunch of Brits. It's kind of their thing.

    P.S. I love The Boss.

  • Yeah sorry to rant a bit. Like most brits I like americans, and the boss. You're our oldest allies. This was all started by some stupid "without us you'd be speaking German" comment earlier which I probably should have just ignored.

  • I believe Canada would be maybe you're oldest ally friendo, seeing how we never rebelled and what not

  • Yeah we love the canucks too. We love all the countries we spawned. Well, OK, maybe not the Australians - they beat us too often at cricket and rugby.

  • Bloody Aussies

  • Fifty on our foreheads by white lies obviously has taken a few lessons from this song but all credit its a damn good tune

  • i listen all day !! and it just gets better

  • I agree anyway, Shakespeare would definately be into Springsteen. :P Still, the casual racism seems to be getting a little bit over the top. Let's just agree that Springsteen rocks, and the only thing annoying about americans is the way that they spell 'neighbour'.

  • haha, you mean 'neighbor'.

  • lol

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

  • he was awesome at the super bowl!

    :D

  • OMG theres a lot of Brits slagging off America on this page. I love this song and i'm a brit. Your arguements are totally irrelavent to this great song. Take your anger out somewhere elso.

  • this song makes life worth living

  • What's up with the ending? Is it supposed to repeat itself?

  • I was wondering the same thing..

  • True Americana from back in the day.

  • You mongo? What the hell. rofl

  • the BoSS is So BoSS!!!!

  • very very very cool thing.

by a lengend in any way.

  • wow that comment below sums up my thoughts exactly! Springsteen is the shakespeare of music, no doubt. Thanks for uploading this version, been looking everywhere for it!

  • If Shakespeare wrote rock music, this would be it!!!

  • ya, if he lived in new jersey too

  • Somehow I doubt Shakespeare would sing folk songs and exhume blue collar subject matter. Springsteen's legend in his own right separate from some English nobleman.

  • HE MENT HES A GOOD WRITER U MONGO

  • And I was saying it's a rancid metaphor.

  • you limey slime we kicked your ass twice and saved your ass twice (1775 & 1812) (ww1 & ww2)YOU would not be here if it was not for YANKS!!!!

  • FUCK OFF YANK CUNT.

You lost the war of 1812.

You didn't turn up to the first world war until the fighting was done.

You turned up to world war 2 late, and the Russians won it, the yanks did fuck all apart from make sfx films about it.

I'd lay you out if you said that to me in the pub. Give me your e-mail and we can arrange a meeting. Cunt

  • *high five*

  • lol i agree

  • gert, when Winston Churchill was praying to FDR to get America to intervene, and continue supplying both Britain and Russia so they could hold on long enough for us to find a reason to fight, I'd say if it wasn't for our help the Queen would have been kissing Hitler's ring at Munich in '42.

  • Buddy, the queen came to power in 1953 + we won the Battle of Britain in 1940, which meant he couldn't invade, so nobody british would have been kissing Hitler's ring in '42.

Without the yanks, the russians (who were the real "winners" of WWII at a cost of 20m + dead) would simply have turned all of Europe except the UK into a Soviet satelite.

For playing a key role in preventing the spread of communism post '45 you can take all the credit you want, but not for "saving" Britain in WWII.

  • The Battle of Britain was just that...a battle. It certainly wasn't the end of the war, and Britain was in no way "safe"...the RAF was perilously close to running out of resources when Hitler and Goerring changed their strategy. Without the U.S. intervention and the supply agreements before 1941, Britain would have fallen. That is an absolute certainty.

  • Mate, Germany made no further attempts post 1940 to invade Britain. Furthermore, post war war games recreating Operation Sealion with the actual generals involved on both sides resulted in 90,000 German casualties/ week. At the time the UK still had the world's most powerful Navy, which simply minced the invasion barges, + a highly trained guerilla home guard.

It was the Russians, not the Americans, who broke the WWII Wehrmacht.

  • The fact that the US contributed (reluctantly, at first) is not in doubt, what is offensive and simply stupid is the idea that you "saved" us and we somehow owe you one as a result.

Maybe we saved you? Without us, there would have been no D-Day.

You would have ended up isolated, dealing either with Nazis or Commies or both. If you had decided to fight them, how would you have done it from the US? What kind of casualties would you have incurred? 4million versus the 400,000 you did lose?

  • The reason the idea you "saved" us is so offensive is because Britain actually lost more soldiers thena the US in WWII, from a much smaller population, + 60,000 civvies, only 20 years after we lost 1 million men fighting WWI (the last of whom only died last month - RIP Harry Patch).

Half you Yanks wouldn't even know this, 'cos you're so damn chauvinistic, and you probably wouldn't care either - your collective narcissism prevents you acknowledging the sacrifices of others.

    Rant over.......

  • Can you site your sources on those dates?

  • Shakespeare wasn't a nobleman; he was a self-made man, like Brucible. The parallels are endless: haven't you read 'The Two Gentleman of Nebraska?'

  • I think you guys are reading way to much in to his comment
