Found this music after meeting him in his bar in New York a few years back, to be fair I was thirteen or so at the time, though. If it makes up for not knowing who the hell he was at least I was seeing Al Green. ;)
Even if you don't like his expressions, they add more interest to a live performance. It wouldn't be very fun to watch a solid, emotionless statue play guitar.
He out lived out played and out stood for the blues longer than any of the Kings the undisputed champion B.B. this is one outstanding lead performance by him thanks for posting ! DB blues from Detroit
You'll see a legend, but just remember he's an old man now, and his dexterity isn't quite the same. Don't think you're going to see an 80's B.B. But have fun, B.B.'s great.
Dont even think its a multi tasking problem. I think it might be him living the music so much and pooring he's soul out with one instrument at a time, either the guitar or he's voice i guess :b
WOOOH! Hot damn! dat was cookin and that solo mmmhmm. wow. dat solo was made up of pure feelin, straight from his heart to mine. bb you are da best, man and continue to amaze all da time.
No blues player builds intensity like B.B. His playing is like climbing a later of feeling, even when he's high on the ladder, he again finds another rung. You can feel the steps up as his solo builds. He takes the solo somewhere, a continuous ride up.
Wow... this man can do more with one note than most can do in a whole song. Just amazing talent and feel. Blues is all about the feel, and no one feels it better than B.B. King. I seen him live several times, and 80+ he still has 'it' ... I'm 32, and I wish I could still do what I love and do it well at 80+
Sometimes I just put this on repeat it really means alot to me. Just grabbed the ring tone for my phone too if u want it check it out at NewTones4U . com #varialbes#
wrong...although Stevie was without question influenced by Hendrix,...his main influence was the blues, you can here it in the hendrix covers....and the main bluesman he followed was Albert King....performing with Albert at Antone's when he was 19.and even referred to Albert as his godfather
i didnt do any research when i wrote my comment, but i hear more jimi hendrix when srv plays. that's really where i made that assumption. i remember listening to a 69 woodstock CD and if i didnt put the disk in, i could've sworn srv was playing instead of hendrix. the style was that similar
@raskamas that doesn't mean anything IMO. Was he influenced by B.B. King? Yes.... doesn't mean that could be seen as a soul argument for B.B. being better. Everybody has influences.

Dude, I would say no pedal, it's all in the fingers. Phrasing, how you attack the notes, licks, melodic lines, and most of all soul, that is what makes the blues, and none of that comes in a pedal my friend, that uis something acquired by listening and carefully studying the masters, as well as lots of practice. But, there are some nice pedals icluding the old ibanez tube scremaer and the blues driver by (digitech?). Still, I would say learn to play it well clean, then add other stuff. Peace.
yeah, bnapoleonc is right on...minimum pedals, although you might not be able to get the sustain and quick notes that you want at first, but you get there over time. the only effect i would throw in there for electric blues is also maybe a wah-wah; Buddy Guy uses one, Hendrix pratically wrote the book on it, and even Clapton himself used one. But, of course use it sparringly:)
Definitely buy a Dunlop crybaby wah-wah pedal for effects, they run about $90, i used one for years until i accidentally left it behind at an out of town gig, they're excellent.
I'm not sure about what you want to use for distortion. I use a Boss MT-2 Metal Zone, which runs also about $90 and sounds great, but I play metal a lot more than I play blues, for what its worth. I believe Boss also makes a blues version, but I forget the name of it.
