  • wow, that was nostalgic. It looks so easy now, but as a little kid, it was hard to beat.

  • you took out that dragon real quick like a real knight but that doesn't look as hard as my Nes or PS2 version.

  • my fav c64 game!

  • GREAT MUSIC OF THIS GAME ESPECIALLY IN 3:00 AND AFTER THIS MOMENT!!! :)

  • i beat the game baby!

  • All the latest modern game-writing technology is no substitute for a bit of old school imagination and charm.

  • I heard Could it be magic by Barry Manilow on the radio today. The intro and outro are the same as the intro to this C64 tune. I thought it was interesting anyway. There were often ripped off parts in C64 music, but I never noticed this one before.

  • @bigpops74 Both are based on Chopin's Prelude no. 20 in C minor. Good ear.

  • weren't there different weapons like axes, fire etc ? I'm sure there was.

  • @talentedMrRead Definitely. I remember throwing torches that would burn for a while.

  • Sprite collision turned off, try the original arcade version and see how far you get. :)

  • Looks more forgiving than the NES version, which isn´t!

  • Epic music!

  • sure? I remember that in the first thirty seconds at least there was music

  • excellent memories excellent game ,remember playing this for many times !!

  • is not original music!!!

  • @ntonix i pulled out the old commodore 64 and had a play , it is the original music . love that game

  • One of my fav. games when I was a kid. Pretty hard though and such a great sound! Love the tune!

  • only 6mins playing to get the ending!!?? My God, I spent hours and hours and days playing to this game when I use to visit my cousin's C64 (hehe), it is like saying to my cousin in those times: go and do a shit on the toilet, when you come back I have finished the game....XD

  • cheater!

  • @JhondoetenenteDunn i dont believe he cheating. i done this game and he's got it down

  • @rodd555 saying that i could never kill that snake thing at end :/

  • Oh my god, this is one of the big missing pieces of my childhood. I haven't played this game for like 16 years. I was like 4 or 5 last time I played this.

  • the running animation is truly fantastic.

  • one of the best c64 games imo

  • Was this game ported to EVERYTHING?

  • @TwosComplement it was ported to almost all systems :) all 8 and 16 bit systems. C64,CPC, Atari ST, Amiga, Sinclair and a lot of arcade systems and game consoles

  • Better music than the Arcade!

  • Waf für eine geile musik....Wunderbar....

  • you did save the princess -THE END- :D

  • I always liked the music to this lol

  • @bowe6420

Then you will love instant Remedy with Ghost'n'Goblins. Search for it on Spotify and you will be a very happy man!

  • wow how many versions of this is there

  • Loved this version of the game the most. Creepy music for the time too.

  • Quite simply the best version of this classic game, even better than the arcade

  • Great music. and this was one of those classics...

  • the music is really amazing...

  • Brilliant music.

  • LOL

  • music used to scare the crap out of me when I was a kid.

  • Great game! I liked the way you were given different weapons. The spear is great, the fire torch is crap, the dagger is my favourite, the axe is just a better hit-count fire torch and the shield is amazing but tricky to use.

Those ghost things that spit at the end of level 1 and throughout level 4 always piss me off!

  • those white goblins throws sperm.. uh

  • I played C64 games for years, but this is one I didn't like nearly as much as the NES version. TBH, I don't remember the C64 version looking like this.

  • Probably my favourite C64 game ;)

    What a good times :)

  • i spent more time playing this game then any other in my life i think and still didnt beat it it was just unbelivably hard lol

  • I can beat the Ghosts 'n Goblins on NES but not on C64 =(

  • this game made me so angry when i was a kid :DDD the music is just awsome

  • Looks like crap and sounds ... kinda good though not even close to the real ghost n goblins music.. still sounds a little crappy.

  • @CEEPMDEE Funny and true, but you obviously weren't a teen when this came out. Your comment will be repeated about Halo and Modern Warfare by the next generation.

  • @jasonisunavailable naaah I was about 11 when the C64 version was released but when the arcade came out in "85" I loved it although it was way too advanced for me at the time.

this was my 1st game (not including super mario bros) for the nintendo (nes) in "87", and I didn't even ask for it as it was a surprise.

    Outstanding.

  • @jasonisunavailable to be honest, nobody will remember ANY of the music of this generations games. It all sounds like the same generic epic movie music.

  • @weaselfierce you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • Remember playing this on the c 64, thanx for the upload!!

  • Cool play! I remember me playing this thru ages ago :) Good memories :)

  • that was a princess ? looked more like Frosty the Snowman

  • haha......Well done, you went from start to finish in 5 mins...:P i couldn't get of the first stage...:( i was 10 wen i first got this.

  • Brings back a million fun memorys! Thanks!

  • If it hasn't already been complimented... great reflexes at 4:37 :)

  • Looks easy, but I never finished it.

  • I think the music alone made this superior to the arcade...

  • @andersbiro Sure it did...

  • @andersbiro Eh, the music is good in this version, but I prefer the arcade version's music.

  • this version is completely, totally, entirely, absolutely, nothing like the actual game. There is no challenge to this game at all!

What a disappointment. In fact, it isn't G7G to me at all, but a different game. Pussies N' Goblins.

  • I can't agree more, nothing comes close to the old C64 games, I would spend hours on this as a kid, along with green beret and wonder boy. Those really were the days. Thanks for posting this, rather surreal to see!

  • Ah man, I never realized they cut the game short. The whole thing loaded into the C64's RAM, which is col because there's a lot there, but man, if they let it load a few levels, it'd be an amazing job. Played great though. Nothing more needs to be said about the music. :P

  • i know the arcade verson is better because there is 6 levels and you need the shield to get into the end of game badass and kill him right in front the princess and also there are 2 laps involved

  • cheater....

  • I used to love this game! The music!

The first game I totally won!

I remember beating that giant at the end and rescuing the Princess!

  • I so loved this game <3

  • I've owned pretty much every PC type, games console, handheld etc. over the past 20 years, but nothing comes close to the games I played on my C64. Man, those were the days! This game would drive me nuts at times, but it was a favorite nonetheless. They just don't make them like they used to.

  • The arcade version is one of the HARDEST platformers in gaming history.

  • my fav game..love the graphics and occasional audio stickies

  • way better than resident evil :D  those were the times;

  • double dragon

    i miss it

  • Nes Version is cooler^^

  • Man,I LOVED this game!!!

  • i never forget this music,lol

  • is that last boss the end of da game

  • This is a pretty good translation for the C64

  • i fell in love with the arcade version first, as a kid, the throwing knives and corpses won me over ha. gotta dig the Cindy Lauper like bass line.

i used to beat BLACK TIGER with one man (never mind one quarter) and SHINOBI and WARDNERS FOREST and SKY SOLDIERS, all with one man. but this game always got me, i never did complete it on arcade, or C-64 nor Nintendo (w/o cheats) it is probably the tuffest game i have tried to conquer.

  • When this came out on C64 I was overjoyed. I think I locked myself away with it for weeks.

  • quake 1b, there was another music for the menu, wasn´t it ( or maybe it was the credits )? anyway, i remember being somehow enchanted by that tune as a kid. could you help me, Q1B?!

  • It was probably the high score music, when you die :)

  • This is a considerably shorter and less sadistic version of GnG. Most other versions are just plain impossible.

  • one of my fave games ever! Could never beat it tho :/

  • WOW!! MY CHILDHOOD !!!!

  • I like the ness vertion. Its better. The one for supper ness is even better.

  • Wow. I was never be able to to finish it. Without a cheat code, I mean. xD

  • por qué no salieron juegos como este para Atari 8 bit, si tenían sistemas parecidos!!!!!!.

  • All G 'n G<C64 version

  • My copy of this game always crashed at the beginning of stage 2.

  • I'm not so good at this game. It's too hard for me to clear.

  • Also, some enemies are completely invincible. I can't believe you defeated the invincible guys.

  • Pinche sonido está de la chingada

  • Great stuff.

The 64 version is heaps easier than the arcade. The Arcade music (and Ghouls and Ghosts update) is some of my favourite game music ever. That and the music from Monty on the Run I still hum to myself now!

  • you're very good! i played this game last times in '94 or '95 and i always thought my version (on tape) was damaged because of the weird music! :D

very hard game to play anyway

  • Great, man! I played this in summer '88 - and by training a lot in the end I managed to play this thru (but lost like 2 or 3 lifes then)...

Nice to see you playing it, and thx for you contribution!

  • It was a very hard game. On the first stage you couldn't do anything when the zombies came up from the ground and you were exactly there. There are useless weapons, you used only one. Without savestates...very nice work. How did you record the gameplay into video?

  • I love this game and the music to it, it's bloody brilliant! My commodore 64 just recently died. Do know how I'm gonna get another??

  • I loved this music: almost better than the coin-op!

  • Haha wow, red devils look soooo much easier in this version. Really digging the music too.

  • The red devils aren't that difficult to beat. just walk towards them and shoot, just don't stop moving.

  • ah, this was one of my very first games for the C64

  • I wonder if the game musicmaker has ever listened Camel's Lady Fantasy, coz that first melody sounds almost the same.

  • Wow...I have not seen or heard this game since around 1987. Everything looks and sounds so familar. I can't believe I remember this level after 21 years.

And if this isn't the best music all around..I don't know what is .

  • I feel the same dude, it must be about 21 years since i last played this game as well and yet its totally familiar...i feel 8 again lol

  • One of my first Longplays I`ve ever made. To this time there was no emulator for Savestates so I have to play the games flawless. This was really hard but Ghosts N Goblins is one of the better longplays from the first series. :) Never saw the video since 5 years. Thanks for uploading.

  • Its funny to see, that somebody made this game in nearly 6 minutes, and I only reached level 3 after nearly endless playing :)

  • Haha, me too! :)

  • Seeing this video reminds me of the hours I spent playing this as a kid. Was a tough game, too.

  • There was a glitch in this game on the final level with the dragon where you could sit in the corner and fire away and the dragon couldn't hurt you.

  • Thanks man! A good remembering of the roaring 80's

  • Didn't we all. Without unlimited life this game was next to impossible to beat.

  • Loved to the music of this game..

  • i always thought this was by far the easiest version. well, the only one ive ever completed anyways...

  • fuck me when was this game made !?!?!?

  • I forgot this game ever existed. Thanks for posting, I love it

  • This was a hard game!!

  • you're dang good man!Never saw the end of it those times i played that game.a good one.Thank you!

  • Heh, this was a game my older brother would play with his pals while hogging any chance I ever had at using the C64. Prior to ever playing the arcade original, I sorta digged this music too (Elite apparently had some clever renditinos for the themes like for Paperboy using the C64's SID's).

  • cool

  • The music is awful. Original is MUCH better. The playability is very different in all senses in comparison to the original game. But the grafx are great, very cool.

  • One of the classics! I have to admit though I would always use the old cheat for the bosses where you kneel down next to the door and became invincible.

  • Still remember the sound fx interfering with the music.

  • lol, I love how there's absolutely no plot to this game!!!

  • hell..well done

  • Nicely played. You made the whole game look incredibly easy when in reality it isn't.

  • Dios, que buena música. He llorado al escucharla. Igual que la del Arcade. Me la he bajado para escucharla en el coche.

  • Also, this version has teh kick ass music...AND Sound effects! Now that's worthy of a WTF. :)

    Nice playin, Q1B.

  • WTF? Only three stages? And it looks easier than the arcade version...again, WTF?

  • There was a second version which looks like the arcade version, but this version was damn difficult to play. It took for me more than 3 month until I finished the game ^^;

  • nice, btw what did emulator did you use and what software to record (the sound is lovely).

  • Great.

    Thats awesome... Thx
