  • Could you grow cause your not exactly standing straight?I know I have scoliosis and I think I am going to tell my mom to take me back to the doctor.Last year I was diagosed with it.Only we did nothing for it so far it,and now I'm 13.

  • @allthatluv99 you could probably still grow upward a little but probably not too much. when i had scoliosis if i grew it meant my curvature would get worse. good luck!

  • definitely :) just dont overwork yourself! maybe youll be able to have a comfy chair to sit in just in case =] good luck on your surgery, its really not that bad and you'll have a cool battle scar :D

  • getting surgery in 2 days!!! im so nervous about pain. and basketball season is coming up for cheer and do you (or anyone whos had the surgery) think i will be able to wave poms and lightly stomp my feet by 2-3 months? Thankss :)

  • mine is at a 40 degree angle right now but in 6 months if it gets to 45 or higher i have to get surgery. did your face get puffy from the fliuids and did you ever get to take a shower, wash your face, and brush your teeth or whatever? how did you use the bathroom..

  • @Strawberry1139 i dont remember if my face got puffy. it might have for a couple of days but not long at all. i took a shower on the last day of my stay i believe, maybe a day before. i dont remember brushing my teeth ever... hahaa..ew right? you have a catheter for a couple of days but then you're able to use the bathroom with the help of a nurse or your parents. dont worry, you'll be okies!

  • @Spazzerz eww you cant brush ur teeth? cant wait for that.. haha. and was it painful like you dont remember any of the surgery taking place on ur back?

  • @Strawberry1139 haha you'll have fun. and i dont remember any of my surgery like during it... i do remember waking up after and wondering why my face was itchy but pretty much the first few days all you do is sleep. and while in the hospital you'll be pain free cause you're taking lots of meds but at home it can get pretty bad

  • greaat video it reminds me so much of my experience mines was an 80 degree curve.

  • i have a 85 bad curve it limits me a litlel but i have to watch what i wear my back sticks out

  • what was your degree mine was 78

  • @popprincess3396;

    around 60

  • My daughter is 13 and has scoliosis, she is due to see the specialist this week can you offer any advice

  • don't worry about it. if it ends up that she needs surgery just know she's in good hands and tell her to stay positive, the surgery is definitely worth it. :)

  • Thank you for posting this video! My curve looks similar to yours..What degree was your curve before the surgery?

  • i think my curve was about 55 or something i dont really remember.. maybe 60 haha sorry

  • can you do gymnastics or flips after? how much school did you miss? did it hurt? can you sprint after? can you bend your back after? how long did u have to wear a brace after? ..srry for all the questions but im having the surgury this summer and i love sports and reallly hope im as good at them after recovery as I am now.

  • @GYMNASTSISSY;

i dont do gymnastics in the first place so i wouldnt know about this. however, i am able to do backbends easily, if that helps at all. i missed exactly 1 month of school. i would have been able to go back sooner but i wasnt able to sit up for very long. yes, i can sprint. yes, i can bend my back. i didnt have to have a brace ever. it's fine, i understand, you'll be fine :)

  • im going hospital for my spine too on the 20th!

I have a really big curve in my back, i can't stand or sit straight. my hips and shoulders are uneven.. and you can see my spine, it's really discusting :o

  • you must be excited to get it over with :D i definitely was, i was the same wayyy!

  • how old r u??? i have several scoliosis and im 22 i wish i can have a sergury to get fix =(

  • oh, im 14

  • what was ur degree. mine is a 68 and i need surgery. can u help me out.

  • Hey this video is great. I'm seeing my surgeon this week to make a big decision.....

Can you possibly post a video showing how you can twist and move these days??

  • i just had this surgery two weeks ago haha

im doing great but im very impatient

i really want to get out there and go swimming and run around and drive around again!! especially since its summer... ugh

when can you do all this again???

  • brilliant. very informative. you are brilliant. everything about you is awesome. beautiful!!!

    ...hehe...i'm a creeper.

  • yes you are. :)

  • it's been a year and a half since my surgery, i can make whatever movement i want

i wrestle with my boyfriend, i play football in pe, i have been tackled to the ground by my friends. i dont have restrictions. i even swung a golf club about a month ago, and bending my waist didn't hurt. plus, i can run like no other.

(the "metal thingies" are called rods and screws..)

  • Hey girl, you'd better exercise as much as possible, otherwise your spine will age real quick as the metal thingy restricts its movements.

But don't make big and rapid movements. Soft and gentle is the best something like ballet dancing.

  • also, i can do back bends, no problem. the 6 months leading up to my surgery, i wasnt even able to sit, walk, or run without it hurting. i couldn't do pe at all and i took advil twice a day. i couldn't even sit in class. so really, all the surgery has done is help me. i've had no problems. i dont take pills anymore, either.

  • To be honest,I have scoliosis too.

It's a thoracic (from ribcage to neck) one and I wanna go through surgery until some professional friends stopped me seriously.

They said that I wouldn't be able to bend my body after the surgery,is that true??

And I would also lose some body movements or flexibility and can't even regain the natural human spine curve??

  • if its just thoracic you'll be able to bend. they wont put rods on your spine that doesnt hvae scoliosis or (in my case) the curve is just as bad but they dont fix it because it evens out with your top spine.

  • But many experts say that it doesn't help for long in the long run right?

I mean the curve actually becomes more serious as time goes by than not planting the thing inside...though it does look better right after the surgery.

  • Stay well , have kyphosis in getting operated in 2 days am kind of scared not because the operation because of the time am going to be away from my friend and family also the pain and I dont like hospitals there boring .

  • hi!!!...i'm aiby...i also have scoliosis...and i'm afraid to face the surgery..can u gve me some advce bout it?...here's my ym:aiby_jane..hope to kip n touch wd u...god bless...

  • congrats!! haha i love how you seem so happy through all of this :P

  • did you have 2 curves? did the lumbar curve correct after surgery? did you have to wear shoe lifts or brace? Did you do PT after surgery?

  • Did you have 2 curves? After surgery, did your lumbar curve correct itself? If so, how long did it take? Did you have to use shoe lifts or brace? Any PT?
