Rrod is caused by the xclamp. Its a deliberate move by microsoft so it goes wrong and you have to pay to fix it. Even the new xbox 360 slim has xclamps and costs more to fix
All it takes is for microsoft to screw the heatsinks to the motherboard and no more red rings

I agree, this is helpful, but there's no good reason why Microsoft can't get the defect rate down to what it is on the new Slim PS3, or even the Wii. They have the technical expertise to do it; it's just laziness on their part.
There really is no way to predict it. My launch day RROD at around 1 1/2 years. It was replaced by Microsoft by a second, still the old chipset, and it has lasted me since. Right now the DVD drive is starting fail, sadly. Though it has lasted 3 years. Double the life of my launch day.

i checked my pro (white, silver disc tray) console from this vid and other vids and it is a jasper model so pros can have the jasper chipset but my xboxs MFR date is 07-21-09. so the pros may have been recently upgraded

Meaning 12.1 Amps power draw. But all 2009 models are supposed to be Jasper. It's 2010, well I guess you got a left over console. It certainly depends on how long the console has been sitting on the shelf for. My local Futureshop is still selling the Xbox 360 Pros that were discontinued months ago. But since the MW2 console is fairly new, it could have it.
I believe so peanut but you gotta look at the MFR date (Manufactoring date) If its around year 2009 theres a high chance you might have a falcon or jasper.
My xbox got the RROD last summer. I was standing in the store about to decide weather I wanted the PS3 or Xbox and I chose Xbox Elite because all my friends had an xbox and I found the games to be fun. PS3 hands down is relyable, great graphics and cost effective to say the least. Long story short, once everyone I know gets a PS3, ill get one.
Thats whats special about teh jasper chipset, it reduces the chance of having a RROD. RROD is mostly caused by overheating from the GPU unit and somehow messes it up. I went thro 2 xboxes already because I got the RROD. Enjoy your xbox to the fullest lolz!
I baught a PS3 a year after its release and I got the yellow light thing after 3 weeks. So I replaced it. my xbox 360 which I got the christmas fallowing the release never gave the red ring after 4 years (I stupidly placed the xbox over a heat vent). So now I only own a PS3 and I miss my xbox.

Just google it. Square trade, the most accurate source for failure reports, stated that over a year only 4% of the jasper sold had failed. Very little of them being RROD problems.
Why? Because the core of the RROD problem had been the chips being damaged by excessive heat. Well now the jasper units are lot cooler and have better heatsinks, along with smaller and durable chipsets (both CPU and GPU) .

my Zephyr lasted 14 months. i took very very good care of it - i always played with it under the ceiling fan or the AC, never for more than 2 hrs at a stretch, gave it regular breaks and kept it clean, kept the brick on a non-static cloth, put the console on an elevated platform with at least 2 ft space in every direction, used the controller to turn it on/open/close tray - EVERY measure possible, and it still died. have to get a new one now that won't die in the tropical heat of my country

nah man, had computers all my life (since 1986 - Commodore and Atari Infesa) and spending 500USD a year to have a "barely" updated PC for decent gaming was a pain in the ass, one day like year and a half ago i decided to get an xbox 360 and for 300 USD here in Colombia and that was one of the best choices i made in my life, last week my Pro had the e74 error and tomorow i'm buying this falcon for 200 USD and plug my HDD, controls and cooler and start gaming again...
the limitations are endless... you can play so many games, and its not even limted to PC games, all kinds of emulators, ps1, ps2,gamecube, and all the classic consoles, and dont forget MAME.
plus, you wont even have to mod your console to play pirated games, you can just download and play on pc.. to play isos on ps2 you need to mod it, endangering your system.
iv had 3 xboxes, in the last few years. and they all have broke, rrod, freezing, etc.... i gave them all the x-clamp fix. and they still freeze-up. i absolutly hate ps3.... so im guess im gonna give the jasper a try. ( gonna put a talismoon whisper cooling fan on the back, and 2 XMC core coolers inside).
P.S. the falcon xboxes had a Philips & BenQ drive (its philips sister company)

Unfortunately this is the chipset that is most prone to RROD. The new jasper is 12V and 12.1a which means it uses less energy and runs a lot cooler. As of right now you'll find them mostly on the Arcades, sparingly on the Pros and RARELY on the elites. So save yourself the money and buy the arcade and the HDD separately.

if you have a hd from your broken RROD console, use that, then you basically save money because the only thing you dont get with an arcade is a hdd, and all your accesories from your broken console will still work. so....

I stooped my console war both are good. I like the 360 because I will not get the rrod because of the awsome jasper. The people that do get it well bad luck. Peace dude enjoy games. Your failure rates are inaccurate so I wont even reply but they are totally wrong. Those are for 2007, for 2008 20 jasper 10 to 12. Peace dude.

Lol, you fail and naming failure rates.
Square trade has reported that less than 4% of the Jasper models break.
The Falcon models break 16% of the time, and the Xenon breaks 30-33% of the time.

Just google it. Square trade, the most accurate source for failure reports, stated that over a year only 4% of the jasper sold had failed. Very little of them being RROD problems.
Why? Because the core of the RROD problem had been the chips being damaged by excessive heat. Well now the jasper units are lot cooler and have better heatsinks, along with smaller and durable chipsets (both CPU and GPU) .

my Zephyr lasted 14 months. i took very very good care of it - i always played with it under the ceiling fan or the AC, never for more than 2 hrs at a stretch, gave it regular breaks and kept it clean, kept the brick on a non-static cloth, put the console on an elevated platform with at least 2 ft space in every direction, used the controller to turn it on/open/close tray - EVERY measure possible, and it still died. have to get a new one now that won't die in the tropical heat of my country

The last time a upgrade my PC was in 2004 and runs like a charm for what i really need it. if i hadn't bougth a 360 i'll prbably would had spent nearly $3000usd to have played all the games i played in my 360. nah man, had computers all my life (since 1986 - Commodore and Atari Infesa) and spending 500USD a year to have a "barely" updated PC for decent gaming was a pain in the ass, one day like year and a half ago i decided to get an xbox 360 and for 300 USD here in Colombia and that was one of the best choices i made in my life, last week my Pro had the e74 error and tomorow i'm buying this falcon for 200 USD and plug my HDD, controls and cooler and start gaming again...

the limitations are endless... you can play so many games, and its not even limted to PC games, all kinds of emulators, ps1, ps2,gamecube, and all the classic consoles, and dont forget MAME.
plus, you wont even have to mod your console to play pirated games, you can just download and play on pc.. to play isos on ps2 you need to mod it, endangering your system.

iv had 3 xboxes, in the last few years. and they all have broke, rrod, freezing, etc.... i gave them all the x-clamp fix. and they still freeze-up. i absolutly hate ps3.... so im guess im gonna give the jasper a try. ( gonna put a talismoon whisper cooling fan on the back, and 2 XMC core coolers inside).
P.S. the falcon xboxes had a Philips & BenQ drive (its philips sister company)

Unfortunately this is the chipset that is most prone to RROD. The new jasper is 12V and 12.1a which means it uses less energy and runs a lot cooler. As of right now you'll find them mostly on the Arcades, sparingly on the Pros and RARELY on the elites. So save yourself the money and buy the arcade and the HDD separately.

I got the E74 error and didn't check the crest before a new mother board was put in.I checked today and It says 12v----16.5A

It's called the Zephyr chip, which was put into the XBOX PRO's at July 2007, those chips were used by the Elites when they came out.

if you have a hd from your broken RROD console, use that, then you basically save money because the only thing you dont get with an arcade is a hdd, and all your accesories from your broken console will still work. so....
