I've noticed a lot of comments about "how unsafe" Perth is. Like most places crime does live here, but Perth as a whole has a low crime rate. Just use common sense and you will be fine.

I remember 2 years ago i was in Dublin, Ireland inside the office of my house watching this from the DVD which the immigration had sent to my family in our migration package and just thinking WOW. I was completely overwhelmed and probably watched it about 20 times in a row, made the 6 month wait seem much longer! Been living in Perth for two years now and I LOVE IT, wouldnt want to be anywhere else in the world, if i ever am in a bad mood this video reminds me of how lucky i am to be living here
I had the privilige of visiting Perth at the end of 2009 begining of 2010. A wonderful place , with wonderful people . I loved it. I am hoping to make it my home by the end of 2011.

I've only been living in Perth for 2.5 years and thank God I love it. I came from South East Asia and Perth is just perfect. It's not as crowded as Sydney or Melbourne. I just love it. I love the laid back people too. I don't want to live anywhere else in Australia except Perth.
WA is great if you know where to look. It has a lot of the natural beauty, most of which is outside of Perth unfortunately. As for Perth itself, some find the atmosphere relaxing, others find it dull. WA is also generally more conservative than some of the eastern states.

Well every city centre neighbourhood has a least three to four legalised brothels packed I am sure with unfortunate drug dependent souls. The Australian obsession with a “blue” (a fight) means that most bars for any sort of a quiet night out can end in hassle. Both of them I've questioned in terms of should I stay where I am and work till I get to the UK or moneywise move to Perth till then, and say that it's very easy, sis had a job in 2 days working in a cafe. This city looks nice only, its a crime city same like melbourne , i was assulted by a native boy on bus 6 months ago, and today 17/5/2011 some one tried to steal my car, he broke the window and lock ignition, it cost me over 1100 $. i am moving to canada forever . and going from Australia with very bad experience, Police is useless.

@MrSmile1087 Yes there is a LOT of crime in Australia, especially assaults, robberies and burglaries and car theft. HUGE amount of anti social behaviour. Vandalism, graffiti,etc is rampant. There is NO community spirit in Australian cities, no sense of community like there is in North American cities. I have lived in Canada and there is a lot less crime there, the streets are MUCH safer in Canada, you don't get the sense of danger like you do in Australia.

I remember 2 years ago i was in Dublin, Ireland inside the office of my house watching this from the DVD which the immigration had sent to my family in our migration package and just thinking WOW. I was completely overwhelmed and probably watched it about 20 times in a row, made the 6 month wait seem much longer! Been living in Perth for two years now and I LOVE IT, wouldnt want to be anywhere else in the world, if i ever am in a bad mood this video reminds me of how lucky i am to be living here

I had the privilige of visiting Perth at the end of 2009 begining of 2010. A wonderful place , with wonderful people . I loved it. I am hoping to make it my home by the end of 2011.

I've only been living in Perth for 2.5 years and thank God I love it. I came from South East Asia and Perth is just perfect. It's not as crowded as Sydney or Melbourne. I just love it. I love the laid back people too. I don't want to live anywhere else in Australia except Perth.

WA is great if you know where to look. It has a lot of the natural beauty, most of which is outside of Perth unfortunately. As for Perth itself, some find the atmosphere relaxing, others find it dull. WA is also generally more conservative than some of the eastern states.

Now I'm too old (63) to return to Australia as a permanent resident, since age 45 is the cutoff. Guess they don't want us old Americans utilizing Australia's free universal health insurance - who would want that except the 60 million Americans who have no health insurance? Cold winter days here in NEUSA remind me of why I loved living along the Indian Ocean!

depends what your into, Sydney is more of a party town, more bars, clubs etc...Perth has everything Sydney has minus the crowds. Nicer beaches and friendlier people in my opinion, one of the most underated cities in the world. Nobody from Sydney would ever admit that though

Perth is really nice and imo actually more of a wilder city than Sydney (party wise).

Well every city centre neighbourhood has a least three to four legalised brothels packed I am sure with unfortunate drug dependent souls. The Australian obsession with a “blue” (a fight) means that most bars for any sort of a quiet night out can end in hassle. Your wife, girlfriend or daughter will most probably be a victim of some or other form of miscodogny be it in the workplace or in general life.

ive been to perth twice,its quite nice,but has no city life,it closes up about 6. you have to go to the suburbs to get a little bit of life which is stupid. I could never live there, ok they have the great weather and good beeches but that wears thin after a few months then perth becomes a VERY BOERING PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perth a dull city. Warm climate cold people. I was glad to be getting the hell out of there. Not a place I would recommend anyone to live in especially if you have a young family. There’s a huge vibe of Australia for the Australians just check out their TV particularly those “Australian Airport Border Patrol Programmes”. I found Australians to be very right wing and racist. The average Australian hates the Aboriginal.

im landing in perth next month for a gap year trip kinda thing (im from the UK) can anyone tell me if its easy to get a non-permanent job there e.g. bar staff, hotel worker, waiter, fruit picking etc. and also, is there anywhere to stay that is cheaper than $13 a night, cus thats the cheapest Hostel ive found so far. one last thing, for people who have visited or live in australia, would you stay in Perth or travel to other cities as soon as i possibly could? thank you!

@englandforever My sister and good friend lived there and couldn't stop raving about the place, hence I'm off there to work next month. Both of them I've questioned in terms of should I stay where I am and work till I get to the UK or moneywise move to Perth till then, and say that it's very easy, sis had a job in 2 days working in a cafe.
