I don't think you took this too far at all. You should actually take it a little farther (further?).

It has a very good feel to it, very mellow - soothing.

It does sound a bit like that Satriani song from "Flying In a Blue Dream", but not so much so that its a problem.

I see a lot of potential in this - add some layering (bass line, second guitar, etc.)

It has that dreamy, fantasy feel to it - which I like a lot.

This is a very good starting point for something really interesting.

tapping is a skill not an effect

wat u do is u hamer-on and pull off anywhere on the neck and hit the same string somewhere else on the fretboard. Just alternate ur fingers its easy as hell
