bolted on or not, the flange will still warp if you weld continuously. Weld little sections at a time and let it cool is what i've learned. Sucks because it takes so long but it prevents warping.
Nice job, I learning about TIG welding and I m also doing a down pipe, and i was wondering if i should tag weld first then take the turbo off and then finish welding or should I just leave it on like you have, I m just worrying about damaging the turbo.
@thefavs You leave the flange bolted to the turbo till the material has cooled down. This prevents the flange from warping. You won't damage the turbo.
Offshore welders earn $2,775.00 per 84 hr. work week. If you would like to weld offshore, send me your email address. If you would like to work offshore as a welder's helper, or cook, or galley hand, or roustabout, send me your email address.
Oh! Really? Where's your video, please show us your better video then others.... no? then shut-up! I knew this video is boring, but you don need to show off (but nothing from your video). if you don like just walk away quitely. be nice person. - neg for you.

@calvinculpalt cool that helped

@thefavs the turbo sees more heat while in use than it does while welding on it. leave it bolted to prevent warping.
