It doesn't usually take to long to get the chipmunks to eat from your hand. As long as you are not moving around too much; just stay still, and it helps if you leave a trail of munchies, whether it be sunflower seeds, or peanuts; have the trail leading up to your hand; they will make their way as long as there is not a lot of commotion.
Usually no time at all. This time there were two of them near our campsite. One of them had no fear at all. The other looked pretty beaten up and it took him a day or so. This was in Algonquin Park at Achray but we have had similar experiences all over.

Cute, how long did it take before he started taking them from your hand? Our chipmunks seem way too shy.
