@CharmingSage- You're not wrong there. But in Julie Andrews for Mary Poppins, and the over-the-top publicity, Kim was always gonna find it tough for that Oscar.
Thank you so much for putting this up here!! What a remarkable film from one of the cleverest and most talented teams ever in the history of cinema, Forbes and Attenborough. And this is a masterclass of acting and direction. Fabulous score too...
Kim Stanley received the 1964 New York Best Actress Award and an Oscar nomination (losing to Julie "Mary Poppins" Andrews). She didn't make another film for 18 years until "Frances" (1982) opposite Jessica Lange. Kim got a supporting Oscar nomination for that film.
i enjoy unusual entertainment

What terrible music!. A clear case of trying to hard to create an atmosphere. I apreciate less can be more and the same for the acting.

Seance is a gripping, beautifully plotted and executed. Kim Stanley is one of the greatest American film actresses on the silver screen.

Another excellent film Bryan Forbes directed was the original 1975 version of 'The Stepford Wives'.

Came home early from work and the afternoon movie came on Film 4. So I sat down and gave it a chance. Seance was very good and creepy as hell.
Kim Stanley is perfectly cast in this sinister as hell. Attenborugh's understated acting was sublime.

This is film is neither grindhouse nor exploitation.
Thriller or detective story would be closer to the mark.
An amazing film.
