I initially saw this flick when I was in junior high (NOT middle school) back in 1967, even before PLANET OF THE APES and NIGHT GALLERY, both of which proved Mr. McDowall's mettle. This picture (there IS a difference between a 'picture' and a 'movie', after all) scared and impressed me so much, to this day I wait for the Golem to emerge from the Atlantic Ocean to wreak chaotic havoc here in the U.S. Talk about weird!
watched this movie as a kid and there was this accident outside the theater-a car hit a train at a crossing. you should divide it up like other movies on You Tube and show the whole thing-aside from Freudian stuff there is other propaganda slipped in-i,.e.the Golem going to America. Love this film!
I saw this movie on television with my father. I love this movie! It's a shame that's not for sale with portuguese subtitles. Actually, it's not for sale in Brazil.
got scared out of the theater.. as a little kid.. never finished watching the movie.. this was 43 years ago.. i've been looking for this movie ever since..
I saw this one in the theater,I think around 66'or'67'...,paid like 50 cents admission.Very interesting story, and they were able to realize it back when special effects were limited.Bottom line: It! was scary!
at last! i've been lookin for this film for years! I 1st saw this when i was about 9-10 years old and it's one of my all time favorite scary horror clasics (and later inspired my weird creations in art/sculpture class,Mwa-ha-ha-ha!) Pls-PLEASE-post d 2nd part! PLEASSSSSSSSSSE?
I knew I was not crazy! My brother doesn't remember this movie, thanks! I will show it to him. But in my memory this film was black&white, anyway I was like six eight years old, never forget about the invincible Golem beneath the sea. I though Ironman 28 was the Golem in cartoon haha, they lookalike
PUT UP! PUT UP! I was looking for this thing for ages but I forgot the name... I have very fond memories of this film indeed and I thank you immensely for uploading it...
Can`t you put the whole thing on--I saw this movie when I was a kid at the Empire Theater in Manchester,N.H--the theater is still there--but some asshole who bought it ripped the interior out so it is just a shell-and its front is a 7-eleven
You Tube wouldn't allow it, I'd be wasting my time (they've taken my videos down before), and it would be in 10min segments anyway, You Tube do allow more time but only for useless projects nobody cares about.
I hope the art of condensation catches on. Nice to see a complete story in under a half-hour for a change, and still know that there's a full-length version out there for when you're in the mood for it.
Yeah it extracted dirt from me also when I was a kid. Spent years tracking a copy of this film down. Got it on eBay for a tenner in the end. Doesn't frighten me anymore.
Fantastic !!! 1966 /67 ???

TCM showed this last night, 11th May, so as they tend to repeat the films for a while it should be on again soon.
Great film but the last ten minutes are rushed and a bit daft.
punditpete 2 years ago
I agree about the ending. Roddy McDowell should have at least finally got his end away if nothing else!
trap0001 2 years ago
Yea big Yank guy gets the bird and poor old Roddy gets a bomb up his arse.....bloody typical

I saw this around 1975 when it was shown as part of the Appointment With Fear friday night season of films. The Golem scared me shitless.
The film then disappeared off the radar until amazingly Sky Movies showed it around 2000.
Sadly for me the 25 year gap between views had hardened me to the golem and I did not find him scary.
Great memories though of a film that scared me as a kid and left an impression.

Yep, just looks like a giant turd now.
trap0001 3 years ago
That Jill Haworth was a right cracker. Roddy was never gonna kop off with her.
Yeah the golem does resemble a giant turd now you mention it.

Is`nt the old jewish scholar-Katherine Hepburn--I heard she was trying to stretch her career by playing a man
jackeats7 3 years ago
She's not credited for it. Anyway she would have been busy making 'Guess Who's Coming To Dinner' at the time this was made (1966).

Thanks. He didn't say 'on a Bi-Plane' he said 'On his way by plane'. But yes, it's still a jet. Perhaps there were no good library shots of a plane!
