  • It's either this or a different kind of stick insect, but there are less than 10 of them left.

  • its dancing

  • Do they actually snap like a twig if you snap em? and is there wood inside them? stupid question but i don't know

  • These insect is Phasmatodea and it dont sting or bite people it just scare K-I-D-S.

  • Whoa, that things like the size of, well, a stick.

  • OMG!! I saw one of these (we grew up in the woods of CT) as a child. I get the chills whenever I think about it. My bf has never seen one so I found your vid on youtube. That one is huge! Im never going to New Zealand!!!! ACK!!

  • lol the whole video it looks like its dancing XD Stick Insects are groovy :D

  • IDK men but this insect looks pissed off and is coming for you. Prepare some raid or blackjack.

  • I saw a very large one of these in Valley Stream State Park, NY, when I was 11. He emerged from nowhere, and started trotting off. Me and my cousin got outa dodge immediately.

I have never been the same and/or sane since.

  • haha really looks like a stick XD

  • where do these guys live

  • ive got a mate who has a phobia of these things, I asked him why, he's all like :"they just sit there and sway back and forth(0:33-0:44), they dont know which way they're going WHAT KINDA BUG DOES THAT!!!!" hahahaha

  • as a kid i used to come home and occassionally find huge stick insects about a metre long in random places. this is very very occassionally though

  • so cute!

  • the stick bugs must have a lot of sex. after all their best pickup line is: i got wood.

  • its neat, i had a pet chameleon once that did that exact same thing when it moved, it would sway back and forth or forward and backward and i could never understand why, turns out its to simulate leaves blowing in the wind, this stick does the same thing, its weird how they know to do that.

  • Time spent assisting stick insects with their calisthenics is never deducted from one's allotted span on Earth.

  • lokks so funny were is the head?? xD

and are the dangerous for human or are the kidding aus ^^ :D

  • oik those things - much like the mantis - are pretty freakin cool.

  • IS IT HARD LIKE A TREE BRANCH?

  • ai ai ai 1:25 - 1:34 was like attack of the twig LMAO too funny IM STILL CRYING!!!

  • How do they mate????

  • @MrCrayonInk95 They dont mate, they lay dont have to. they just lay eggs.

  • @1812jacko Most species mate. But they can lay eggs without mating.

  • EEN BOOM

  • I use to hold those when i was a kid but not any more they gross me out lol

  • Nice video. But "Giant walking stick insect", am I detecting a lack of info? :P

A more scientific name is Phasmatodea, I think this one is "Ctenomorphodes chronus", closest looking thing in my insect book atleast. Did you make a trip to Australia during this or can these be found in New Zeeland?

    lol @ 1:22 "ajajaj". :D

  • ha he scare that it walks up to the camra

  • lol at its drunk walk, how clever that they not only look like a twig but move like one in the wind. thats evolution for ya :D

  • @Nakedguy01 I don't think so. Pretty small mouths n no sting.

  • @Nakedguy01 ive held one before so i dont think it would either

  • turkeys love em

  • I still remeber the first time I saw a walking stick. I was about 8 or 9 years old and has just relocated from Chicago to Orlando with my family. Me and some newly found friends decided to explore a wooded area and one walked right in front of me. Man, I screamed like Drew Barrymore did when she first saw E.T!!!!! lol!

  • Wow , a really cool insect . Seems like the longer the legs the harder to walk

  • Cute!

  • Phasmids are professionals at crysis, that rocking motion is to resemble a stick blowing in the wind. This one is particularly interesting, it even has thorns.

  • Lol it was coming for ya i see. Lol like how you were going Uhhh.... ehhhhhh

  • wats it called?

  • it looks like a branch O_o

  • very mobile stick

  • @jamesnuutinen lmaolmaolmaolmaolmao

  • Its not enough to look like a stick, it has to have spines too!

  • one amazing creature

  • is that real live stick or is that some animal? sry my bad english :DDD

  • It is an insect that looks like a stick. This is to be less readily seen by predators - such as birds.

  • yeah but birds get sticks to make nests. . . darwin is stupid. :-D

  • no it's a real live stick that breathes through it's bark....moron.

  • lol definitley :P
