What's the point of Thrax making everyone think that Frank has the common cold?

Wouldn't that just make the police that much more concerned once Thrax makes his move? Since the cold was a pre-lude to Thrax invading the hypothomos. (sp?)

its a distracsion. Its too make frank and people around him think its nothing but a cold. If frank just started sweating and taking a fit, Thrax wouldnt b able to complete his collection. Besides all the cells would make a move on the cold and get rid of it while thrax would make a move to his goal. Ive tryied to help lol

@Karnezar my guess is that because if thrax caused instant death, (my guess is it would take 2 hours after infection to hit the brain and get out if he did it that way) he would just be a deadly virus he would become an epidemic and people would be more desperate to find a cure
