@joelg125 Ya, I still have it. They've discontinued it, and the company, but have opened a new company; and the new version of this pedal comes out in a couple months. :-)
I've never tried the Behringer. The reason I chose the Midi Mate over it was that with the expression pedal, the Behringer was too big for me. Cheers!
In my humble opinion, this pedal has much more weight to the delayed sound. Very real sounding. And the modulation is warmer than the DD20, too. And it doesn't suck any tone in bypass, which the DD20 tends to do a bit. And it has more presets. However, the DD20 is my second choice for a digital delay behind this one. Very underrated pedal. :-) Hope that helps!
third evening on the trot watching your damage control videos. the timeline, even on cam audio, has to be the best sounding delay i have ever heard. i want one, no i need one, no i need two. a question for you, if you don't mind, how does the glass nexus compare delay wise? i realise there are fewer options, but is the basic glorious sound the same? the nexus delays sound pretty astonishing on your vids, but 'in the flesh' how do they compare? thanks again.
The Nexus has a great delay, and does sound fairly close to the Timeline. Maybe slightly less weight to it, and also does not have the ability to put modulation on the echoes. So, it's almost the same, just not as tweakable, and not as many features. :-) Hope that helps a bit!
I hope Damage Control has cut you a percentage on sales for the Timeline. Great demo, definitely sold me on it. I love mine, I won't need another delay.
haha Thanks for the kind words. And I had no affiliation with Damage Control when I first did these demos. They were just great pedals, and I wanted other people to know about them. But since then, Damage Control has contacted me, and they have been very generous with their thanks. Not exactly cutting me a sales percentage, lol :-)
And I'm stoked you're digging the Timeline. How long have you had it?
About 6 months and it already has seen a lot of gigs. Even though it is a big pedal, I actuallly have saved space on my board because the TL does so much! I went with the MidiMouse vs the midimate due to the space considerations. I would have liked alpha display though like the midimate. Cheers!
Well, I'm a bit biased, but I think on sound along, the Timeline is much better. Plus it has more presets, you can tap tempo even with the pedal off, it doesn't suck tone, has no volume drop, and the switches are sturdier. The DL4 is a good pedal in its own rite though, and has more options on its looper, and is very good for those 'digital artifact' sounds. :-)
Gotcha. :-) Well, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that in my very humble and limited opinion, I do not think the DL4 sounds all that great as a straight delay. I'd even take the Boss DD20 or the Line 6 Echo Park over it. There are a lot of professional guitar players who use it, but you'll notice that most of them have other delays on their boards, too. They use the other delays for the straight delay sounds, and the DL4 for the weird, digitally, ambient stuff; which I do think the DL4...
....does well. Johnny Buckland of Coldplay does this. If you just look at his board, you'd think all his delay sounds come from the DL4. But he actually has two TC2290's in his rack that give him most of the delay sounds. He uses the DL4 for the weird trippy stuff at the end of phrases.
Hope that makes sense. But, as always, if you think the DL4 sounds the best of all the delays, and it makes you happy and helps you create good music, then that's all that matters! :-) Cheers!
hehe Some people just love the DL4, and make great music with it. Which I'm cool with. But personally, I've gotta say I'm inclined to agree a bit. ;-)
No worries! :-) The English was fine! And it's just the Damage Control Timeline for the effect at 3:24. The only thing I'm doing is using the volume knob on the guitar itself. The Timeline is the only effect plugged in for the whole demo. Thanks for watching!
Yeah! I contacted Damage Control and they informed me that they're are getting some of them in again in a while. I'm gonna have it imported from the U.S. - something that's actually cheaper for me right now since the Dollar is so low.
Hi, i bought this pedal after viewing your excellent demo.
I definitely don't regret!. It seems there are many possibilities with modulation effects (but I didn't have time to really get into it). I would say that, finally, the simple delay with tap tempo is alreaddy an enough reason to get this fantastic (but a bit too big?) pedal.
If you go on the Damage Control website, they mention something in the 'products' section about sending out adapters with different power connections for different countries. So I think the 220 versions are available, I think! :-)
I bought this pedal from Damage control website. I live in Hong Kong (where we use 220 V). I didn't need to mention 220 V, as i alreaddy mentioned my adress on the order form. I received the 220 V version pedal quite rapidly (less than a week).
As far as just the delayed sound, the T-Rex and the Timeline both sound fantastic, and very, very close to sounding exactly the same. So then the Timeline is like the sound quality of the T-Rex, but with a ton more features, including modulation, presets, and multiple delay types. :-) So, I'g go Timeline for the best delay I've found in a pedal (imho), and T-Rex for the best sounding simple delay.
Yes! That's another huge advantage to using the pedal's midi capabilities. You get 128 presets via the midi switches, and then the pedal's switches go back to being on/off and tap tempo for all 128 presets. :-)
No, it's with the volume knob on the guitar. The pedal does some cool swellish things with the reverse delay setting, but I find the smoothest setting for swells is to use just a long delay and then use the volume knob on the guitar. :-) Cheers!!
haha Well, thanks for the kind words. I've actually spoken with Damage Control just in passing (I'm not a rep or anything), and they've gone out of their way to be very gracious. Really good people over there. Cheers!!
I think it depends on the tube, for how long they will last. But the ones I have are actually still stock, and they've lasted for about a year with daily play, and I'm just now thinking that I 'maybe' might need to think about changing them in the near future.
Just got an email from Pete Celi at Damage Control. The new run of Timelines will continued to be made in the USA and Peavey handles the distribution. There is a God!!!! =)

Nice sounding delay. Very good review.

Because the DL4 sounds more professional, because Line 6 describes it on their website as professional, or because professional players use it?

can you use the tap tempo of your pedal when you're using the midi board presets? because I can't do it with the pedal's presets.
