The Gaelic Irish nobility is not what makes this work so important. As published it includes the locations of the 'common' families, as well as fragments of history found nowhere else, written in the Irish language of the day. Beyond ink on paper, it also played a role in the Celtic revival of the 19th century, and served as a guideline for the use and translation of the Irish language, and that is just for starters.

Using the annals of 'The Four Friars' as a history of Ireland is on a par with using Burke's Peerage as a history of Britain. If accounts of the births, deaths and lives of the Gaelic Irish nobility is your thing then I'm sure it's quite useful. There's much more to Ireland than that.
