  • It cab be replied to by another terminal mail user and plz show how to view a msg in your terminal inbox

  • @spy85able Yes, someone who knows how to can send mail to you that you must use Terminal to check, but I believe they must be on your local network, or you must have a special connection setup to be able to receive mail over the internet. And to check your inbox in Terminal just type "mail" and it will list any mail that may exist for your username.

  • It doesn't work for me. When I only typed mail it sent it to my own computer, but when i type mailx it successfully sends it away from my computer, but it doesn't reach it's address. Any tips? I'm using Snow Leopard.

  • I have problems with this, even when everything is done right and I dont get any errors, can this be done in snow leopard?

  • @aleksdirector I can't say for certain whether or not this will work on Snow Leopard, but I assume it would, as I have no idea as to why Apple would remove anything, as typically nothing is removed unless it's obsolete / problematic, at least that has been my experience. I've done this on my main computer (Leopard) and another computer (Tiger) so it should work if you've typed it correctly.

  • @superriku11 okey, i gonna try again...

  • Hey, my mac is running tiger and when i try this tutorial my mac says localhost:~ hackintosher$

    whats wrong with this?

  • @Hackintosher Make sure you are typing the command correctly. If your not it might output something similar to that.

  • thanks man!!!

  • for some reason, this worked great for me a couple months ago but now dosnt work at all. ????? can you help?

  • @boid3 That depends, but I will try my best. Does your Terminal output any sort of message, like maybe an error, when you try the command?

  • This was excellent!

knowing the ENTER-PERIOD-ENTER command is worth its weight in gold

  • Thanks! I have recently been thinking about making more videos like this, would you like to see more videos?

  • you should make more mac tutorials!

  • Ok, I probably will soon.

  • Thanks.

  • I'm just glad I could help.

  • how do you get top sites in safari

  • I am using Safari 4.

  • yeah i know that but how did you set up top sites

  • You don't really set up top sites. But if you want to have top sites appear when you open Safari then you have to first make sure that you are running Safari 4 or higher, and then click on Safari > Preferences > General and then under "New windows open with:" set it to Top Sites, do the same for "New tabs open with:" and after that your Safari should always open to top sites.

  • Yeah, cool video. Thanks for this but I can't get it to work either. I am on gmail as well, and have followed your example to the letter - no email shows up at all. Guess it works for some people and not for others.

  • Are you using Tiger or Leopard?

  • Am on Leopard 10.5.7 - honestly, it really bugs me because it looks so cool. My set-up superficially looks the same as yours, but no luck here.

  • Try doing mailx to my e-Mail which I used in the video and see if it makes a difference.

  • Thanks for replying. Im using gmail but i dont even know my smtp server, kinda messed up. Anyway take your time as im not in a hurry for this at all. ThankS

  • I've got one problem though, when trying to send the email. I have an error showing up

    send-mail: fatal: bad string length 0 < 1: mydomain_fallback =

    Any suggestions ? thank you

  • If you give me the e-Mail domain I might be able to figure out what this is. An e-Mail domain is the @somewhere at the end of an e-Mail. example: @gmail, @yahoo, @aol.

  • nice trick
