Dude, for just being on the kit for the third time, this is absolutely beastly. It's an old video so I've hoped you've still got the passion. keep on rocking.
bro quit YOUR day job AND play DRUM .. BECAUSE YOUR the man.. nice WORK.. NICE .. best stay and show it off and PLEASE PLAY THAT SONG LOUD AND SCREAM it out.. SUPER BAD (DRUM BRO).. best from New YOrk
I started drums in early '70s. You had to be "good" or else friends/neighbors would laugh. You had to sound like the record album: James Brown's drummer, Chicago's drummer, Led Zepplin's drummer, Buddy Miles, or Buddy Rich.
Standards were high, maybe too high i suppose. Times have changed.
Tony You're AMAZING! Plus you remind me of my brother - also named Tony. Keep on making your Videos. I watch them often - they always make me smile; puts me in a happy mood. You seem like a cool guy - real kind and genuine.
well, not really, but that's only because my 27 year old daughter doesn't have kids. I'm 49. The whole "grandpa" thing came about because I bear a striking resemblance to my grandfather who passed away some 20 years ago. This is also why I have on the black framed glasses, it makes the resemblance more evident. Anyone from Wilkins Ave. (or Louis Nine Blvd, in the Bronx, NY) will remember my grandpa "Willie" from the restaurant in the 60's and 70's.
yeah i can understand that iv never had a drum lesson in my life and i can play it ,, i guess it just depends on what kind of music u listin to but anyway keep up the good work
Damn dude!! I just listened to Godsmack (straight outta line) for the first time.... I can't play that!! are you serious? The song that I'm playing in my video, I had been listening to that song since 1972 so even though i've never taken so much as 1 drum lesson, I could play it just by practicing it with "air drums". I have natural rhythm and coordination and musical apptitude so music comes very easy to me. Godsmack is off the hook! but just not my type of music.
Sorry man but your killing the tune. Listen to Clyde Stubblefield. You need more than hitting a bass and a cymbal to become a funky drummer. Your trying to hard.
hey thanks for the critique... I was actually impressed considering this may be my 3rd time ever playing a drum set. I've been listening and playing "air-drums" to James Brown tunes for 40 years though!! If I could get more time perhaps I'll practice and get some lessons to learn the basics.
Notes? I'm probably going to get slammed by the drumming purists out there but i'm going to go out on a limb and say that this is just regular funky beat drumming. When I had a funk band, we never discussed notes or sheet music...This is my first attenmpt at playing drums, i'm a sax player.
Thanks "E". I'm not really a drummer, per se... I just always felt "the beat" in my head and played air drums all my life, so when I got this set for my son, I just hopped on and kicked a beat. I think if I took some lessons or talked to a few real funk drummers, I could get some techniques that are needed to be a real drummer. Also from what I heard, recording drums could be a tricky task.
Tony for sure you got soul!!!!!

The bridge on the ride cymbal is just variations of triplets incorporating the snare.
