LOL, as much as russian 125 APFSDS rounds can't penetrate turret armor, the same goes for 120mm APFSDS rounds used by NATO tanks. Not even M829A3 can't penetrate T-90A's turret armor. Why do you think USA went from M829A2 to M829A3 and are developing A4 as we speak?

@Iggy82xl russia has developed brand new shells that can penetrate the uranium mix of the abrams armor easily in iraq the iraqies fired rpg-7 and they made the abrams a pill of junk metal even if they try to run it with the second engine you can stop that too with a simple machine gun !! AND BTW the americans fired to the abrams for testing the armor shells of the ussr that were made before 1972 and it did not penetrate the armor ! now they avoid firing new shells because it will be penetrated

@Iggy82xl to counter ERA,and that is all.the T-90s armor is some of the poorest on earth(next to plain steel)and is actually slightly thicker than the abrams at its thickest point but still offers about 500mm less protection!!!that is BEYOND significant!!!seeing as though the M829A3(standard on all abrams tanks)can penetrate about 800mm of armor while the most powerful round the T90 can fire(a prototype,not standard)can still only penetrate 800mm of armor,despite having a larger bore and length.

Are you talking about armor that is lighter than the Abrams? its volumetric efficiency is higher, but that is something you have not understood yet, is it? The problem is the penetrator length of the T-90 is limited by the autoloader. The new autoloader in development will allow new ammo with longer penetrators, exceeding the US rounds ability.

@Kris81887 I know that Singapore made a big fuss about how inferior PT 91 compared to Leopard 1 tank, PT 91 is a modern conversion of the T-72 while the Leopard 1 is a battle proven but 1970 old tank.

But the decision for buying PT 91 is a mistake, for me, they should have purchase either the T-90 or T-84, cause we don't need to actually fight, but both tank are quite capable, and above all the T-90 are more compatibility in terms of ammunition, armor & upgrades. And it looks good on parade :P

@willychong8921 Well, yea, I agree to certain extent your opinion is correct. But PT 91 is a much better weapon than Leopard which is a 1970's generation of tanks. We had tested it on our terrain. But I also agree with we should buy other tanks but I think one batallion of MBTs is quite sufficient for now. We have other armaments which we don't reveal. Unlike our boisterous neighbour. To be honest, I've seen videos of Leo2 going through a muddy and mucky terrain, though not so muddy and mucky as the ones shown in this vid. The thing is I can't recall Abrams ever going through anything like it. Most of the vids show Abrams either in the desert or on dirt roads.

Leo has a good track system and a reliable diesel engine, it's weight is hadicap in Euerope due to bridges,even 100 ton bridges will force single file crossings,T90s can cross two abreast= faster bridge crossings

The elimination of space inside the T90 thats dedicated for a human loader alows for a lighter more compact vehicle without sacraficeing overall protection.

@blackhawk438 Replacing the M1 would cost billions in R&D and replacement costs, not counting pressure fom General Dynamics land systems to continue modifications and upgrades on vehicles in service, more money can be made off modfications as most are no bid , unlike a complete tank. May I suggest Blacktail defences chanell here he goes into great detail on the short comeings of the M1 and has done 90% of the leg work on this subject.

Oh no, they're not a gonna buy the T-90. This is the footage from the time they were still deciding what MBT to buy. They bought PT-91 latter. It was an economical decision. Poland gave better payment terms than Russia, and besides PT-91 does the job it was built for pretty well.

I've heard it was the only tank that had a field strip and service on it's engine in the jungle. Supposedly, the T-90 team on purpose overheated the engine, so they could show that you can fix the engine on the spot with basic tools and parts. There were breakdowns on other tanks as well, but they were towed back to repair facilities for repairs.
