After leaving my comment, I read some of the other comments. I spoke of “an exposed nerve.” Others used the word “raw.” Wow. We all get it! We all feel it! I thought I might be alone. There are more of us than I thought. The realization that others feel the same thing that I do when listening to The Ropes kind of blows my mind. Do you ever feel that The Ropes music is absorbing you while you absorb it?

I cannot get over how incredibly powerful this combination of words, music, and voice is. It never fails either. I can and do listen to The Ropes pretty much everyday. I wait for the impact to lesson. Then maybe I will not be so obsessed. Maybe then, I will not feel as if someone has twisted me like a wet cloth. The vice grip tightens. Once you are in, you are in all the way brother and you belong to The Ropes. And you know what? It is worth it!

The Ropes are fascinating. The entire package is filled with ideas: musical, philosophical, political, and emotional. The music is completely original and engaging. No one else sounds exactly like The Ropes. The lyrics are genius. Today people throw the word genius around like a football. Not me. I have concluded that Sharon Shy possesses the most haunting, thrilling, emotionally wrenching, and beautiful voice ever heard! Brilliant!
