@acyu Its not that hes trying to prove anything, its also a stage and mic technique called the proximity effect, which creates vocal fading. Both opera singers and normal rnb/rock/metal/pop etc singers do it. Vitas is just using a more exaggerated version of it for his theatrics. This technique takes alot of the pressure off the vocal cords instead of when the artist has to create a voice fade 'manually' so to speak, by rapidly descending and ascending in pitch.

@jasdeviel it's pretty hard to do it, because even when he does it he sounds almost exactly the same as the original version.

He rarely does an actual "fade" with his voice as his microphone is also programmed in such a way it has little fade when he flings it around, like at 2:47 when he definitely holds the note as the mic is moved away. In other songs like the beginning of Soul and the ending of Opernaya, it is programmed to amplify his voice further away from the mic.

Nowadays he likes closing his mouth whenever he flings the mic away like at 2:47, so you can't really hear him. It seems like he sometimes just doesn't sing when he takes the mic away. I think I did hear him a bit when he swung it like that though, but maybe it was just the reverb. The problem was the crowd, including me, scream so loud so I couldn't hear him. However I did for sure hear his unamplified voice during other songs such as La Donna Mobile, O Sole Mio and it was perfect pitch.

What's so odd about his voice is on occasion it fluctuates in such a way that sounds not only inhuman, but almost artificial. He can bend the high notes in such a way that seem real at all.

I love vitas his voice is amazing even when hes not singing and he knows how to speak chinese and Japanese, I only know how to speak a little Chinese and Japanese but I'm learning how to speak Russian I'm actually forming a band to sing in Russian because I love the language so much.

Opera 2 and Smile in Hangzhou 2009 and Smile in Xian 2009. In these vids, Vitas hits the high notes heard clearly without the microphone. The moving of the mic does not sound as "staccato" in these performances.

In these songs they lower the mic sensitivity so the the audience can HEAR it without any mic, but in Opernaya (Opera Song) and Soul, they crank it up so they can get it RECORDED onto the soundboard (Soul performance in 2003 sounds messy due to reverb and low sensitivity).

Also note the speaker is right there, so the camera picks that up louder than what is on stage. He's singing with lots of reverb but low mic sensitivity. Despite all the videos you see, the audience is quite far from him as the stage is quite big.

People who have attended his concerts have said that they can clearly hear his voice ie. at 2:47, but the speakers drown what is heard, the camera sound is bad, and there's too many people screaming (they sometimes sound like him too).

I also compared St. Petersburg performance with studio version, the vocals are slightly different and while the speed is almost the same, there is a little lag with the vocals. at 2:49 you can hear his voice just before the mic is about to come back. Stuff like 2:15 is impossible to fake because the sound mixer does not know the exact timing of the moving of the mic. It may look a bit off at times but that's due to the mic receiving the signal a bit sooner.

At a live performance, unless you COVER the mic, you're gonna hear the vocalist softer... NOT COMPLETELY GATED!!! I don't believe it. It's really hard to describe WHY this is live, because Vitas sings at least 90% similar to the original version. However, the high notes are much stronger and the vibrato is slightly different from the original.

In several recent performances, he sings the verses very differently to prove he's live, but leaves his high notes the same.

That note is completely possible for someone with his high pitched voice. His voice is pretty high to start off with. I don't really understand why it is so impossible for people to comprehend that he can actually hit it. It's really not that hard. I've been singing for 13 yrs and I know. @luciaulloa The technique he's using is called Falsetto. There are lots of others that can Pull it off. Search for King Diamond, he sings 95% in Falsetto, hitting high notes. I'm a bass sounding guy, and I can pull off some of the high pitched stuff Vitas sings :). There's no reason for doubting Vitas, I'm quite sure he can pull it off :)

all singers lip sync sometimes. however not at concerts.too many things can go wrong and no sane performer would do that. if you are singing on a tv show then fine..not too many singers come with a full orchestra to sing one song...he has a voice that is a fine tumed instrument. i wish he would just sing & stop trying to prove he isn't faking it. the folks who don't believe he's singing never will and aren't important because they will never go to a concert or buy a cd.
