  • The Clash brought me here.

  • Brought here listening to Clash, who the f*ck is skins?

  • I used to hear "the Clash", but then i took an arrow in my knee !!

  • Ah who cares. It was so long ago I can't remember what it was that turned me on to the Clash, but it must have been something, considering I wasn't born when this song came out. The main thing is you paid attention when it happened. Thousands didn't.

  • what is your problem with skins. i heard of the clash ages ago and skins just adds more fans to the clash and popularizes it, plus Skins is actually really good and you wouldn't know that unless you have watched it . To be perfectly honest I don't care so stop being a bunch of hipsters and love the clash for what it's worth... A FUCKING AMAZING BAND THAT CONTRIBUTES TO THE LIST OF 70's PUNK THAT BLOWS YOUR MIND AND SAYS FUCK THE SYSTEM!

  • @mrjoew8 Some great punk covers should try stiff little fingers johnny was as well, for some reason reggae and punk seem to work well

  • @mrjoew8 I just went and listened to that song, and I didn't understand why I was supposed to listen to it. Aren't they two completely different songs? And does your suggestion rest on the supposition that people listen to music for a particular effect?

It just reminds me of that old statement, "Hey that song sucks, so listen to this one instead."

  • The only band that matters

  • @MsVintage61

    So true.

  • it´s not as good as the original but it is fucking good. The Clash - best punk album cover of all time.

  • @themadthrasher666 you're the dumb shit because she is on about "skins" , a douchy british tv programme that idolises tools and is generally crap. "because you should already know the fucking clash"

  • @themadthrasher666 learn to read dick wad. "skins" as it was used in her comment, was referring to a crappy tv programme. not skinheads, who rock.

  • @lingo929 whats skins dude i came hear beacuse its the second best song on this album (USA is first and riot :P)

  • @Ellaaaa1995

    Get the fuck out.

  • @NMEGAXC No you fuck off.... who fucking cares what or whom brought people to listen to this awesome track? the important thing is that music like this cant die, but will always live on, and wether there's a cover band or a show using the music, more and more people will hear it and eventually learn to appriciate the awesomeness that is the CLASH.

  • @Ellaaaa1995 brought here by skinheads

  • Comment removed

  • @caseyssuxass Pretty much every cover the Clash do is better than the original

  • @caseyssuxass The Clash are the best band ever but seriously listen to the Junior Murvin version - you can't improve on dub perfection.

  • @caseyssuxass not really, both are good in their own way.

  • @caseyssuxass

  • Englands world cup song for Brazil 2014

  • Comment removed

  • Sorry you feel so strongly about what someone else thinks about a song that isn't even very good. Honestly, Murvin would have zero incentive to not like a cover of one of his songs if it pays him royalties.

@antarcticdirtclod I think you are mistaken. That's not a very good comparison on your part because both Dylan and Hendrix are great artists. The clash on the other hand, not so much. They're just the green-day of yesteryear. Sorry I don't have lower musical standards.

  • @thehebrewhammer420 perhaps to you they're the green day of yesteryear, but while green day is tired & unoriginal, the clash were largely working in a vacuum. they helped create the punk movement, & even if you don't want to appreciate punk today, you can't ignore that it got big for a reason. it embodied the anger & frustration of the youth in that period. how can you look down on something that millions of people connected with & say it's not art just because it's simple?

  • @radioviking I never said its the clash wasn't art. I said they sucked. A painting can be absolute crap but it is still art none the less. To me most punk is unoriginal they just sound too similar. So yes I don't appreciate punk for the most part. I do however appreciate reggae which is naturally why I don't like this version. I'm sure there are plenty of people who objected to Lil John doing a "remix" of Ozzy's Crazy Train. I'll bet the general consensus among purists is that Ozzy's is better.

  • @thehebrewhammer420 are you not aware of ur self.ur a fool a silly little poodle (boy)

  • @rank260

Lol was that supposed to be a question? At least I'm aware of punctuation.

  • @thehebrewhammer420 Wot a load of shite. Everyone knows art is based on interpretation, just because you 'dont get it' doesnt make it crap. Why is music any different? I think this is a great version of Murvins song but its neither better or worse, appreciate it for what it is. Paul Simonon was into reggae and wanted to diversify some of the Clash music to encompass that. If they marketed themselves as a reggae tribute band, you would have an argument. Stop being so narrow minded.

  • @palermothegoalgod

lol wow we're still doing this? You missed the boat by about 8 months my man. Maybe in 8 more months you can find something else I never said to quote me on.

  • @thehebrewhammer420 to me, this embodies the very definition of art just as well as any more proficient musician, and even better than most. after all, it inspires exactly the emotions that are obviously felt by the artists

also, if you think the song is no good and the original artist is a sell-out, why post about him rolling over in his grave in the first place? you obviously don't have much respect for murvin, let alone the people touched by this message

  • i think this was play when i was being made i ve been lissting to clash since i was a wee tot and love them i dont know whats up with the kids my age but they need to hear real music and i was born in 83 so i dont know if this song was out in 82 but ive had in my mind for as long as i can think

  • @MrJakelange 1977 so maybe your parents had a good chokice of music in the 70's and it was in there genes

  • @MrJakelange 1977 so maybe your parents had a good choice of music in the 70's and it was in there genes

  • my fave song from this alubum is garagland, but this is also amazing !!

  • I've been listening to it since the early 80s and never get tired of it. Thanks for uploading.

  • equal but different to the original :)

  • Brilliant!, Attitude Man!...Attitude!!!

  • Charlie Chaplin must be giving out free hand jobs because this song is awesome.

  • This is as Anti-war as it gets they should sing this at church instead of making excuses for this tyranny bullshit world we live in the message of this song will live on no matter who covers it.

  • fucking love them

  • fuckin white boyz stealin reggae songz and makin em suck

  • @zambia96 shut up you dick

  • @zambia96 lol u mad?

  • Im sorry but they butchered the original version. Junior Mervin is rolling in his grave...

  • @thehebrewhammer420 Junior Murvin is still alive and he liked this version.

  • @haymaker710 then it seems his inevitable grave-rolling is postponed.

  • @thehebrewhammer420 It's been over 30 years since they covered his song, I think he's gotten over it.

  • @haymaker710

    Touche' ! lol

  • @thehebrewhammer420 hahahahaha! you moron, that's like saying bob dylan didn't like jimi hendrix's cover of all along the watchtower

  • @thehebrewhammer420 You should know that The Clash version was produced by scratch perry, the same guy that produced Murvin's original.

  • do any of you have anything better to do? stfu and enjoy the song people. this is the internet and ppl say ignorant shit. welcome to the world wide web.stfu. stfu.

  • BBB BERRICS > 2010 Highlights.

  • I love how the drum beat tempo changes right at the beggining only the clash can do that and it still sound amazing.

  • 1tokeover fuck you this is a tune ! you don't know what your talking about

  • Comment removed

  • This is crap compared to Junior Murvin. This just sounds like a bunch of wierdos with annoying dumb accents

  • @1tokeover Buy musical taste or ears, or both. Good day

  • EVERYBODY!~

put thumbs down on this guy for saying what he did

    but please forgive him

he doesn't know what he's talking about u_u

    this is a MASTERPIECE

and best of all...the best and original version

  • @DonnieGretchen This isn't the original version ding dong. Police & Theives is Junior Murvin's and was intended to be a reggae tune. But some cookes had to make it into hipster punk rock shit

  • @1tokeover

I like this version a hole hell of a lot more than the original. Reggae is more of a hipster sound than punk and i like both, so how about just saying the guy was wrong. which he is and it was a rather ignorant statement.

  • @1tokeover Taken from The Clash City Rockers song it's self: SHUT YOUR MOUTH!

  • AMAZING
