That's one hell of a launch by the Jeep. But it ends there. ALL American V8 muscle machines perform the same. They produce ultra low end punch but nothing in the high speed ranges which is why despite all torque and launching and loud ragged noise, the GT-R just slips on by as if it were lubricated. Also WHY try to race a Jeep against a full blown AWD sports car? Stupid. People are always try to prove, "I can go faster than you with less money". But wind up spending more to go faster anyway.

@TylerNoelify I say this because they don't. Most of the muscle cars are very heavy, aren't designed with much aerodynamic efficiency in mind. At least the old 1957 67 and classics weren't. But look at the current Mustang and Camaro. The drag co-efficients are much higher than ANY of the European and Japanese competitors. I'm just stating facts here. Because the engines produce power at the low to midranges, gearing is the only thing to help it out with high top speeds.

Take the newest Camaro 1SS. It has a 6.5L V8 producing only 426HP. This is an example of NOT taking edvantage of volumetric efficiency. An engine of that size should be producing well over 600 HP WITHOUT A SUPERCHARGER. Now look at BMW's M3 with a 4.0L V8 producing 420 HP DIN...See?

Look at it like this, if you do a HP per liter calculation, the Chevy is only producing 65.5 HP per liter....if that is the case, then why do you need such huge displacement?? Complete waste. This means that the Chevy V8 is not even using the extra 2.5 liters of displacment. The other reason is because these engines remain in the old technology state........

The cylinder heads use a 2 valve per cylinder configuration, the camshafts are still in the block and they still use the pushrod set-up. These alone will ALWAYS limit the Chevy's V8. With a 2 valve set-up and pushrods, the cylinder heads will NEVER flow enough air for such large displacment. And you wouldn't be able to make intake ports large enough to flow the proper amount of air to the engine. This is the third reason.

@TylerNoelify It probably only had an upgrade to the exhausts and downpipes, ECU retuned, maybe upgraded turbos and piping and intercooler....Or maybe they just increased the boost.....At least Ford is starting to realize that old designs just well don't cut it anymore. They are the only American brand who's engines feature a DOHC 4 valve set up. If anything, I'd be willing to bet that Ford will get it right.

The jeep is probably close to almost 6000 lb gw. Also Jeep with the supercharger will still run less than the cheapest used GTR in the country, wheres the P800 requires reinforced tranny!!

GTR switzer is a 9 seconds car, it burns the 0-60 just in 2.8 secs...do the people really think that jeep, a 13.x... secs car, that needs 5 secs to run at 60mph, is faster tha GTR? people's so mistaken. in add, what some guys tell here down is true, gtr made a pretty bad start. Jeep is fast, ok, cause the complete traction makes miracles with a srt8 engine, but not enough for leave a GTR behind...

@TylerNoelify The technology is the same as it was 54 years ago. The cylinder heads use a 2 valve per cylinder configuration, the camshafts are still in the block and they still use the pushrod set-up. These alone will ALWAYS limit the Chevy's V8. With a 2 valve set-up and pushrods, the cylinder heads will NEVER flow enough air for such large displacment. And you wouldn't be able to make intake ports large enough to flow the proper amount of air to the engine. This is the third reason.

BY VERY WIDE MARGINS. And one of the most humiliating facts of all: It was outguned by a 3.8L V6. An engine that is a whopping 3.2 liters smaller with less HP. @TylerNoelify In the short amount of time the Jeep SRT-8 was ahead, I can bet the distance was not even an 1/8th mile. Not even close to a 1/4 Mile. Imagine spending $55-60K on a high powered Jeep, then spending and extra 10K to have the engine gouged out and adding a larger supercharger with all the fixins only to get smoked by a car with smaller displacement and power in less than an 1/8 mile distance. Should have just bought the damn Nissan.

@TylerNoelify It probably only had an upgrade to the exhausts and downpipes, ECU retuned, maybe upgraded turbos and piping and intercooler....Or maybe they just increased the boost.....At least Ford is starting to realize that old designs just well don't cut it anymore. They are the only American brand who's engines feature a DOHC 4 valve set up. If anything, I'd be willing to bet that Ford will get it right.

@krocialblack I would have to agree with you on the dicks that have GTR wallpapers on their computers and the budget to buy a Yugo. Also the jeep weighs a whole lot more than 4700 lbs so you are downplaying how much of a run for its money it gave the GTR. I have an e55 amg and that weighs almost 5100 lbs. The jeep is probably close to almost 6000 lb gw. Also Jeep with the supercharger will still run less than the cheapest used GTR in the country, wheres the P800 requires reinforced tranny!!

sorry i want understand ........to the video cars start to 7 s and to 14s i see 120 km/h and to 23s 200km/h..........7s to 120km/h and 9s to 200km/h so 16s to 0-200 km/h not so fast for a 426+ comp( i now 2.2 tonnes).........my gmc syclone (stock motor) juste, chip, fuel regulator, fuel pompe,manual turbo boost (19 psi), cat back and good spark , ran 0-150km/h in 7.68s and 0-200km/h in 13.68s..............not so bad !!! no ?? see you

Nissan didn't start with launch control on. GTR switzer is a 9 seconds car, it burns the 0-60 just in 2.8 secs...do the people really think that jeep, a 13.x... secs car, that needs 5 secs to run at 60mph, is faster tha GTR? people's so mistaken. in add, what some guys tell here down is true, gtr made a pretty bad start. Jeep is fast, ok, cause the complete traction makes miracles with a srt8 engine, but not enough for leave a GTR behind...
