don't go to auburn maine anthony the police dept do not like tourist and will impound your car for a money scam for the city. tourist beware and stay clear of that town
My home is literally one town over from Monson (Abbot) and Spring Creek's a nice place. Very nice folks that own that place. Lakeshore Pub (also in Monson) is a nice spot, too. It's good that Bourdain came up to an ACTUAL part of Maine for one. Southern Maine has too many out-of-staters, or flatlanders, as we sometimes call them. The real Maine is north of Augusta. Zach Zamboni deserves cred for pitching Milo, too.
Sometimes it feels like I'm a duel citizen of two different worlds, being able to go from northern traditional maine to more worldly southern maine and feel comfortable in both
Maine..it's all good. The people are real, not plastic, genuine, unspun, family centered, hard working. Living in a gorgeous four season unspoiled backdrop. Less people, the ones we have friendlier, aware of how lucky we are living in Maine.
Lets face it...Rockland is a ghost town in the wintah, and a tourist trap in the summah! Portland is welll...Portland, an immigrant destination. I am glad Anthony at least got a taste of local life by visiting Milo, even tho I don't snowmobile (don't like the cold). And YES, I am a Mainah, and live in midcoast on 17 acres...
This show proves that coastal and southern Maine have been stolen from real Mainahs by hippy freaks from away! I would much prefer eating that bean suppah or camp quisine other than that nasty non food in portland and rockland by those "pretend" mainers! It looked to me that Bordain had a much better time in Milo and camp than he had with the dope in portland and the nimrods in rockland swimming in the COLD OCEAN in february! What a bunch of idiots!
@charmon5 Are you in where I live? Are you living my life? Do you have the same likes and dislikes as me? No, you do not. People have different senses of humor. Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make them wrong or their opinion wrong. Please put a little more thought into your comments next time. Thanks.
That is like going to Texas for maple syrup!

They have a resturant in downtown Monson! The railcars are run in the winter and during parties at the pit! Definately worth the trip.

Oh my, I'm glad that I'm from Southern Maine as opposed to that place.
I'm not glad I'm from Maine at all.
But, at least So. is better than this.

@3halvesproductions So leave. You're just proving those guys at the beginning correct with a remark like that.
