  • GENE WILDER!!!

  • gene wilder if you are reading this please please return to acting or make an album of songs

  • Will you come and join the dance?

    D-ah-nce!

(Great way to ask someone to a dance :-)

  • @Scruffy193 YES. this IS the best Alice, hands down! +best

  • Pretty

  • “Will you walk a little faster?” said a whiting to a snail, “There’s a porpoise close behind us, and he’s treading on my tail. See how eagerly the lobsters and the turtles all advance! They are waiting on the shingle—will you come and join the dance? Will you, won’t you, will you, won’t you, will you join the dance? Will you, won’t you, will you, won’t you, won’t you join the dance?

  • i've been looking for this movie for years but only just now found it because i searched "lobster" out of randomness

  • Tim Burton can go suck a lemon... THIS is the best Alice in Wonderland - straight from the book, yet very unique.

  • @Scruffy193 YES :( I really love Tim Burton but his film was so dry and...euh, I don't know. The plot kind of sucked, if you could say there actually was a plot.

  • @Scruffy193 Cartoon my favorite :( This one is still awesome though. I like Tim Burton's tho b'c of how well he represents the bad guys- Bandersnatch and Jabberwocky, thought their not quite mad in that one, but anyway I think all are good b/c one is original, and they keep getting more mordern. No one is better then the other :D

  • @SylvverInWonderland This one's my favourite. I sort of grew up watching this one, rather than the Disney one, though strangely, I have the 2 disney ones on DVD but not this one :s I barely remember the first Disney one. I sort of liked the new one... up until the futterwacken. That's just cringe-worthy...

  • @Scruffy193 True Dat

    Completely agree with u

  • i used to watch this every time i went to my grandma's when i was a kid, so many good memories..this is an awesome movie.

  • @jjesaveluk YESSSS SAME! this movie jst makes me soo happy!

  • I love the amount of sarcasm in this movie. So much of it that goes unnoticed when you're younger.

  • This is my favorite Alice movie of all the 8 or 9.

  • I was humming this the other night and it helped me get to sleep :3 btw-your never too old for this movie. I loved it when I was 7, I love it even more now, it's ten years later! :)

  • this song is the only thing that calms my toddler down, I love it

  • OMGOSH!! it's Gene Wilder!!! :)

  • This is so much better than Tim Burton's piece of shit

  • is it wrong that i've known the lyrics to this poem for years?

  • "Will you, won't you, will you, won't you join the dance?" "Dahnce!" haha I love this movie. =)

  • i love this version of alice in wonderland

  • This soundly thrashes the Tim Burton version.

  • tweedles :)

  • You are suppose to throw the lobster INTO THE SEA! Not into the AIR! Apart from that the Mock turtle did not sing the full song - only 35% of it. This is not a very accurate version of the original Aliice story.

  • @LewisCarrollsAlice That's because it's a combination of "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass."

  • @Flaylexfayte Stuffs and nonsense!

  • something about seeing Gene Wilder in this scene (playing one of my favorite characters from the story) is so heartwarming.

  • See, I can't watch without thinking "why is Willy Wonka with Deb?"

  • @HappyEmmy23 hahahaaa, i know right? goodness. still wonderful though :)

  • Yeah Tweedes favorite song!!!!

  • @gnarlish i love the tweedles !!

  • Wow, this version was amazing.

    Makes me feel so nostalgic.

  • You have a nice voice

  • Twins :)

  • @henanimejade hello, by any chance have i stumbled across a fellow tumblr? ;)

  • @totallyawsome96 you're a tumblr? I can't even! what's your url?

  • They should soooo make this available on itunes!! I would buy that.

  • I grew up on this version because the Disney version always scared me as a kid XD

  • Ain, tô louca pra baixar esse filme T-T

  • DAAAHHHHNCE.

  • I love this version

  • I do hate performing too, but every time I hear Gene Wilder singing 'will you won't you join the dance?' I say 'of COURSE I will!' xD I love him, really.

Great version of Alice in Wonderland, and awesome Mock Turtle :)

  • i love alice in wonderland <3

  • WHAT THE HEEEECK!!!!!??

  • gotta love gene wilder XD

  • OH MY GOD I REMEMBER THIS MOVIE!!! :O <3

  • ‘Will you walk a little faster?" said a whiting to a snail. "There's a porpoise close behind us, and he's treading on my tail. See how eagerly the lobsters and the turtles all advance! They are waiting on the shingle; will you come and join the dance? Will you won't you, will you, won't you, will you join the dance? Will you won't you, will you, won't you, won't you join the dance?' LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH! <3

  • ‘You can really have no notion how delightful it will be, when they take us up and throw us, with the lobsters, out to sea!" But the snail replied "Too far, too far!" and gave a look askance-- Said he thanked the whiting kindly, but he would not join the dance. Would not, could not, would not, could not, and would not join the dance. Would not, could not, would not, could not, and could not join the dance.”

  • @Anglzcrytoo101 "What matters it how far we go?" His scaly friend replied :)

  • This is a great song...used to sing it with my kids when they were younger.

  • It was great to see Gene Wilder acting again.

  • Gah. I love the story, but in this adaptation, I'd have to agree with the gryphon; the American accent just does not work at all with this song.

Mind, I'm not disrespecting Gene Wilder - I'm sure there are plenty of people who adore his work - but his was not the voice to do this in.

  • is that girl in napolean dynamite

  • @rusle1 yep

  • Gene Wilder is the best!

  • :O it is willie wonka!

  • please explain to me how this version is the best version ever made (in my opinion) while the same director made the 2009 adaptation "Alice" (the one that aired on 'syfy') which was just... ugh, so bad... >_<

  • This is really fucking scary!

  • gene wilder!i really love his singing!

  • I think it's much, much better than the Franz Ferdinand version.

  • I love this song!!! and I also like this movie alot!

  • This is hysterical! I love this!

  • WTF!!!!

  • @LintuLoka lol Yes, That is WIlly Wonka! :)

  • Alice looks a little like Alyson Hannigan here.

Gene Wilder is a great mock turtle.

  • @gnrrrg I Love Gene Wilder, he was great in Young Frankenstein!

  • @gnrrrg In my opinion, Alice looks like Jennifer Stone in Wizards Of Waverly Place!

  • GENE WILDER?!

  • are they all high?

  • hehe

  • I got the DVD of this version

  • Dude!! Is the Turtle Gean Wilder?!?!?!? [The orginal Willy Wonka]

    Thats creppy!!

    O.O

  • thisis the best Alice in Wonderland

  • This was (and still is) my favorite part of the book.

  • i love this version and the Tim Burrton version I dont remeber the disney one...

  • This is one of the best versions of Alice In Wonderland <3 love it x

  • the latest version of alice in wonderland is very mythical, compared to this one, i like both of them the best, and i absoloutley love this song:)

  • do they have a soundtrack out for this movie

  • @Esperanza243: Yes, it is the best I have ever seen as well. I saw the Alice in Wonderland 3D the other day (it is sort of a sequel to the first Alice in Wonderland story) and I thought this movie was sooo much better, even though they are sort of two seperate storylines.

  • @LintuLoka: Yes, the Mock Turtle (Actor: Gene Wilder) was Willy Wonka in the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971).

  • This is my favourite version of that song!

Love this alice in wonderland! ^.^

  • Have you heart the version of Franz Ferdinand?

it's better fitting I think. More depressing, like it should be.

  • I thought this scene was supposed to be depressing....or atleast that's how I imagined it in the book. I mean, the mock turtle was crying, wasn't he?

  • I love this part in the book and I love Gene Wilder in this movie.

  • My favorite part. I loved it so much as a kid and still do. The Franz Ferdinad version is really cool too.

  • see at some point in this film...

does alice and everyone play some kind of game where they chase eachother about everywhere :L?

and alice ends up winning and she like wins a mint or something ?

if anyone knows what the hell im talking about fancy telling me what the games called :L, or even if they do just know what im talking about :L

  • A Caucus Race! XD

  • oh i know... she plays this game with the guy who was mr. mouse (and his friends of course). that is sometime in the beginning...sorry i don't know the name of the game.

  • @CaitlinLovesRobbieW yep, a caucus race. they all win and she gives them sweets and gets given her own thimble in this film

  • this might sound really stupid but at some point in this film do they play like a game thing? like i think its chasing everyone round and alice ends up winning like a mint :L?

if anyone knows what the hell im talking about fancy telling mewhat the game was called :$:L?

  • this makes me sooo happy watching it X3

  • Lovely!

  • love how she laughs with the music

  • This version of Alice In Wonderland is so much better than any version I've seen. At least in my opinion.

    I love this movie.

  • @Esperanza243

i agree!! i mean dont mind me i do like the newer version of alice in wonderland ... but this version is awesome!! i love it! its my favorite movie...

  • @Esperanza243 I agree. I think this is best. Along with the 2010 version.

  • @CosmicAngel16

I have this very tape. It's not called Through the Looking Glass. It's called Alice In Wonderland.

  • i thought it was called Through the Looking Glass, my mistake sorry

  • thas the book, they kept the same title for the movie

  • Love the Franz Ferdinand version.

Is that the girl from Napolean Dynamite?

  • FF did an AMAZING job for the soundtrack!! The movie is gonna be great

  • omg, is he willy wonka?! XD

  • @LintuLoka

Yeah, that's Gene Wilder, the actor from the original Willy Wonka film.

  • @LintuLoka yeah

  • @LintuLoka Gene Wilder

  • @LintuLoka Haha! YES!! LOL! Ur so funny!

  • @LintuLoka His name is Gene Wilder

  • Comment removed

  • Wait... Is that Gene Wilder as the Mock Turtle?!

    WHAT.

  • This version is one of my favourite movies ever!! I really wanna see the tim burton one too!!!!!! He's a genius

  • yeah but sadly it isnt very good

and this song is suppoused to be dark and depressing according to the books

  • Yeah, I know. Franz Ferdinand did a good job on it.

  • Yah i cant wait for franz ferdinand to sing this, alex kapranos is simply amazing! i have all their songs and a poster of them in my rom..i was suprised to see their name on the cd list.. i didnt expect a european band on it..

  • Robert Smith & Franz Ferdinand = My absolute 2 favorites! Can't wait to hear their songs for the movie!!!

  • What song did rob smith do for the movie

    ??

I'm excited now... i love the cure and Franz Ferdinand!!

  • He did 'Very Good Advice'. I can't wait to hear them! :D

  • Listening to the soundtrack now. The FF and RS songs are the best because they take the whimsy of their assignments seriously.

  • Franz Ferdinand are going to perform this song for the Tim Burton movie

  • I have been trying to remember the tune for DAYS!

  • i have got to say this is the best version of alice in wonderland

  • i totally agree!!

  • This movie IS Alice in Wonderland! Read the book and its scary; every wonderland line is said word for word! My brother and I LOVE this movie!

  • I love this song to death, I even memorized it so that I could sing it myself. This has to be my favourite version of Alice in Wonderland, though not sure why it didn't sell, I ended up getting the DVD in a cereal box, made me sad that it being sold in cereal and at the same time happy that I managed to get it on DVD.

  • ME TOO!

  • I love this movie so much I rented it from blockbuster and I'm going to keep it long enough to have to pay for it. XD

  • GENE WILDER FOREVER!

So mad Tim Burton doesn't have Mock Turtle in it. I MEAN COME ON!

  • this si my favorite version:) I have it on vhs!

  • This my favorite version too!! I have it pn DVD.

  • i have this video. sadly, its on vhs, and its getting ruined. one of my favorite versions of alice in wonderland. the lighting is amazing during the whole movie

  • It was an okay movie. (I happen to own it on VHS) However, I did find some parts to be quite boring. (Even though they were some of my favorite parts in Through the Looking Glass.) And then some were just too over the top, even for a world of nonsense. But I did visually like some of it, as well. (Though I think some of the casting was off. For real...what the heck was up with the Cheshire cat? Whoopie? Her voice was too calming for him.)

But I did enjoy this song. Thanks for posting!

  • i would love to own this movie. im a huge alice fan, and this version looks very well done.

  • i've never seen a version of alice in wonderland that i was completely satified with but i do really like this version. Gene Wilder is great as the mock-turtle.

  • I LOVE that gryphon. it is the most amazing puppet in the movie

  • i dont mean to sound stupid but... where can i get this song? im begging i love it!!! ^.^ says the lil 13 yr old

  • i love all of her giggles!
