I remember when I first saw this - and recently saw it again and remembered how embarrassed for WHo and the Daleks - you see both dalek factions firing at one another and shouting death threats- until the camera angle changes and you then see both factions of the Daleks are only 4-5 feet away from each other! Small set or not, are they really that bad in aiming their guns?

No, they are imperials. White daleks are always imperials in the last two classic stories. You could even say that the two gray daleks at the end of resurection where an early form of imperial dalek.

No, you're wrong. These are not Imperials. Imperials are only in Remembrance of the Daleks, these are called Davros' Daleks. Even though they pretty much are the same type of Dalek, they do have differences (like the name)

Yeah, as you say Ressurection had a sort of early imperials but not given a name. They turned into Davros' Daleks in Revalation and then they made Davros their emporer and turned into the deadly, and unstopable Imperial Daleks!

because the Dark ones (renegades) were built by Davros, but he programmed them to be the superior beings and noone else is greater, but when he tried to order them, they didnt understand. So he built ones that are loyal, the gold and white ones (imperials) which serve Davros. they both dont understand eachother, that's why they fight

What really got to me in this episode were the voices. Evil of the Daleks (2nd doctor story) sported the best Dalek voices in the entire series, the ring modulator worked perfectly! In this story, I struggle to believe they even had voice modulators... Such a shame...

And another point I'd like to add is that the Imperial Daleks were not even called Imperials until Davros assumed the throne as the Dalek Emperor, and the renegades were called Skaro Daleks until rebelling against the newly appointed Emperor.

I'd have to say they're my favorite, too. Along with the black supreme daleks. After seeing the Season 4 finale of the New Series, it made me wonder why Davros didn't make his new empire out of imperial daleks when Dalek Caan saved him. If he had done that, the red supreme dalek and the rest of them wouldn't have locked him up. Plus, it would have added a different, unique factor that R.T.D.'s other dalek episodes kinda lacked.

The daleks were disloyal to Davros in The Stolen Earth and Journey's End but they were not disobedient to him. They actually obeyed every command he gave them without question (even the Supreme Dalek). But of course, they would have been disobedient to him if they did not need his guidance which is the reason why they were keeping him alive. They were dependent on his authority. They tolerated him as their leader rather than respected him as their leader and he was simultaneously their prisoner.

I think Caan tricked Davros into creating renegades. If Davros created imperials, he probably would have had no dalek destruction emergency panel in his chamber so the Doctor and his companions would have found no way to destroy Davros's new empire. Caan was orchestrating the daleks' downfall.

Then again, Imperial daleks are not always daleks loyal to Davros. "Imperial dalek" simply means daleks loyal to the Dalek Emperor. When Davros was the Emperor of the Daleks, the ones loyal to him were Imperial daleks and the ones loyal to the Emperor Dalek in The Parting of the Ways were Imperial daleks too because they were loyal to their Emperor.
