The design engineers at Kel-Tec could make it an autoloader, but that is not their goal. Their goal is to make this shotgun 50 state legal...that is why it's a manual pump AND manual loader. They also want to keep the weight and price down so more people could buy one. I'm thankful for their efforts as I can buy one of these in California if and when they are back in stock.

Very interesting design, but I can imagine it being a bit difficult to reload under high-stress (combat) conditions. On the other hand, it doesn't need to be reloaded very often. It's an interesting trade-off in any case.

Btw, I can't say enough about my PLR-16. 3000 plus rounds and going strong. My favorite weapon to shoot and a real eye catcher at the range, as the KSG will be as well. Kel-Tec Rocks. Despite the slots in the feed tubes, I will still purchase this shotgun. I do wish though that it would fit into my saddlebags. If it did, I bet all the cop bikes would have one. I'm sure Kel-Tec could make one of the baddest shorty's on the market.

The magazine tubes wouldn't need drainage holes if there weren't any holes in them to begin with. The two giant holes in the back of the feed tubes should work well enough for that. But if you find yourself in a situation of rain, or sandy wind, the holes will assure the rounds inside are going to get wet or sandy. My hats off to Kel-Tec on the weapons, but they should have come up with a different solution or just left well enough alone.

Love the weapon, don't like the slots in the magazine tubes at all. More holes for dirt to enter is just a bad idea I feel. The shooter should full well know how many rounds they have.

@worknplay5377 This was my opinion also, but I did find one bonus for the slots, when in water or other harsh environment the holes offer drainage. For quick clean I spray electric motor cleaner (plastic safe) in each hole-drain out slots and oil without disassymbly....works between full cleanings or when its not practical to clean fully.

I would still rather not have them, but if you do why not make them work for you. Good Luck.

I bet you could incorporate a magazine in conjunction with the dual tube design. The mag would simply begin extraction when the tubes and chamber are empty, feeding the next round straight into the chamber. Empty rounds could be ejected out of the side but I'm sure this would change the whole internal design.

If the other shotguns you've tried have failed to hold the final shell in their magazine tubes, it's likely the KSG is the same. I tried to verify that for you, but I was told the type of Centurion ammo we use here is not the "Buck and Ball" type that you're referring to.

Ideas: A ported muzzel, or muzzel break. Your shoulder didn't look too happy (could be an attachment). Move the tube selector switch closer to the firing hand (you can do it). And I'd find another way to check the number of rounds. The idea of having holes where mud and dirt can get into the gun could be a problem. Other than that, it looks pretty good.
