Mr Ford I have always been more of a Chevy man but like your small and large cars Thank you for your familys contributions to America. . My name is Robert Sandera running for President as an Independent I have a plan to create over 100 million jobs and put us back to work the way Henry did with an engine I have getting over 100 MPG the question is do people want to support me or get lied to by millionaire Billionaires? I would like to work with Ford and GM for the Good of AMERICA
I dont understand why management was simply allowed to opt out of their concessionary obligations, while the hourly people are being subjected to involuntary servitude, being forced to labor under their concessions.
I am tired of waiting for ford to sell a focus that can run with a Subaru wrx sti. The focus ST is the best they can do? Even people in the Ukraine get the RS. From my 66 cortina GT, to my 89 Probe GT that I miss, to my 2002 focus zx5 ,and all the ford pickups my family owns, I love them all. But when other countries get an RS and I can't here in the USA, they are loosing it. Sorry but Subaru or Mitsubishi might be getting my business. WAKE UP FORD YOU MIGHT BE LOSING A LOYAL CUSTOMER!

Ford needs to do one thing. Retool the fucking ignition keylock systems for their cars. Last year i bought a car, ford was still having horrible problems with their focus ignitions. Talked to a friend about fords said they had the same problem with their brothers Explorer and we had a Escort with a problem ignition key lock. Fords run great if you can get the fucker to start. Also a new car, every new car should come with a spare tire. Come on ford. Get your shit together.
@Fordman06777 What I really like is the slogan "Try Total Performance For A Change" Ford should bring back that slogan. I'm from detroit and all three car makers are very important to me and this nation..
I just wish they gave us engine choices, I mean, the Europeans have it made. How about you guys give us a piece of the pie? Only now you guys are bringing over the top notch quality small cars. For years you sold us cheap pieces of crap because we would buy it and not complain. This is the reason you lost customers to the Japanese and the Germans. Hopefully its not too late for you.
yeah...ford is actually the only one that stated that it didn't *need* bailout money. I personally don't like ford cars in general, but just the fact that they make the mustang is good enough for me.
I'm delighted to see Bill Ford displaying a talent as the leader of the Ford family and the keeper of the spirit of Ford. I don't think he was able to achieve many his goals as the head of the Ford Company, probably because he was a weak administrator. But he showed great courage in bringing in Mulally who is doing exceptionally well with all the things that Bill Ford could not do. One day Bill's vision and social leadership will attain similar fame as that of his great grandfather. Go Bill.
I am so glad that Ford is going in a new direction. I never thought that Ford was unreliable in the first place, as my 1988 Ford Ranger is still as dependable as it was 5, 10, 15, or even 20 years ago. Good job Ford.
Damn man, you got me there. I call you out on your bullshit and you respond with the cry of 12 year olds through the ages. "Oh yeah? Well you're gay!".
I guess global economic meltdown is to be blamed for this..but a part of it also goes to the way American cars have been projected throughout the years. They always gave an impression of big huge, muscle cars..with powerful engines and heavy gas consumption..they still do and I cant think of one Japanese brand that resembles it. Now I'm hoping its not too late..even if they try to put things back together who will buy their cars? Trust plays a major role in this market.
if only M.r Bill Ford had followed what he said in this video, the company would not have been in this situation today...well I'm hoping its not too late..its hard to imagine that some of the biggest names in the history of modern society are on the verge of almost closing down.
I don't understand why everyone is soooo worried about a 15 billion dollar loan to GM and Chrysler. The problem facing the big 3 has to do with the credit crisis. They had projections of car sales from a year ago, budgeted themselves for it. It was planned to be a losing year as they are all in an expensive restructuring plan. Credit crisis killed sales for all companies (including toyota), so the big 3 got caught while vulnerable during a restructuring. Meanwhile you don't complain about banks.
after making the crappiest, less eco-friendly cars in the world and failing of course....They have a new direction and we have to bail them out with our tax dollars???
Ohh Don't forget these people were the ones who flew to Washington asking for our tax dollars in private jets! I hope Ford falls deep no matter how hard is the outcome towards the economy. They only care for the paychecks that we "the tax payers" are going to keep funding with the bailout!
No way, Jose(jnr). First of all, Ford did not accept any money from the federal funding for GM & Chrysler.
Second, to say that Ford has the least (I assume that's what you meant by "less") eco-friendly cars in the world is blatantly wrong. Ford introduced the first hybrid from a U.S. automaker in 2005 (the Escape). And the soon-to-be-released Fusion just got 52 mpg in real-world testing by the L.A. Times auto reviewer.
Not accepting it, doesn't mean Ford didn't go to Washington D.C. begging for a piece of the bailout, why did Allan Mulally went to DC? To show off his private jets that later proposed to sell in order to receive part of the bail out? Also, having 1 hybrid (not counting the Mercury or the Mazda)because they are the same car with different badges does not cover for all the other SUV's and Trucks that are not eco-friendly. Soon to be released doesn't count.Consumers judge on what you currently have!
you need to realize the problem with the big 3 has nothing to do with the trucks they SELL. The immediate problem is the fianncial crisis which is even hurting toyota. The less immiediate problem is the legacy cost, and the more interim problems have been the spikes in fuel prices which hurt SUV sales. Hybrids aren't even profitable so the lack of hybrids isn't what is hurting them right now, but that could hurt them in the future. Ford's new Fusion Hybrid beats the Toyota Camry Hybrid by 6 mpg.
The reason why Ford went to washington was to help the other two detroit automakers get their loans. IF one of the 3 fail, the common part suppliers will be even more strained from already weak demand. Even toyota said that if one of the big 3 went out that all north american production would have to stop from part supplier failures.
The reason Ford went was to show support for our U.S. competitors. Our businesses are inextricably linked through the vast supplier network we share. If anything happened to GM or Chrysler, it in turn affects the 80% of the suppliers we share and would result in us not being able to meet demand.
And believe it or not, there are millions of Americans who need larger vehicles, either for their families or for the work they perform.
I like most of what Bill Ford says here, but part of me thinks it's a lot like listening to a politician. I will trust independent auto experts far more than I will trust him at this point.
The largest mistake done by the industry done, was to outsource production to Asian countries like japan, giving the technologies and know-how to them for "free", giving them the opportunity to build and perfect "our" know-how, thus making better products and out competing our products.
In the hunt for efficiency and economic optimizing we sold our selves to the "devil" and now western car makers is the losers as no2 or less as the Asian manufactures have taking over the no1 positions as the biggest/most selling in the world.
We forgot "with what price" outsourcing comes with. But lesson is not learned and we will see the same thing happen with the IT-sector as the IT-companies are in big scale outsourcing their know-how to companies in India and the rest of the asian world.
But the rest is good to know, people need to give the American automakers another chance, and the automakers have to convince people to do so as well.
i hope Forad actually have a good chance to survive. now that our economy is in such bad shape.. it just seems like everything is falling apart. i hope all of this will pass and put all this behind us.
I think Ford actually have a good chance to survive this crisis but a lot still to be done. There are also poistive developments for Ford, an ecample new mondeo in europe voted car of the year in many countries and fairly good sales numbers clearly people love the car. What for needs in US is repeat its " taurus" also build quality cars is not enough... Ford really must overcome of its "american quality" image in order to complete with Toyota and others. Hope it works out for you guys! Best
