Anyone with a basic understanding of global economics will tell you that food and oil prices are so high because of a global economic recession, that began in America. Advising people to attempt to save food costs by shopping elsewhere and not throwing out as much is just one way, and one that is universally achievable, to tackle the problem of high food prices and reduce the burden on families in Britain. It may be obvious, but publicly urging families to do so emphasises its importance
hahaha i relly like your political views. With the prices going up everywhere there has to be an end to the prices going up cause if they go up too high im sure there be a revolt sometime if the governments keep doing what there doing.
omg...I can totally understand why you got annoyed by this advice...he should just try to get the prices down SOMEHOW but to give advice on what is really ovious doesn't make any sense...
I think it's good that you did THIS video without planning it so much because one could really see how much it bothered you...
I love your crazy rants...you should add a crazy rant day to the schedule that you never keep =)
And your completely right...the government is supposed to plan ahead in order to make things easy for the country they represent, and here we have a throw away comment on an issue that could basically impoverish anyone whose dinners arent paid for by taxes (hidden dig at greedy MPs there)
And would anyone notice if government was abolished? Most services could better be provided for elsewhere...
Never apologize for being real! You are right to be outraged at the insipid, lunkheaded advice from a leader. He missed the brain line at birth. Out of touch indeed! You go guy!
I personally think that MPs are thinking about themselves more than their people. Politics is trying to turn our country in a totalitarian society, almost communist society.
I believe we should've had an election when Tony Blair stepped down, because I most CERTAINLY wouldn't have voted for him.

Brown is right though, people shouldn't waste so much food, like a third of food people buy is wasted
It might seem obvious but people don't realise it, as the Dispatches documentary on the food crisis showed
The average person doesn't know how to manage, you might know how to, many people know how to, but the average person doesn't, hence ludicrous amounts of personal debt, food waste, and general financial mismanagement
I'm hardly the biggest fan of Brown, but I really do disagree with you
Hi Gordon Brown here ...may i just say.....fak orf mate...no wot i meen....ya gonna get dun in if yoo ang around ere-now scarpa ya bag o shit else arl av ya gud an propa .....bye for now ,Gord x
Thank you for making this vblog about what Gordon Brown said!
I have been ranting about this to everyone and anyone who would listen since I saw it in the Times yesterday. It's such a ridiculous comment to make, we are on the brink of a recession, it's so obvious that the average British family would by mindful of their outgoings, and to be honest, considering that the majority of people are doing their best to be 'green',
along with the dramatic rise in food prices and utilities etc, I agree, it really is patronising. And MP's today are so, so out of touch with the general public...Comments such as these only strengthens the belief that we are living in a nanny state.
Seems no one is getting a fair shake from politics these days. I can completely relate to your statement about politicians not being able to connect with the average person and being out of touch as well as the need for a whole overhaul of politics in general.
Gordon Brown:"Hey everyone,if you buy less food...it costs less money!".WOW.Next thing you know they'll be able to run the country!(joke)
I also agree with you about MPs - these days they're more interested in paperwork than people.Yes,they can wip out the 'ole ballpoint and sign stuff, but when do they actually get involved with the people whose problems they're supposed to be dealing with?Sorry if I'm completely missing the point you were trying to make.
I think they need more interns! Students are usually the poorest. By getting more interns in the offices they can balance it out a bit? Get some advice? I dunno.
I don't know that much about politics :S. Especially politics from a different country than mine.
The G8 isn't over yet, but from a German perspective the Brown Waste Food Initiative seems to have sunk without trace. The reporting here has focussed on the US unwillingness to admit/agree that we have a major greenhouse gas problem NOW (not in 2050).
Jazza, absolutely correct, politics in the UK are in meltdown and this goes for ALL PARTIES. Electing Tories simply propagates the same nonsense with different (and far more sinister) means: they have learnt nothing from their decade in opposition. The first thing they will do with POWER is to chuck RESPONSIBILITY out of the nearest available window. Basically they are already in government: Labour has spent its time running scared from the jaws of the Murdoch/Black (Tory) press.
Gordon really isnt doing very well for the country.
And yeah, I believe that okay, when Tony left, Gordon was put incharge because Britian needs a PM; but we should have had an election, while he was temping.
Its funny how we all thought it was going to be a huge turning point, but now, I dont know one person who's glad we have him as PM.
even though you think that your unstructured vlog is a mess, you still make a good point. most political leaders have no clue how normal people live their lives and should just butt out completely.
i'm sure gordon brown must be better then George W. Bush.
I agree that most high up politicians don't have a clue about how the "average family" runs their home. They should try coming down to earth once in a while and actually try to live on the amount of money that we get, and see how they deal with all the taxes and new charges that are coming into place in the not too distant future.
jazza that was great i think u should not plan ur videos more often!! i think obama is great too but we will see who wins i hope it is obama b/c i do live in the US and i dont think i could deal with another republican
gordan brown can just fuck off. he actually just pisses me off sooo much! and i think by now everyone has realised that cutting down on wated food is a solution to the rediculous prices of well everything really.
You should do vlogs like this more often! It's great to see your passion about a subject. I agree with you about Brown keeping away from giving the country advice. It's the taxes that are keeping food prices up. About half of the cost of fuel is just tax, which is ridiculous.
If I pay for the food, and I don't want it, or I can't be bothered to fucking eat it, then I'll fucking well throw it in the bin if I want Brown you patronising TWAT.
Keep up the ranting Jazza, we're all on your side mate.
But thats exactly what brown is saying, why the fuck would you buy food if you don't intend to eat it??? And who the fuck can't be bothered to eat food, why don't you just buy enough food to eat, eat it all and buy some more, if everyone does that it will help to keep food prices down, not to mention keep your expenditure down on the whole.
Millions of people are dying in africa and there's the like of you that ''can't be bothered to fucking eat it''.
Though unstructured, your point was well thought out and put across. I agree that polititians are so alienated from the general public. With the amount Gordon Brown earns he can sit quite happily and tell families to cut their weekly shopping bills but he isn't in this situation so doesn't know what it's really like. Personally, I believe he should put himself in this situation before issuing insensitive comments as such.
Normally I avoid rants, but even in anger you still speak the honest truth. I don't know whether you'd take this as a complement or insult, but I mean well. JAZZA FOR PRIME MINSTER!
I think even though it's obvious we live in a throw away society and people don't see it that way - everything's extendible. By telling us again it brings it to the forefront and we're less likely to do so - it's not cheeky. (When someone suffocates you tell them to breath to remind them, 'cos they forget!)
I agree with what you're saying at the end though - few MPs have lived in the real world and therefore shouldn't rule the real world...
On the other hand, you can't let the mob rule the world. This may sound rude. You can either let the ones that live in the so-called "real world" rule or those who have (more or less) the competence and expertise to do so. Most of the time those two things don't come combined. There may be some exceptions.
Hopefully you got my point, I had troubles wording it.
This is very good, though unplanned. You seem very interested in politics = good thing. I like your videos, though I'm not really informed with British politics.
I do agree with you, but on the other hand: Brown has to say at least something. He doesn't have that much power to lower food prices significantly in my opinion. The G8 leaders will come together to realise they can't do very much against oil and food prices - but they can't say that in public because then the meeting would be useless
and I totally agree with you, I can't believe he actually made a statement about it it's crazy! I also like the point you made about restaurants etc throwing away food, I've worked in various restaurants and it always amazes me how much they throw away.
I hope you go into journalism cause this country need the voices of us younger people because we see the world for what it is with less bias. I really admire you speaking for your beliefs and putting your point across admirably. Even though this video is unscripted I still think it is brilliant to see someone so enthusiastic about politics.
The ones who will be affected will be doing this already.
Also, for people to cut down costs, people will need to go food shopping every day due to sell by dates and stuff, which is kind of counter-active aswell becuase this way more will be spent on travelling to the supermarkets.
Gordon Brown is generally stupid.
Also i think it is time we had a good looking primeminister, it would get people way more into politics if our PM is nice to look at.
you going to do a rant about viacom stealing all our personal info and how stupid it is that an american court can choose to release the info of people world wide?
I actually really liked the parts that you appologize for, the rant, the disorder and mostly the passion! I look forward, in a few years, to see you stir up your politics and kick some ass!!! We need more like you!!
i think it makes sense not to plan out some videos. it allows you to express yourself completely and show your emotions more. this is probably how all my videos would be if i were to vlog, lol. except i'd be ripping my hair out, etc.
What a great leader you have "OK everyone stop eating!" it saves money, stops obesity, and in the long run will allow more people to fit on public transport. Brilliant!
Gordon Brown and all other politicians should start off by lecturing thenmselves: they have 10-course meals while the pensioner is struggling to find a cheaper can of tuna. The hypocrisy is killing me!
I liked your point about how the PM should address restaurants and supermarkets. I'm very pessimistic about this whole credit crunch thing - it's happening here in Spain too.
Excellent video, though, as always. Keep them coming!
When you told me that's what Gordon Brown said I was absolutely gobsmacked. Can't believe that's his big plan: for families to do what they've always done.
Anyway, great vid. Don't apologise. Love the ranty and unscripted stuff.
do not apologize for this video i much rather you rant and share your opinions the plan and script them i think your true piece of mind comes out when you rant and go on rather then when you go over your script and plan ur video but i dnt mind the other way eitha both ways arefantastic
I saw this on the news and it just makes me wonder how far up their own arses these wealth-born politicians are. In a generation of TV Gordan Brown doesn't fit the bill. Which is annoying because i really think conservatives are going to win the election. Which won't lead to good things. =]
I'm really digging this "Jazza uncut" I am seeing. I know you probably love a plan, but I feel that opinions are usually expressed better when they are said as they should be: candidly. I, unfortunately, understand very little of British politics, but I do understand the effect on food prices, and how little help it would be for Brown to address this. I am going to study a bit over British politics, just because I have no idea what you are standing for as anti-labour party. Keep the vlogging up
Jazza, Brown was just talking out of his ass... it was just as meaningless and useless as everything else that comes out of there. I think the thing that needs to happen is a western-world-wide effort to develop and implement oil-free, renewable energy for transportation and eventually everything else. As long as the developed world is held hostage by those who pump oil, we will continue to pay and pay and pay. Oil, its all about oil.
The ranting style is quite good. Everyone needs to let off that steam once in a while. Maybe you could do a sort of hybrid, a short scripted bit where you get your points across, then a little ranting too. I'd quite enjoy that.
I have one question, because I'm in America, and I don't follow British politics as closely as you do. If Labour loses the Glasgow election, which party is likely to replace them as the majority?
lol I'm supposed to move to England next year for uni, now you're making me a bit worried about doing it, but then again the politicians in canada aren't much better either.....
I'm not from the UK or anything but that kinda pisses me off just hearing about it. You think of all the important things he should be changing and all he comes up with is...you guys should stop wasting food?? He blames it on the people he's representing? Also giving obvious advice doesn't make it any better.
To be honest I'm shocked with our government and also the mass media.
Why haven't the BBC mentioned that George Bush has signed a treaty to keep permanent Military Bases in Iraq.
And all we get told is about trying not to waste so much food.
Great.
On and Obama isn't going to do anything for the world , in my opinion. We'll see what he votes for next week on the 'extension' of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
Oh, its so obvious now. I simply must stop throwing away day old fillet mignon and bulga caviar. Thank you for showing me the error of my ways Mr. Brown.
this story ot on my nerves too i agree with your point that mp's are out of touch and i think this is one of the reasons no body particularly likes politicians
Perhaps we should stop paying politicians so much money and pay them the average family income instead. That way, their lifestyles would be closer to the 'average family' as well, they would have an incentive to help the economy, since their pay would be tied directly to the economy...
I've thought of that idea as well, but I would take it a step farther, because, in America, anyway, many politicians are already quite wealthy, so I would also freeze their assets, thus forcing them to live on an average income during the time they are in office. I bet if we did that, we'd not only get more conscientious politicians, but also more regular people running for office, as fewer of the wealthy will want to do it.
Also if that happened only the people who REALLY wanted to be politicians and make a diference would even consider the job, aside from those on a money and power trip.
I think that the PM's speech that he made regarding food costs and conserving food was totally warranted. While to someone like you this speech may come off as patronizing, I think there are many others who may not have even thought about his "brilliant idea" (hahaha) as an option. I think him presenting it as to the other countries, though, is a bit absurd and that's a lot more where your point of him needing to focus on the bigger picture is more relevant. I think you do have a point but I
I am pretty sure the majority of the population know that if their money isn't getting them as much they need to cut back on things like food. People who havn't 'thought' of this are in a huge minority, and to say they are not is quite frankly underestimating the british public.
The cheek that he seems to be passing the buck onto us is not warranted in the slightest. Granted this credit crunch isn't his fault, but HE isn't doing wonders for solving it either.
Hi Jazza! You love Gordon don't you! LOL F Gordon, Credit Crunch? I should send my left overs to him.
I love your rants. Oh and I think its great when people apoligise before speaking.
Oh and if people want to save money with food, goto Aldi Lidi or ASDA or simply Iceland. Oh and if its about left over musy peas then urrgghhhhhh! I hate Gordon too.
Love your video. I was a big Republican and now I am all for Obama because he is different and has already made HUGE changes in the way the presidental election happens.
Meh. It's Gordon Brown. What do you expect? Good leadership? Well-structured politics? No, just give him a Tickle-Me Elmo, that should keep him busy for a while.
I expect his next speach to sound like: "You know, thoese people in third world countries wouldn't be starving if they went out and got some food and then ate the food."
@SpookySio you think that politicians can connect with people? :S

On the other hand, you can't let the mob rule the world. This may sound rude. You can either let the ones that live in the so-called "real world" rule or those who have (more or less) the competence and expertise to do so. Most of the time those two things don't come combined. There may be some exceptions.
Hopefully you got my point, I had troubles wording it.
thesummer06 3 years ago
This is very good, though unplanned. You seem very interested in politics = good thing. I like your videos, though I'm not really informed with British politics.
I do agree with you, but on the other hand: Brown has to say at least something. He doesn't have that much power to lower food prices significantly in my opinion. The G8 leaders will come together to realise they can't do very much against oil and food prices - but they can't say that in public because then the meeting would be useless

Not boring at all, quite entertaining!..
and I totally agree with you, I can't believe he actually made a statement about it it's crazy!

I had a 6 hour car journey with listening to that news report every half hour.
it got me worked up.
rhymingwithoranges 3 years ago
Yeah, i agree.
Nice video, Jazza.

i like unscripted jazza. its very conversational. not that your scripted stuff isnt, but this is even more... raw, i suppose?
p.s. gordon brown, wtf? i'm absolutely flabbbergasted that his advisors would even allow him to put that out as an official statement.
xmeevizzlex 3 years ago

Keep the vlogging up
auburnlights 3 years ago
To clarify: To address food prices in the way he did
auburnlights 3 years ago
Jazza, Brown was just talking out of his ass... it was just as meaningless and useless as everything else that comes out of there. I think the thing that needs to happen is a western-world-wide effort to develop and implement oil-free, renewable energy for transportation and eventually everything else. As long as the developed world is held hostage by those who pump oil, we will continue to pay and pay and pay. Oil, its all about oil.
Don't apologize... you were passionate.

Cadwaladr 3 years ago
The scotish national party are second seat, who back scottish independence.

I'm not from the UK or anything but that kinda pisses me off just hearing about it. Also giving obvious advice doesn't make it any better.

I agree,
To be honest I'm shocked with our government and also the mass media.
To see if we have any freedom left at all.

rhymingwithoranges 3 years ago
Perhaps we should stop paying politicians so much money and pay them the average family income instead. That way, their lifestyles would be closer to the 'average family' as well, they would have an incentive to help the economy, since their pay would be tied directly to the economy...
moangui 3 years ago
I've thought of that idea as well, but I would take it a step farther, because, in America, anyway, many politicians are already quite wealthy, so I would also freeze their assets, thus forcing them to live on an average income during the time they are in office. I bet if we did that, we'd not only get more conscientious politicians, but also more regular people running for office, as fewer of the wealthy will want to do it.
Cadwaladr 3 years ago 2
I love this idea. Plus, make their children serve in the military.
ehvee1 3 years ago 3
Excellent! Reminds me of a bumper sticker an acquaintance of mine has, which says, "Draft Young Republicans"
Cadwaladr 3 years ago
Also if that happened only the people who REALLY wanted to be politicians and make a diference would even consider the job, aside from those on a money and power trip.

I think that the PM's speech that he made regarding food costs and conserving food was totally warranted. While to someone like you this speech may come off as patronizing, I think there are many others who may not have even thought about his "brilliant idea" (hahaha) as an option. I think him presenting it as to the other countries, though, is a bit absurd and that's a lot more where your point of him needing to focus on the bigger picture is more relevant. I think you do have a point but I

djahren 3 years ago
I disagree.
Granted this credit crunch isn't his fault, but HE isn't doing wonders for solving it either.
rhymingwithoranges 3 years ago
Hi Jazza! You love Gordon don't you! LOL F Gordon, Credit Crunch? I should send my left overs to him.
I love your rants. Oh and I think its great when people apoligise before speaking.

We have the worst fucking world leaders ever.
