Actually that was a male Heterometrus longimanus, which is not likely to be deadly unless you get an allergic reaction to the venom. The males of this species have sexual dimorphism which make them look extremely lanky in comparison to the female, but they are indeed Scorpionids whihc should not be mistaken for a bark scorpion of the family buthidae.
did he realy get in a knife fight with that scorpion?
