@christoferL I agree with your point about voting based on policy rather than shared religious views, but isn't that inconsistent with what you said about Mitt Romney? I detest him, but even though I quite frankly think Mormonism is a silly scam I would vote for him if he upheld my values (he doesn't nor does he have any other than power) regardless of what I think about his religious views.
@redcommander27 Mormonism is a special case to me - as it is so absurd it leaves me thinking those following it must be insane - thus killing any desire to support MItt... but he doesn't represent enough of my values either.
A skeptic could argue that about any religious points of view, but from a non-believer in Mormonism's perspective, I'd have to agree with the late great Christopher Hitchens when he put Mormonism in the same category as S($)cientology: both are obvious scams as he pointed out, and both have doctrines that are deeply silly even from a point of view that all religious notions are false and absurd, though I consider $cientology much more unethical and harmful than Mormonism
politics is like getting your car fixed, brakes for the brake guy, engines for the engine guy, alignment for the alignment guy ... it's your problem it's your H.S. lead personal choice ... that's why there's a curtain on the voting booth. those made alive by the Blood of Jesus are privileged to follow Him into Baptism, they're Sons of God one w/ Him after that. marriage in all its forms is not the covenant of Holy Matrimony and never will be.. I know you know that ... have a happy Jesus day.
Nothing wrong with supporting Ron Paul - he's a strong Christian man himself, and his life speaks volumes about his beliefs. He's gone on camera before professing Jesus. And IMO, hes more of a Christian than Rick Perry could ever hope to be. Just because someone is against same-sex marriage and abortion does not make them a Christian. Its only been made that way so these guys can call themselves "Christians" and win the evangelical vote.
Great points Chris ! Rick Perry was electable to many before he opened his mouth. I agree Ron Paul is the only viable candidate to start the desperate change this country needs. This election has to be one of the most important in American history.

Yeah, I'd vote for Ron Paul too. But I can't vote in the primary in my state because I'm an Independent, not a Republican.
