  • worked for me , i baked 10 minutes... but i was not so surprised because i baked 2 video cards before and both worked

  • baking as we speak now.

    E73 error in mine :D

  • what causes an xbox 360 to blink two lights, i do believe the 1 and 3 light is blinking, after i have done the xclamp fix, any help would be nice

  • @Wicky1277

    1 light = GPU problem

    2 lights = overheating

3 lights = CPU and GPU problem

  • To my surprise, I just took mine out of the oven and it worked! Thank you for this excellent tut and the wad of money I just saved :)

  • @schulz15 How many layers off tin foil do you use?

  • It fixed my e73 error =)

    For all the europeans 250° = 100°C !!

  • OMFG, this is an static nightmare

  • dude that shit is insane what the hell? baking an x-box?

  • @Punisher33100

Yeah, it may look pretty insane. Frankly, I was skeptical about this way of fixing my Xbox but gave it a shot and was not disappointed, for the fix was successful in my case.

  • I just want to reflow the ana/hana can i do this and leave the heatsinks on ?

  • @pspmad1

No, you need to remove the heatsinks before putting in the oven.

  • Superb video, the comment below says 250 F.. surely 250 C ? many thanks

  • Hey my little brother did something and now all my Harddrive memory is gone. ant advice

  • Update: The xbox worked like a charm for 3 months. After that I met my old friend E74. This is a temporarily fix. I will bake it again though

  • is he having a pee?

  • Comment removed

  • works fine :) remember 250 F = 121 C and 170 F = 76 C. Thanks for tutorial ;)

  • hey will it work for RROD 0110 !!?????

  • Thanks for this video. Worked like a charm!

  • thnxxxx but i did it whit a hairdryer for 20 min then paste screws and wala

  • thank you

  • dud you fucking cool

  • Update: It has been about 2 months. My Xbox 360 works like a charm. BF3 runs great. No more E74 or RROD bullshit that I have to deal with. Hats off to you. Thanks for uploading this vid.

  • the heatsink u said was the first one out wrong

  • You and one other guy helped me fix my xbox. You are amazing and I love you.

    Platonically.

  • i have'nt tried it yet but i have a few questions: do i remove thermal paste first(if so what should i use to take it off)?, after this (if i used the penny trick) should i put the pennies back on? what should i look for in the hardware store to replace x-claps (specs of screws and washers if u know) thank you for the vid. i cant wait to get this done. :)

  • @schuls15 Hey man, just wanted to personally thank you for this amazing fix. I had an E74 error on my Xbox 360 and the heat gun trick did not work for me unfortunately. I was about to give up when I clicked on your vid. Just like you mentioned, I left the ANA/HANA chip exposed. 2 hours later I had my Xbox working like brand new. Thanks a lot. You saved me a lot of money. Question: How long did this fix last for you? 3 months? 6 months? Thanks again.

  • And this just in a what it appears to be that a man was fixing a 360 X-Clamp blew his shit up for heating a 360 in an oven for 2 hoursO.p I would start laughing hella hard lol

  • Is that masking tape used to hold down the tinfoil?

  • I did this then it went from 3 red lights error code 0022, to error code 0002, then to 2 red lights (Which is caused by over heating) Any ideas?

  • @LakeviewSoccerNum20

Same thing happened to me as well. It turns out the heatsinks were not sitting properly on the gpu and cpu. So, basically just screw your screws tighter but not too tight and it will work with no problem.

  • this looks so safe

  • What's going to happen is some little kid is going to watch this and put it in his or her parents oven and not do it right.. have toxic fumes and/or a fire... who gets blamed if this happens.. YOU?.. seriously you need to think about the age range of youtube.. mostly kids come on man think first your in your 30's or older dont you know better?

  • @carguy05vids Really? You're blaming him for a hypothetical situation involving bad parenting that he, in no conceivable way, can be held accountable for?

  • Can you demonstrate how you put the 360 on the tin foil?

  • Can i use alliminium foil?

  • you posted this on my channel; While I appreciate the insights of your demonstration, I would respectfully recommend that about 70% less condescension might afford you significantly greater credibility. The failure of the x-clamp design (and, yes, it is the core failure in this design) could have been fixed by simply applying the same technique that's been used in PC motherboards for close to three decades - simple standoffs between the case and the motherboard.

  • what size are the screws and stuff? I have a lowes and several hardware stores around. I was just bending the a little making them pull down harder but the screws and washers make more sense.. and im not buying the kits online cause its just little screws and washers you can by at a hardware store.

  • @Fhallenone Do not follow this man’s advice! He is an Xbox murderer! He gets his rocks off teaching kids how to permanently damage their game systems if your Xbox should accidentally survive you will have succeeded in removing all possibility of a lasting repair 100% Guaranteed go to my channel to learn the truth! I have extensive actual electronics background unlike (“This Jackass!”)

  • @schuls15 is this an alternative for the towel trick? i have heard the towel trick tends to dammage parts of the xbox that are completely unrelated to the problem (dvd drive). And if not, do you recommend trying the towel trick before trying this? I asked microsoft how much it would be to repair, they said 100 bucks and i can buy a new xbox for that so i figure "what the hell have i got to loose lol"

  • lol i am gone install a ac for my xbox

  • ever heard of component color problems? my "Pr" or red cable is completely dead. put a multi-meter on it and theres no current at all going to it. composite works fine but sucks on a 60" plasma. tried another cable. all connections are in the right spot, even tried in the wrong spot. switch is on 'hdtv' & everything. if anyone reads this & has fixed please lemme know. cant find shit on line, hopefully this is my problem and i will betty crocker that mother fucker.

  • The trick worked for me :-) Thank you!

  • dude that shit didnt work false advertisement

  • IMPORTANT NOTICE!!!!

In a mad rush to fix my Xbox and play my newly arrived game.... I did not think about the fact that americans use degrees farenheit not degrees celcius like in the UK :|

You can imagine what happened after 15 mins at 250 degrees C :P

Possibly the silliest thing I've ever done in my life! However I'm fairly confident that this would have worked since I used to have to just overheat my Xbox on a weekly basis to try and re-solder the flexed joints.

  • @leehousemusic HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • is someone taking the longest pee in this video

  • It worked for me, im doing a second one right now hope this one works too :)

  • it didnt workkk :(

  • does this repair the 0110 / 0102 error

    Please respond ...

I tried many methods that didn't work

I'm getting desperate to have my xbox work

    and here where I live

no one knows how to reboil :/

Hope this method works for me and for those who is going to try it :)

    wish me luck :P

    thanks

  • so I did everything you said and it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

actualy something bloved up near ram and ram and it blev ram off too an I get error code 0001. help please?

  • Just making sure, all the temperatures in the video are in Fahrenheit right? I've seen other guides that tell you to bake at 350F for 15 mins.

  • This worked for me. Thanks for the video

  • I wish it worked. The games used to freeze up so i baked it as instructed. Now it freezes on the swirling part of the loading screen. Any comments on why this happens (aside from me being stupid)?

  • Its easier if you wrap your xbox in a blanket, cover all the fans and leave it on for like 2 hours, it will work fine after its cooled.

  • @jaysonbarton you are a dumbass, this "if it works" is only a temporary fix and high potential for damaging other components. DON'T LISTEN TO jaysonbarton......

  • @MajNightmare You are a cunt, mine works fine, and has done for years

  • ******IT WORKED FOR ME TOO!!***** REAL USER YOU CAN MESSAGE ME I DID THIS SHIT AND IT REALLY DOES WORK. NO BS. PRICELESS VIDEO.

  • This does fix it to an extent. If you can, get hold of some leaded solder.... coat the joints with it, and then oven it.

  • do u bake cookies with them

  • cap popped about an hour in man. how many layers of foil did u put? But tested a rrod xbox after the cap popped and it started to work like new again. :)

  • well i am glad to say that this actually worked for me. im very very thankful to you and to all youtubers that upload videos to help people. again, i am very thankful for this video

    thanks man ,

you saved me alot of money

  • by the way, im doing the exact same thing he is doing.

  • im on the process of doing this, i let you know what happens..

  • You seem to know your shit man. Can you add a working spiked ball and chain to my xbawks so that everytime my friend TK's me, it whacks him upside the head?

  • Ok so do you rebake it after you put the heat syncs back on or do you just leave the xbox on for a little while? Also, do you spread the paste on the chips or just put it on/ do you clean the paste off the bottom of the heat syncs before putting them back on?

  • will this work with e 73 one red light??? whats causes this error? all im finding is the tootpick method which lasts a day? does it have anything to do with my xbox being modded?

  • OMFG IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!! i was skeptical the WHOLE time, coming up with all sorts of "Wouldn't it....?" in my head as i was going along... but it worked... all i had was audio and no video, this fixed it!!! WOOHOO TY SO MUCH MAN!!

  • @xe0nite you know, it took me a couple weeks to get this to turn out a 70% + outcome. im still working on methods that dont require people to outsource or have to resort to reflowing with a heat gun(wich is very unreliable and bad for the xbox) or buying expensive equipment.

  • @schuls15 ya, and if you think about how many people do this fix and do NOT come back and thank you, you can multiply the thanks you get by at least 5, so it IS very much appreciated!

and on a side note, i had #8-32 x 1/2 screws, they needed to be #10, so i had to put the cross braces back on (but i added a single washer to each point on them) and it still worked just fine. If i have any more problems i'll probably start wit replacing those cross braces.

  • Quick Note: (for my xbox at least) the screws needed to be #10-32 x 1/2, NOT #8 (like in your reply to the second guy down), i went out and bought some #8-32 x 1/2 screws and the diameter is too small, needs to be #10, the threads are correct though

  • @xe0nite Thanks for pointing this out. i did make a boo boo on that post. it is indeed a # 10. same for washers.

  • Hi mate do you use flux with this fix

  • OH MY FUCKING GOD this really works!!!!!!!! i cant believe it,my jaw hit the floor when i saw green

  • i'm completely baffled at this, at 250*f lead free solder doesn't even get weak...so what gives? is your oven in C?

  • I did mine for 9 minutes at 500 degrees farenheit, I insulated the outer edges (resistors, transistors etc.) with a towel and left the center exposed minus the heat syncs. reapplied thermal paste. did the penny trick, and voila. it worked

  • I did this.

but when I turn it on, it gives me two rings then shuts off?

    any ideas?

    is this normal?

  • well the xbox is freezing up again. It actually really weird cuz the screen just goes black, no red lights. Oh well. I may bake it again or throw it in the trash. it was good while it lasted. prob about 25 hours total game time after the bake. better then nothing.

  • @smmuck most likely there was an underlined problem like a cold solder joint. im willing to bet the code is 0110 which is very common. most likely a problem under the gpu (weird) that bitch gets hot as hell, 70+C under normal gaming.

  • @smmuck

dude this fix is just the bigining of it and just a part of fix ur box !

after getting working u need to improve the cooling system on even if you have keep it open and throuw some more fans on it !

  • @denverbronco27

I dont know about your particular error but the video says it fixes e74 so i imagine it would work. My error was like 1001 or 0110 or something I cant remember but it fixed that. I did the xclam fix and overheated the xbox by unpluggiin the fan etc... (you know the regular BS to fix the xbox). Each time it would work but only for like 20 min the rrod again. This oven method has proven to fix my box for over 20 hours of game play. So glad I did this crazy ass tutorial.

  • Just wanted to post back. I have used the xbox for a solid 20 hours since performing this fix. I cannot believe it!!!! I have not had a single bug, no freeze, no red lights, NOTHING! Its works great. WOW!! and to think I tired to sell this thing on ebay for 10 bucks!! Glad it didnt sell because Im rocking out with an oven baked 360!! hahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaa

  • @smmuck BEES f***ing knees huh!!!

  • Its still hard to believe this works, but hey obviously it does, you have to admit though... a title "how to bake your xbox the SAFE way" is still kinda a@@ backwards lol.

  • Will this repair e74 secondary 1022?

  • well baked the board using the exact specs in this video. I reassembled the xbox and it kicked on and ran for a solid 30mins then I had to leave for work. Hahaha dont know how long it will last but it did work. If it dies in the next few days I will post back.

  • Doesn't lead free solder melt at 217 degrees C (422.6 F) ? Not sure how this would work if its not brought up to the melting point. Im going to try this method and if dosent work ill try the higher temp oven methods. I will report back.

  • awesome tutorial man!

  • You should be on the food network, that looks good!

  • Had the stubborn E74. After the X-clamp fix (which worked for a week) it came back. Now it is fixed with this slow baking method. Slow is better. Thank you!

  • if anyone should have questions Email me at Rally.buggy@gmail.com

  • Oh, and how long are them screws? I assume it's an M5 thread but how long is the screw itself?

  • The screws i use i get from home depot. #8-32x1/2". and the washer stackup is one nylon waser under a steel washer of the same type also purchase from home depot. nylon is a #10 4.8 Flat Washer. and the steel im not sure what the spec is but is is damn near the same size and thickness as the nylon. if you do a little searching you may beable to find a spec for the steel washer. the stackup is extremely imp because if you dont have the heat sync sitting level it may contact the resistors below it

  • @schuls15 Cheers! I thought the GPU screws were shorter than the CPU ones? The washer stackup should be fine as I have found the correct height and I have a micrometer so thats all good.

  • i use the same short screws for both. makes things easier esp as there ar 4 diff types of heat syncs used in diff combinations.

  • @schuls15 That's perfect then! Just they look different sized in the video o_O! Anyway, thanks for all the help! I exclusively use a PC myself and am fixing an XBox for a friend. I am always building PCs and run a hardware review site so fortunately I have all the thermal paste and alcohol to hand!

  • i had some left over # 10 32x 1/2 left over. so yes those in the vid were slightly longer.

  • @schuls15 correction, i meant to post # 10 32x1/2. those are the screws. sorry for the mixup.

  • I assume you are doing this in Fahrenheit? So I should be doing about 120 Celsius for 15 mins and then about 80 Celsius for 2 hours? Are you sure that's hot enough?

  • Tried & it didn't work. I followed the temp and time too. It might be because I'm at a higher altitude I'm assuming. I also tried the temps 275 ~30 minutes and then 200 for ~60 minutes, and yet no luck. It made by board straight though. I'll try 280 for 20 and then 200 for 2 hours if I can't get it to work.

  • I would not go any higher in temp without beefing up the insulation, you may blow a capacitor or resistor. There may be a more severe underlined problem. What is your secondary error code? To get the secondary code, hold the sync button and press the eject button. 4 presses, each press will display a number in light segments, that is the code. 4 lights is a 0. let me know and we will get you the best fix to combat your RROD.

  • @schuls15 1-4-2-1 (1021), e73 error. Turns out its a colder solder joint from the southbridge/ethernet plugin. So I did a custom tape job for this, still exposed the graphics card and cpu etc, but didn't cover up the ethernet part (i did cover the metal etc). So we'll see how this works. I will be using your temps considering that you said any higher could blow a capacitor. I will tell you how it goes, I hope that it works :)

  • I don't have problems with my xbox I just got linked to this. I agree with the guy below you really are fucking genius :D
