Let's say that I was blown away. Easily best song in these Play! songs. Can't wait for Guild Wars 2 and what Jeremy Soule has to offer. He's a genius.
view my five years as a guild wars player to hear this, this music is precisely these fragments, each of the opening of the game, tell it all, they are all afternoon in the fires of the old and devastated Ascalon, invading forge and visiting Rago, evenings spent around the Kurzick forests, venturing into the torment, fighting the great destroyer:)
who has been playing all this time and has lived all changes from the advent will understand me:) i love this !
@AnyaSilva I remember getting prophecies the first week it came out, traveling through Ascalon with bros, questan, missionan, killan .... tear.. at least I can relive that through GW2, hopefully.
It's called glissando, and Factions' intro just starts with that technique. I think you should try to be more careful when expressing yourself, as this isn't the easiest part to play and this violinist does it quite perfectly. If you don't like it, you should say just that.
I can can express myself however I want and I shouldn't have someone as anal as you seem to be, breathing down my neck.
When you compare the original solo and this solo (and you can find the original piece on youtube) you can understand why I said "a little".
He had a problem hitting the higher notes, that all. Nowhere did I say that I didn't like it at all. All I did was point out that one high note. Dammit people, I see no reason to flame me for this.

Hmm...I think I like the original versions of these songs much better. These ones are just less epic and generally suck. Plus it sounds like a marching band is playing the Nightfall and GWEN themes rather than an actual orchestra. Sucks. Way to trash my memories of these songs.
I wouldn't be so harsh, the Play versions I do agree aren't as good as the originals, but they don't "trash my memories of these songs".
The Play versions are great, but I just dislike the use of instruments at some times, like how in the Oblivion soundtrack they went crazy with all the choral stuff.
Just love the Nightfall one. Epic.

What the hell happened to the EotN track?

Performing a videogame symphony, and not bringing up anything from Jeremy Soule would be madness!
And not including Guild War's soundtrack specifically would be blasphemy!
The original tracks sound way better than this, though. I got them all! Totally worth the cash!

whoa what happened with eye of the north? It's way down tempo, and too much percussion.

@sunset261 yeah, like a college football marching band sort of influence

@sunset261 Think it was because it was the last of the songs, they already set a tempo with those, and didnt want to change it.

Eye of the North part stretched on a bit long.

in GWEN they played the notes with to much marcato. It Should have been a lengthy marcato. Also need a louder baritone sound on the original GW theme
In the factions theme I remember a lot more percussion. It could have been where hey were performing it could have drowned up some of the percussion.
in nightfall theme it was clear as ever. drumset=bad.
I like the original one. I could say more but not enough space. lol
I still like it but the arrangement's is not the best.
