I use Camtasia Studio 6 for my tutorials. It's not free but it's the best screen capture software I have ever used. See one of my recent videos called "How to screen capture" for details.
The Flips are ok, not great..I doubt they will work with keying well.
MiniDV camcorders all have a firewire connection with them so you can simply plug into the firewire port on your computer and stream the media down onto your computer.
You should not need any external card for this....unless you don't have a firewire port...In that case you will want to buy a Firewire expansion card for your laptop or desktop computer.
The HC32 is ok..but theres better cams out for the same price these days.
I dont know of many cams that capture HD in the $200 price range....that may be asking quite a bit.
Check out Mark Apsolon's new forum...if you find him on YouTube he should have a link to his website and forum in his YouTube profile.
There is a section on his forum to ask about cams and what to buy. If you can't find that send me a message though email and I'll send you a direct link.
Premiere has always been a little picky when it came to different files to import. Usually AVI is the safe standard and has always imported for me....if it's giving you trouble, you may not have a codec for the program. I believe you can get these at the Adobe website.
Thanks. I actually used Camtasia Studio 6 instead of CamStudio due to a better quality capture. The program wasn't free but it does a nice job. I also found it easier to import the file from Camtasia into Sony Vegas.
I have one Question.. wanna know is it same with PORTABLE version.?
MYITIZM 11 months ago
@MYITIZM No idea, I wasn't aware Adobe event made a portable version of this application....but I'm assuming it does the same.

@SonicOrbStudios Okay Thanks.. Btw Love your vidS!

@MYITIZM I think portables are just hacked versions. But it's worth it when you have premiere.

Thanks for taking the time to view my videos.
I use a Sony DCR-HC32, looking to upgrade that soon though...
It links directly to my desktop using an "iLink" firewire cable to send the data off the tape.
I am going to send you a message with a URL to my buddy's forum which will help a lot when picking a camera., (cant post URLs in the comments...)

Thanks for the email. The MiniDV Handy Camera looks alright and inexpensive. I can go for that. What about capture card or fire wire card?
