I say the same every Texas summer! LOL I cannot handle the hot sun, I'm heat sensitive and very pale complected. My mom's side is Russian. I was shocked when I saw it was as hot there now as it is here. It's a first for them in the 150 yrs since they have been keeping track of the temps. And many of them do not have a/c like we do.

Chicago - I visited Suzdal on Christmas day, 2005. Very beautiful, charming town, like a fairy tale. And the medovuha (sweet beer) was very tasty.

This ethereal video made me weep by its sacred beauty! If only I live in such pristine and sanctified purity of winter. My father said this reminded him of when he was on his grandparents' farm in the winter and 'twas so peaceful. Please make another videos of Winter in Russia! Russia seems so magical when it is draped in pure untouched snow. The people are holy because the snow is not defiled with dirt like in other countries.

The Russian Orthodox Church follows the so-called Julian calendar. They also celebrate Christmas on December 25th, but that December 25th is according to the Julian calendar. The thing is that, when it is December 25th in the Julian calendar, it is January 7th in the Gregorian one, which Russians use for civil life as in Western countries. I hope this can help.
