  • nice NIN

  • cool stuff, gread work

  • From then on it was a Trent-a-thon

  • i demand to know why i got a boner watching this

  • Best part, hands down is when we see a man pulling some levers in time with the beat. Then at 2:07, the guy with the brazing goggles on looks just like Trent back in the PHM or Broken days.

    Awesome work.

  • Trent's Music is more industrial than America and less polluted than China.

  • interesting :)

  • NIN in a class of its own.trent is the genuis that takes indsterialto levels beyound measurements......

  • excellent

  • Nicely done. I love how the ghosts tracks let you interpret whatever you will from them. For some reason this one makes me feel unaccomplished tho. Still a great song.

  • good vid!!! WD oppenheimer2006. I think that you have really embraced the spirit of the competition by using Public domain video.

  • LOVE IT!

  • a la chaine... . the perfect fit, word!

  • thx! =)

  • I like your video

  • Oh Hell Yes, Bravo! Excellent work oppenheimer2006. I think it is a perfect fit and rtyhm. Not to mention the visual, I see, when America was great. But I am alas an older gent. This work means alot to me.. I can understand a few gens younger, could find it boring;))) Nah, no way! You will see this in my fav's. Great entry, Best to you!

  • I like your take on this track. I did a vid for it too, in a completely different direction, but I think it really fits both visions.

  • sorry but this does not go well with the song, and is quite boring as well

  • I think it fits perfectly.

  • very well constructed

  • when I watch this it gives me the chills, it really is the best of all vids

  • This is the best non-mega money video i have seen so far. i love it. you deserve a standing ovation for this. and i hope you get a NIN plug for this by TR himself.

  • out of all the videos I've seen for this song, i like yours the best. :) amazing job.

  • good work. but i think its not enough dynamic in comparison to music

  • that reminds me, i shound go to work!

  • The guy in 2:56 looks like something out of a NIN produced video. Awesome job on the footage.

  • thanks alot.. to all of you!

  • excellent

  • recognize some pittsburgh scenes there....

  • It doesn't really fit but it's fucking awesome!! I like it

  • what a sexy song!! TrEnT rEzNor your to good.

  • i enjoyed this video a lot. there was no real point to it, but it was fun!

  • I like this one. Some of those guys are freaky looking with their goggles. Violins was cool. Didnt see where the ballet fit in much.

It would be better if the music went along with the visuals. Like maybe you can speed things up or slow them down to make it go along with the beat better... i dunno how u go about doing that but thats why I dont make a vid cus I have no idea how to do this kind of stuff..

    makes me want to learn

  • There are 100 of these same kind of stock footage vids. Why bother?

  • *lawl* ..

if you don't have footage of your own you're kinda framed. and even more, when it says 'no slideshows'..

what are the options? pls tell me.

  • Come up with something better, or shoot your own. Thanks for asking. Hope that helps!

  • pls define 'something better', i already exluded own footage, so be kind and tell me the options. btw.. have you already uploaded anything, yet?

  • animate

  • good point.. i'll think about that =)

  • I totally DUG this. Rockin' work.

  • I love the Violin part

  • Didn't Trent specifically say "no copyrighted footage?"

  • public domain is open to use for everyone

  • I dig

  • Great message, you are very good keep it up, makes good sense to me

  • like industrial imagery but does not stay linked with music and since the systematic flow of factories is the setting i think if it had been edited to sync with the sounds it would have been much better...

  • ???

  • nice work

  • Man wow, this video fits this song exactly all the right sounds for all the right visuals. Very very good :D

  • g e n i a l

  • I like it a lot! Good job.

  • Jesus, I pity Reznor, Who's gonna have to sit through hours of trash like this.

  • lol. I agree

  • well, while I don't find this the most entertaining video at least this person is participating. I respect them for at least trying to be creative and make a video for the festival. I would imagine Trent would be delighted in the fact that so many people want to make videos for his songs. So what if this guy isn't Steven Spealburg? He tried a lot harder than the hypocrites who come on and dis videos without having anything better to show for it. Post a video that's better then you can talk.

  • Hi, I enjoyed this video. My only suggestion...maybe incorporate words? Have any done that? I am almost wanting "subtitles" here. Does this make sense? Good work though! Luv this whole project/concept.

    :)

  • I like it. But do you have copyright to this material?

  • haha thats funny.

  • I love the sound of metal, don't you? ;-)

  • No story board...this looks like many of the others.

  • I'm liking this, nice work.

  • Not bad! The visuals feel appropriate.

  • Very good

  • nominated at withteeth, german nin fansite

  • oh! thanks alot, dude =)

  • Genius

  • very imaginative and excelleant synch! wish i could do that!

  • this is totally cool. best vid of the lot that ive seen so far.

  • I like how you have most of the scenes synced almost perfectly to the beat at some points and the synths at others. I really enjoyed this one. Great job.

  • The concept is not new at all, but the idea is well developed in a nice video clip with awesome old fotages

  • Great vid. Wonder if the songs off the album are influenced by places that Reznor has been to and seen himself? Ghosts of his past?

  • Trent and the band just made the backing tracks and didnt give them names to allow fans to make their own interpritation films up so no! This isnt Trents film its oppenheimer2006 interpritation of Trents backing.

  • Yup. I know. It's kinda cool seeing something as unique as this. But what I mean is are the songs for the landscapes and situations he describes (through the music) in his mind influenced by reality or fantasy? :)

  • Don't you think Trent would want us to decide for ourselves?

  • Yeah. :) Still no matter how many pictures I paint in my own head I'm always gonna wonder what the influence for the song actually was. It's just interesting is all. ;)

  • seems to fit NIN's imagery well. I love the backwards videography and the black and white is great! nice work (a runner up at the very least)

  • lol, "Industrial" music XD Neat stuff.

I guess the word 'ghosts' can be interpreted in many ways--- like in this vid, 'ghosts' meaning the past. All those 20th century innovations and inventions were the ghosts of the evolutionary process.

  • I really love old black and white footage!

Is it ironic the we now have "industrial" music when we lack actual industry?

  • Probably.

  • I really enjoyed your video, it seems that you spent a lot of time and effort doing it. Good job! :)

  • You sound like a robot.

  • You being "caritobea"

  • very well done.

this is the sort of footage that shows how great America is, as opposed to, say, the last 8 years.

  • Really great work! Very creative job of splicing and mixing up the footage, and excellent work giving the video rhythm. My only recommendation is putting it to a shorter song, as I felt it started stronger than it finished.

  • That was awesome! You took alot of time to make that video and it ROCKS! I love the song too, thanks Trenty!!

  • Great really... Soooo Great Dude!!!!!

  • Talk about industrial music heh...

    Good vid!

  • VERY COOL...kept me watching and listeNINg to the very end! GREAT WORK OF ART! (God Bless this union!)

  • Very cool...

i also like the intro and outro screen...

what equipment did you use to make it ?

    Greets TweakerRay

  • oooooh, me likey....

  • so this is the fritz lang version of the show How It's Made, basically? awesome!

  • real good job man. loved the beginning, but i was really hoping the video would take a darker turn. great none the less.

  • Pretty nice.

  • This is kool.

  • I like the vintage black and white feel with machines and industry...but it needs more than that for me. Thanks for posting.

  • what do you mean with 'more'?

maybe i'll go into it again and tweak it a little bit.

    btw..

thanks to all of you for the views & the nice comments!

  • It needs more content...a point... a plot. Some unifying theme that builds up to emotions. It's machines and industry but it looks like free stuff pieced together as best you could...not like it was exactly what you wanted to convey. Hope that makes sense.

  • Like it,I mean that vid it's perfect whit music... it's evocative, for Me. Tnks, I loved it, 5 stars for You.

  • Goes perfectly with the music. I loved the industrial vibe.

  • pretty nice video, but why does everyone is making videos from black/white archive materials?

  • Pretty good, with the mechanical feel to it, too bad you wont be able to take it very far though.

  • Brilliant, man, brilliant! Seems very reminiscent of the type of archival footage seen behind Trent and Co. during live performances. I love the industrialist feel to it all, and got a big smile when the music picks back up and the woman starts typing furiously on the typewriter. Thank you for this!

  • This one is awesome. I like what u did here...and this is similar to what i envisioned....factory work, enterprising, industrialism...

  • Putting the INDUSTRIAL in industrial rock?

  • @FernandoDANTE:

    Synesthesia FTW!

  • @oppenheimer2006 Wow, a reply after 2 years =D

  • @FernandoDANTE

well, i'm not that active kind of yt-user.. i prefer other sites :P

  • I like it, this is one of my favorite tracks. The video seems very original!

  • Not terrible... Not that creative though...

  • Best entry I've seen so far, Very nicely done!

  • Loved it. 5 stars.

  • ETHNIC FLAIR!:)

  • cool

  • That's amazing. Great work!!!

  • great, except for the dancers, I felt they don't fit at all with the rest of the video.

  • Great job. Pictured perfectly.

  • oddly fitting, well done.

  • great video, awesome!
