  • Roger Ebert (the most respected film critic of all) trashed the movie. Richard Roeper named it one of the worst of 07 and called it "One of the most confusing, ridiculous, pretentious and disastrous cinematic train wrecks I've ever seen." It has a 60% rating on IMDB and a 34% rating on rottentomatoes. It debuted at Cannes to the lowest rating a movie has ever gotten there.

I would hardly call J Hoberman (who placed ST over There Will Be Blood and NCFOM in his top 10) is the BEST critic.

  • You would name Ebert and Roeper!

    Ha! What a Joke.

  • They're the most respected film critics in the industry right now, whether you agree with them or not. And I don't some of the time.

But anyway...I offered up why I thought ST was horrible in my vid and I'm interested to hear you counter some of those. If you offer up four good reasons why it was a good movie, I will gladly accept the fact that maybe I just misunderstood it.

  • And I guess that most of the BEST critics all got it wrong... because J. Hoberman(Village Voice), Amy Taubin(Film Comment), Nathan Lee(Village Voice), Mark Olsen(LA Times), and Manohla Dargis(NY Times) all had SOUTHLAND TALES in their Top Ten of 2007 lists.

  • Southland Tales honestly was the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen and if you buy into this pretentious piece of shit, you're an even bigger moron that Richard Kelly.

Yes, I deleted your comment because you're an idiot. Go watch Donnie Darko again and then tell me how you think it compares to Southland Tales.
