You're a credit to humanity, everyone should strive to be as good as you at something, and if that thing happens to be producing beautiful music, and crossing genre borders, breaking down preconceptions, all the better!
Hopefully I'll get somewhere near as good as you with the Bouzouki by the time I'm 90
It's strange hearing lovely mellow notes on a mando, it's always just twang to the max. Again, very well done Sir!
Today i was working in my local music shop, and sold this guy a mandolin, ive never even picked one up nevermind played one, but after i sold it i was inexplicably inspired to play one. Ive played guitar for a little over a year, and now ive been seriously debating all day. You might as well have sold me one X)
NICE, man. I love that you got in those embellishments and had some vibrato too. Ive never heard vibrato done on a mandolin. Keep it up, we like this stuff!
Hey sorry I'm a mandolinist and I'm just trying to figure out.. are the pairs on an octave mandolin unison an octave down, or one high and one low? Does it vary? Thanks. And nice playing as always Jim I always stumble upon your videos.. sometimes when im looking for my own :D
i was recently in violin were me and a friend split the cost of a mandolin after seeing a old vietnamese guy playing and singing in a park, we got back to the hostel and i youtubed for mandolin players to try find some inspiration, i found you. well needless to say i now own that mandolin :P
If You've ever seen the Corr's beautiful rendition of Little Wing... I can picture Jim doing a mandolin solo as he presents here... people's jaws would drop!!--- Thanks Jim, You always got the mandola's and mandolins hummin'
Your new mandolin has such a beautiful sound! I liked this and especially loved "Junk" and "Wish You Were Here". Please, more in that vein? (Would also love to hear you work out some Stevie Ray -- like "Lenny" -- or some Beatles/solo Beatles songs.)
Also, Dad told me you and Gordon Bonham won a contest? Congrats on that. Is there any video of it online (I hope)?
How many fingers does he have?

I would love to learn how to play that on my octave mandolin! It would be really cool if you could possibly tab that intro part out!

Sweet! That octave sounds really great - almost like a 12-string guitar, but still the nice bluegrassy tone of a mando. Awesome playing of course!
