Yeah, the TV show pretty much bit...not because it was "too serious", either, but because it tried to be both "funny" AND "serious" and that never really works.
The comic, which was more along serious lines, came first, everything else tried to capitalize on it and failed...more or less trying to copy the TMNT formula (and failing badly).
This is what happens when Hollywood has no idea what to do with the source material it's handed.
Konami should have done a Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys video game. D:
Also, it ROCKS that they got the COMPLETE original voice cast for this game! X3 I'm such a geek for little things like that.
Lastly, I wonder if Jazz Jackrabbit was inspired by Bucky O'Hare... Though that game was more like Aesop's Fables meets Sonic the Hedgehog. (Seriously. Toad warriors? Why not turtles? :B Though I can't think of many rabbits in this series other than Bucky...)
Man, it's long since I had even played this game or seen the cartoon! I still have the toys floating around my room some where.
I do believe that some of the characters in Bucky O'Hare had cameoed in TMNT because four armed chain smokeing ducks seem to be that popular. Or was it Usagi Yojimbo?

Ah Deadeye Duck, voiced by Scott McNeil before he did Beast Wars. Just imagine if they'd been fighting bugs instead of toads!
Still, love the art style for that series and the game, very cool. Bucky looks like a cross between the Nestle Quik Bunny and Buck Rogers. It's great!

That was Usagi Yojimbo, not Bucky O' Hare, I'm afraid.
