Sorry.. Didn' t work for my jailbroken 5.0.1 either!! I' ve tried everything to fix this damn app and still nothing seems to work. To erase the new ibooks app for those asking below who are experiencing the same prob as me,just go back to iFile.. Find the iBooks file that you altered, select the whole file, delete it and then reboot again! It' s gone!!

@everyone who gets only a crash, OK, I finally got this to work. The trick is you need SBSettings installed. Whatever it installs, will stop the crashing. I'm personally going with the the Xsellize "iBooks fix for ios 5". Rounded icon, sync's with current version of iTunes.

i own an iPad and i used this method and it worked perfectly, i can even sync with itunes. here are the steps

1º uninstall ibooks app

2º cydia.xsellize.com install "ibooks fix for ios 5"

hope it'll work on you, if the new icon appear white just respring your iDevice

IDK about you guys, but i just tried downloading a free book from the iBookstore with this tweak and it worked :P The trick is: Do not delete the rounded non-working icon. Instead use Poof from Cydia to hide that icon. Well, g2g read :P

thanks Jeff for the wonderful guidance. After I had done what you had instructed, I had no problems dragging my ebooks from my desktop to ibook on my iPhone. All i did was to add the ebooks into itunes, and then drag them over to my device. It works seamlessly instead of doing the last few steps as instructed.

To everyone who is wondering why it still crashes, I think this may be because you would have the semi tethered jailbreak, and technically the iBooks is a jailbreak app as you can't delete it, and you can't use jailbreak stuff in a semi tethered state

thanks for the fix but since ios 5, i use the free Kobo app from app store. it has the same page curl effect and can open pdf and epub files. no longer need ibooks. and icloud syncs kobo without issues.
