Im a boxer, but i would love to also kick, any decent kicks i should look into practicing? Just incase, you know, anyone tries something special and i dont wanna just punch
In Muay Thai, Boxing and other Martial Arts staying on the balls of your feet will help with speed and quickness...especially in Muay Thai when your opponent will usually counter right away...BUT..in order to generate power and balance, starting flat footed is definitely what you want to do. When teeping you want to be fast and the fighter will generally start flat footed to generate power but then raise to the toes for the teep. This is a drill to get muscle memory of the teeping movement
@marcroops I've also done Muay Thai for a very long time and have participated in fights, you are 100% right for once somebody on the internet knows about thai you ARE meant to stay on the balls of your feet.. Thank you.
There should also be a balance between fighting with yoru feet flat and also on the balls of your toes, depending on the strike you are enforcing - watch some instructional Muay Thai videos on funkmma website or youtube anad of course talk to your Ajahn or Kru - Funk
when the foot gets red its a sign that he did his job. he trained, he gained knowledge and power. thats what training is about. let him do his thing i think he did well :)
I respect what you guys do I'm studying really hard tryingto learn basics. My ultimate goal is to fight and I'm 29. Just wanted to say good journey in MMA.
@SupremeMaGiiC i seen that to but u can kick with your foot. I train every day in Muay Thai and Sambo *also other arts but just recently picked up pressure point fighting. just to help with ground game* but i check the inner llegs and thighs with my feet. and the redness of his feet are good because there getting stronger and eventually wont even hurt him. Just hurt the other guy. Im training for Chaos In the Cage in California. have a good one.
@SupremeMaGiiC his kicking technique was on point, yes he wasnt hitting with his shin, but way to many people forget that in a fight your opponent is always moving, sometimes you cant hit with the shin, he's circled or backed up and its your foot that connects, the whole leg must be properly conditioned.
@diularsing123 Oh I will - in fact go to funkmma website and in the next few weeks, you will get more MMA technique vids (Muay Thai, Wrestling, BJJ, Boxing)
For those straight kick "being on your toes" won't you get taken down easier guy can just grab your leg and sweep

Would you really want to balance mainly on the balls of your feet? I always thought a firmer base would be with a flat foot on the ground.

funk, is the teep same as the "push kick"?
is it more of a defensive kick or can it be used for attacks. And can the striking area be the heel because that does more damage.
