  • Cute and dear little Calcifer brought me here =]

  • @JennyPrettyAndPink Me too. :) I've wondered about it for years but only just now thought to look it up.

  • I like the cat bit! Cat's are sexy.

  • Whats more welsh then this? xD The story behind this song is fucking darrrk.

  • It's a shame this song isn't about something a little more dignified... such an awesome melody.

  • @tSp289 that's the point though. Take inspiration from the things you see in real life, and you can make amazing music.

  • I can somehow imagine Calcifer singing something like this and Sophie thinking 'How queer! All I can make out is the word 'sausepan' '

No wonder she found it silly! I like this song though...

  • I sang this atthe eisetfoidd last year <33

  • @StarGazerWithDinos Um sorry but do you no the lyrics?? , im just finding it hard to find them ??????

  • @poseygirl1 theyre diffrent to what I sang last year though same song(: hope it helps!. ---> Mae bys Meri Ann wedi brifo A Dafydd y gwas ddim yn iach Mae'r baban yn y cryd yn crio A'r gath wedi sgrammo Jonni fach Sosban fach yn berwi ar y tan Sosban fawr yn berwi ar y llawr A'r gath wedi sgrammo Jonni fach Dai bach y sowldiwr , Dai bach y sowldiwr , Dai bach y sowldiwr , A chwt ei gryse mas.

  • y gân yn dda, im falch i fod yn Gymraeg

  • Calcifer!!! <3

  • Queen Street, isn't it obvious ?

  • @serenhedges I do believe it is Cardiff, but can't be certain

  • @efcstoo I'm a Llanelli girl, and am so happy to hear you say that. I'm proud that you had a great experience with people of my hometown, and appreciate greatly your nice words. Good ol' Sosbans! Llanelli am byth (yes it's right :D )

  • is tha in cardiff? xx

  • I'm American, and first heard of this song through a book written by an Englishwoman. I thought it would be ridiculous, but I really like the tune, and the lyrics aren't that bad. I think I've found a new tune to whistle. :)

  • Who beat the allblacks? Who beat the allblacks? The good old sosban fach.

  • this really makes us welsh people look like lumps of shit

  • @thenotsew Indeed, god forbid someone should show national pride in a way that doesn't just involve glaring at Englishman and having drunken fights.

  • @Niiauyr yes but you do know that american people watching this can make fun of us in more ways than they already can :P

  • @thenotsew How does this make us look like Sh*t?

It sums up everything that's great about Wales. This version combines both languages and shows our love of rugby, singing and having a laugh.

  • @ronaldinhollew ...i hate rugby

  • @ronaldinhollew WE ALWAYS HAVE TO BOW TO THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE :(.....and they never respect ours (as in the state and general cunts in power)

  • @thenotsew LOL innit

  • I found Wally / Waldo

  • "who beat the all blacks?" hahaha love it!

  • class song

  • luve how the english ust to think this was a voodoo curse wen it's about cat's and saspans still makes me lol

  • puaj, puaj and more puaj!

  • is this at cardiff shoppin

  • hale wales good old dirty sanches sing it as well

  • national anthems are a huge reflection of national identity. just see the pride of the welsh fans and players alike when they join in the chorus of mae hen wlad fy nhadau...

i've always loved this song we always used to add in the action of the cat scratching little johnny...

there's no better day out then one with rugby fans in wales (although i will admit i am biased)

  • Sounds so jolly. Nobody on the street too interested though!

  • makes me proud to be welsh

  • Only heard the brass band version before.. man these guys are cool ^.^

  • Slag this song all you want, but I tell you this. I'm an Englishman who had the joy of spending the day with Llanelli fans in Reading recently, and it's the best rugby day out I've ever had. You want to learn about really supporting a team and making yourself welcome in a town, then pay heed to the Scarlets fans.

Lllanelli am byth! (hope that's right!)

  • @efcstoo well said butty

  • @efcstoo Two L's but yeah, spot on about llanelli but include a massive amount of wasters, alcs and bag heads etc

  • @efcstoo yeah you got it right mate

  • Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi

Gwlad beirdd a chantorion enwogion o fri

Ei gwrol ryfelwr, gwlad garwyr tra mad

    Tros ryddid collasant eu gwaed.

    Gwlad Gwlad,

    Pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad,

Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau

O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau

  • so this is Calcifer's saucepan song...

  • omg you were here searching for that too? how great :DDD

  • I love how 7 people have now thumbs-up-ed this! It's my favourite book and my favourite film ever! (everyone else's reaction: "You mean there's a BOOK?!" My reaction: "You mean there's a FILM?!")

  • @faye159 Hehehe. I always wondered...

  • @faye159

    lol XD

    my thoughts exactly!

  • @faye159 Exactly how I found it to! XD Can't you see this now?

  • @faye159 HMC FAN <3

  • @faye159 Thank goodness, I thought it was only me. ;)

  • @faye159 Kinda yes.

  • @faye159 Aghhh! That's exactly what I want to comment! And we even have the same name. Ha ha

  • The poor English do not have a national anthem. What they do have is a dreadful durge about a Queen of German ancestry, i.e., a durge dedicated to an individual - nothing to do with the great nation of England.

Poor souls ! They need to get up off their knees, form a Republic and pension off the 'not-so-Royal-Family'. What a dysfunctional rabble they are to be sure.

  • Mae'r ddau yn y canol yn edrych pe taen nw'n gorffod darllen y geiriau oddi ar gefn y sandwichbord

  • were doing a street dance to this

  • sry maketoast in advance!, but i think every 1 know what i ment

  • NOT SHIT song above, see 5 posts below!!!

  • proud of your cuntry.

even a shit song, offas dyke hadrians wall, u roman noesed fuck wit worshiping a german queen, or head of state if u like. U only wanna b like us!!!

  • Not with that bad spelling, and lack of intellect.... and unable to be comprehensive ... and arrogant.... and angry.... I dont think so, Besides i dont worship such parliamentary segment... However who really gives about national anthems? their all pointless, since after all we all live on the same planet!

  • my teacher got mad at us because we couldnt pronounce the word llawr...

  • I'm not Welsh myself (Dutch actually), but I love this song, and Wales! Cymru am byth :)

  • proudofmycountry1989,,

ok, your proud of your country...

    dont disrespect other countries...

    childish,, very childish...

  • Just been reading the comments - this is sung in Howl's Moving Castle? I never read the book but I love the anime film. This makes me so happy XD I have to read the book.

Ta waeth, yaayy, sosban fach XD

  • Proudofmycountry1989 ... now THAT'S what you call a shit song... The English anthem is on one person who will soon be a king. The Welsh National anthem is about a whole country!

"The land of my fathers, the land of my choice, the land in which poets and minstrels rejoice, the land who's stern worriers were true to the core, while bleeding for freedom of yore. Wales! Wales! Fav'rite land of Wales! While sea her wall, may nought befall, to mar the old language of Wales."... Need I go on?

  • GUISE I FOUND WALDO!

  • ahahahaha

  • yah! calcifer sings this song! It's my first time to hear this... ^^

when i saw them performing, i always saw howl with suliman's 'twanging' guitar while calcifer sings!! ^^

  • I was so hoping I would find comments like this. <3

    Oh Calcifer~

  • is this in cardiff?

  • dai iawn!

  • Haha, so this is Calicfer's Saucepan Song? Heh, I can actually better imagine Howl singing this in a severe spazz attack moment rather than Calcifer using it as a lullaby, but nevertheless, it's funny~♪

  • I just reread HMC and--this is making me ridiculously happy, imagining the whole lot singing this.

  • I was in a Welsh regiment and we sang this on route matches.Happy, happy days.

  • I lovees It i Do ..

Learnt it in Llangrannog !! :)

  • Very well performed!

Love Sosban fach! A proper Welsh rugby song!

  • Ah! the good old Welsh song "Bring My Saucepan Back".

  • Sosban Fach Means - Little Saucepan

  • gotta say what the eck r they on about

  • Little saucepan boiling on the fire.

  • Lol I saw these at a game a long time ago brilliant XD

  • I'm English, and had to look this up! Well, I guessed it must be a Welsh rugby song, but when I first read Howl's Moving Castle (~10 years ago), I don't think we had internet at home, and I'm almost certain YouTube and Wikipedia didn't exist!

  • Actually, can't you imagine a drunk Calcifer and drunk Howl singing this?Depends on if you read the book or watched the movie, though.

  • I could definetly see them singing this XDDD

  • LOL, I can't imagine being lulled to sleep by it. XD I can kinda imagine him singing it, though, although I imagine there would be less guitar involved. 83

  • Aha! So this is what calcifer sings in Howl's moving Castle! Brilliant! XD

  • He sings this is Howl's Moving Castle?

    The film?

    Or the book? ;o

  • Not the film. Though I really would like to hear billy crystal sing it..*heehee*

It's mentioned several times in the book as calcifer's "saucepan song". =]

  • Ahh!! I've been meaning to get the novel but I've not got around to buying it XD!

I've not actually watched Howl's Moving Castle in English...Dub's kinda annoy me xD!

    -sigh-

I absolutly love the film though <3

  • The film is amazing! The book isn't exactly the same so it's like reading something totally original with all the character's you love from the movie! The book is beautifully written and I believe Miyazaki did great justice to the adaptation. If you ever read a book, this would be the one to read. Sophie and Howl have a very funny relationship in the book. It's much more complicated than in the movie. ;]

  • Awwhh that's good to hear ^_^!!

I love reading & I hate seeing the film first but I just couldn't stop myself..

Howl's moving castle seems such a simple film but it never fails to make me smile and get me really excited xD!

    Ah~ I'm too simple xD!

  • Sometimes the simplist things in life reap the greatest pleasures! =]Maybe it's best that we saw the movie first, because when I read the book, I was just immediately entranced by it. Miyazaki did an excellent job with the setting of the movie as well.

I love reading very much too, but I haven't been able to find the time to read many books until I discovered Diana Wynne Jones's books. All of her writings are very beautiful. And simple! XD (In a good way!)

  • I've never read any of her stuffs XD!

At the moment I'm really into Terry Pratchett...I have been for years but I'm re-reading all the books I've already read and I'm falling in love again haha.

He's not simple in the slightest...and that's what keeps you reading. It's genius I swear! XD!

It's scary how excited I get over the prospect of a good book O.o!!

I'm also spazzing over the soon release of the new Twilight series book XD! Edward Cullen <3 ;p

  • Calcifer sings this in the novel. (Chapter 3, page 48)

It's refered to as "a gentle, flickering little song" that had the word "saucepan" in it.

  • Hahah!! 'Who beat the all blacks..'

I'm sure that's not in the original!

    Ahahah <3

    Cymru am byth ;p

  • nope noy in the original lol, but guess who started singing that? the english :) good ol sosban fach

  • the english started singing a WELSH song?

  • no no not at all lol, i think the english were singing it in a random game because the llanelli beat a new zealand side, so the english created a chant who beat the all blacks.... good ol sosban fach. mthis was in 1972*

  • Hahaha xD!

Yeah...I didn't realise the English came up with it though ;p

    Cheers for that ^_^

  • Saxon why are you even watching this

    Cymru an byth!

  • you go an dfuck you self wales the best

  • you son of a bitch

  • Excellent !! I'm English and old enough to remember England getting stuffed every year by Barry J, Gareth E and JPR etc. Max had a TV programme which, it has to be said, was extremely funny. Glad to see his memory perpetuated. Agree with Tilehurst in every respect - the Welsh singing was always a feature of their rugby games - lost to a large degree though in the comfy seated surroundings of the MS.

    Well done boyos !

  • An amazing song. The sort of thing we can only dream of singing round Wembley.

I'm English but I'll admit when a song like that is better than some of the turgid shite we come out with.

  • My mother is from Llanelli and she used to sing this to me wen i was small.I knew it was about a small saucepan but never knew the literal translation! She left wales when she married my father and she never lost her welsh accentSadly she never taught me any welsh other than a few rhymes and songs .Brings back great memories

  • I have the same childhood memories of my mother singing this song to me as well. She went to school in Abersoch and learned Welsh there, although she had no Welsh blood in her that we know of. However I am now a pensioner myself, and still remember bits of this song which I sing to my Welsh granddaughter who giggles because I only know bits of it now. I love this version, and have sent it to all those who have had to put up me trying to remember the words for years!

  • Boyce Zone rock...they are always there...every international, Keep it up boys!

    CYMRU AM BYTH!

  • I just love this song!

  • Brilliant!

  • I love this song! *dances*

  • if only the welsh fans belted out these old songs in every match wales played these days like they did in the golden welsh rugby years it would bring more passion back and imtimidate the oppisition c'mon WALES

  • why dont they sing the way they used too back then cmon boys ..the singing made the squad play with passion ...bring it home

  • GOOD SONG I SING IT AT SCHOOL

  • I sang it at Gwersyll Llangranog

  • Haha, good ol llangranog, the basis of most south wales schooling:P

  • da iawn hogia...

  • great vid
