Considering the circumstaces of Kirk's birth and therefore his whole life were changed (because of Nero/re:alternate timeline), it's amazing the Kobayashi Maru THIRD attempt was just as described in Wrath of Khan.
u know jj abrams plays a mean keyboard. look up "cool guys don't look at explosions" by the lonely island. and maybe look at other lonely island things, its cool stuff.
I have to say, I (and my older brother and great aunt who was growing up watching the show) are MAJOR trekkies and when we saw the commercial were like; "We refuse to see this movie."
But then a friend bought us tickets and we didn't want to be rude and decline. We went and watched it... and afterwards, let's just say we won't be so wary about the sequel! :)
I am a firm Star Trek TOS fan; my heart is such an oldie even though I'm only nineteen. However, that being said, I think nu!Trek is fascinating in its own right.
I believe it is completely different from TOS, but not bad. I was dissapointed that the relationship between Kikr/Spock was massacred, but I take hope that it just means building their relationship back up in the 2 sequels will make up for it.
Do I love TOS? You bet your butt I do. Do I think nu!Trek was good? Definitely. :)

i eat sleep and breath star trek, however this movie did not feel like star trek, it felt like i was watching a episode of Battestar Galactica. The warp looks like "jumping" so bad. JJ did a very very bad job on this movie in my opinion. I wont be seeing the next one. (if they make it)

It shouldn't warp faster if it is based in the exact same time frame. Technology does not just change because this fool directs the damn movie with computer simulated crap. For 40 years star trek warp has not changed until now. And it could not possibly be faster than tng considering how far into the future tng is.

Maybe because I'm female I went in expecting something different and that's what I got. I got a Kirk Spock film like JJ says in his interview. I even got a great surprise with Uhura and Spock- who I never would have put together yet somehow loved it! Don't worry about the technology. Unfortunately we can't go backwards. Just look at the story.
