The protest is more specifically directed at the fees and cost of Scientology. Before you are indoctrinated, you have to pay several fees and then pay to be scanned by an "E-meter" and all sorts of other space alien related stuff (Xenu). Religion should be free, even though if Scientology was free, it is so outlandish and stupid most people won't want to believe in it anyway.
