  • I bought the spirit model (without tools or case), a few weeks ago. I think it's a perfect multitool. Some may quibble about the serrated edge, but to my mind, it's not meant to be a bushcraft blade, it serves as a simple everyday cutter. I love everything about it; the look, the feel, the design, everything. Top quality.

  • @tidalpoolreflection I still use mine, and think its the best multitool I've owned. I dont mind a serrated blade on my MT, because its not my knife, its my tool. they can always be ground off :) its just a well made tool that feels great in hand with no hotspots when using the pliers.

  • @knivesandstuff I concur :) thanks friend

  • I subscribed to you because of this video a while ago and stumbled upon it...as I type this I'm fondling my Victorinox Super Tinker which I purchased because of you. I'm saving up for this bad boy or the SOG B66-N or the Leatherman Charge TTi...i don't know which

  • @NJMevec2 I dont know about the Sog, but I recently tried a tti again (1 year ago) and I hated it after using the swiss. sold the TTI 1 hour after receiving it in the mail.

  • @NJMevec2 sog sucks..... the only good tool is the pliar the rest is shit the screw driver broke in half the scissors were so cheap and the retaining pin 4 the rachet thingnie was missing....i m not sure about ur model cause i don't go on their site no more cuz i guet pisse.... their machete sucks as well but me knife sogzilla aint bad but its ugly. peace

  • Yeah, its nice stuff.

  • The leatherman looks really flimsy compared to a victorinox or atleast that part of the video it did

  • got it in the mail today. beautiful tool. thanks again for the great review.

  • @prometheus19799791 Cool. I bet you are going to love it.. Merry XMAS.

  • i'm glad the corkscrew is not attached. i never found myself needing to open a bottle of wine when out and about. plus they always get caught on everything. do all the tools lock?

beautiful tool. wonderful review. thank you.

  • @prometheus19799791 I agree. Corkscrew is not useful. each tool is individually locking with its own spring bar

  • @knivesandstuff i bought one based on this review today. well done. the large screw driver isn't supposed to be a prybar, the chisel is meant to be the prybar/ crate opener. i was looking at a schematic on the page i purchased this from. looking forward to receiving it. thanks again.

  • @knivesandstuff That's not true! I have used it very successfully at untying tight knots. Really, give it a try :)

  • @FlorinU lol.. i use the awl :) I've lost the screw and all the accessories to a packing box somewhere :(

  • Can you say that Victorinox are the best multitools?

  • @MackilleM Not definitively no.. I have not used every brand. I can say that this tool is the best I've used. I just like it a lot more than most of the current leathermans I've been using. I compared it with the Charge TTI which was just crap.. like a seconds or something.. the Wave might be a better on.. but so far.. this is far above in quality.

  • Thank you. Can you say something about Victorinox Swisstool Spirit 39 (3.0239.L) and Victorinox Swisstool Plus 39 (3.0339.L)?

  • I got this tool after watching your review. Thank you. I am satisfied.

  • @shidunce Good to hear. I still like my one a lot.

  • Is the fact that none of the tools lock a problem for your applications of the tool? Over here, in the UK, it's probably an advantage to have a none-locking blade for legal reasons.

  • @TheProgrammer93 sorry, they are all individually locking. each tool is like a lockback folder design. its the best ive ever used.

  • I just pulled the trigger on this, but mine will have the spearpoint blade and no extra spanner tools. Now that youve had this a while, do you still use it/like it?

  • I have the swisstool spirit also and i like it. I don’t need another multitool! The blade of it is special/different, but I always carry a knife (folder, boot or neck knife) so it’s not a big deal.

  • I agree with you on the difference between the two. The Leatherman feels a bit cheap compared to the Victorinox. I've tried both and the latter just feels like it's better made. I don't know how else to describe it.

  • great review!

  • How much is this kick-ass knife?

  • Its not misconception..... I picked up a swisstool x a few months ago and recently bought a Victorinox Spirit X with the plain edge blade..... Ive had more Leathermans then you could shake a stick at and i sitill carry my Juice KF4 when i want small and alot of capability.... However i think alot of Leatherman Heads would be pleasently surprised if they picked up a Vic... And probably stop carrying their leathermans.

The SwissTool X is freakin BOMBER.....

  • are all 3 tools in a same bag and how much do they all cost tell me one by one 1st 2nd what is the last tool called!

  • Great video mate you have swung my vote to my next multi tool ! I can tell by your hands that you actually work for a living (not too hard I hope !) that proves to me you know what is useful and what isn't ! Cheers

  • @rutti78 thanks. nutnfancy just did a good & long.... review in high def whic is nice to view. its an outstanding tool. i use it daily in my knifemaking

  • Thanks for the great video, helped me decide to get a Spirit plus. Just got it and its really well made. People shouldn't fear the serrated blade, just get a Sharpmaker and sharpening serrations is just as easy as sharpening a plain edge knife. The Spirit X has a plain edge blade, which I found redundant as I carry a plain edge knife anyway, so I got the Spirit plus w/ratchet and leather sheath.

  • glad you are liking it. I use mine every day. its an awesome tool.

  • in your opinion which of the spirit models is the best?

  • I cant say, because I only have this one. I do like it though I think there are only minor differences on accessories and blade shapes.. ie.. scissors or second blade etc.

  • I'm going to guess that you are from New Zealand?

  • dont need to guess when its on my channel page,... LoL

  • I actually didn't look on your channel page, I can tell the difference between an Australian and a New Zealand accent.

  • hehe.. I'd hope you can tell.. Auzzies are so different :D

  • Kind of a useless talent I have...LOL

  • Thank You for good review!

I got two such pices after watching this video )

  • You will enjoy them. I use mine primarily for little things related to my knifemaking. great tool

  • enjoy your reviews, nice camera work and worthwhile commentary, just recieved my Spirit, very impressive, thanks for helping in decision to buy

  • glad I can help.

  • dude nice scar on your thumb, i have the same scar on my left thumb

  • @sasquatchhunter200 Heh.. That one healed up nice and clean. Cant even see it almost

  • yeah, mine was a good bleeder though :)

  • got bit by ur knife? :) almost got bit by my Flash II today haha

  • Thanks for a good review. Yeah, nice pair a' mitts; what d'y do for a living, ax-murderer? Steady, mate. Joking.

  • An Axe-Murderer? Now that's a fun way to take out the rats ;)

My poor soft hands get to type all day on a computer.

  • Nice review. Ya, the cuts and damage to your hands makes it pretty believable you use your tools a lot and don't earn your living as a hair dresser.

  • LoL.. actually my soft delicate fingers do typing as a software developer when I am not ruining them making knives :D

  • You've got some nice calloused fingers. Looks like you give your tools a workout! Great video.

  • yeah.. My "tool" gets a great work out.. LoL..

Its mostly from sword practice and the grinders etc. more than the knives..

  • The Spirit feels better quality because of the highly polished finish. It's great, no doubt about it, but it makes the screwdrivers a lot more slippery. They don't "bite" as well as Leatherman's. Also, I don't like the blunt nose pliers, needlenose are far more versatile. Another thing is that the file is casehardened and will start to flake after awhile.

  • Thanks.. Glad you like it.. if you tell me what you like most.. it will help with future ramblings :D

  • Sure.. I use it in Hobby Knife making.. Almost everything.. File, Pliers.. Chisel.. the lot.. all work great.. :D

  • I like how the lock release buttons are on the side.

Looks more streamlined than my Wave.

The original Leatherman was enough for me.

    This VIC looks good.

I'm not into the weight of most of these tools.

  • You've gotta remember that the swisstools tend to weigh a lot more than the leatherman.

I had a swisstool. I loved it until I lost it! My favorite feature was that the tools where 100% accessible from the outside, well except the pliers but I never really use those. I might go out and buy a black oxide swiss tool one of these days. They're just such good tools. Even though they are heavier I don't mind because the quality is superb.

  • the Charge Tti is 8.5oz, the Swisstool is 7.7ounces.. not sure where you got the weight specs from.. leatherman have a lot of lighter tools.. but that means less equipment too. The Tti is the only comparable leatherman and its heavier :D

  • Oh, well I guess I just assumed that this tool was like my swisstool that was about 10 oz +

It is a different model though.

  • 10OZ? god... which one is that? is that the original squarish one?

  • Yep

  • I carry the original SWissTool as my edc multi-tool. I love it.

  • Awesome review. (didn't expect anything less, lol.) I've never seen a Vice-Grips Leatherman before. Good lord, now I want it!! lol.

    Ahhhhhhh...such an exensive hobby. [sigh]

  • My Leatherman Wave almost matches this to a T. All tools on the outside and when open the edges of the handles are rounded for comfort. That mini chisle is a good idear and I like the sheepsfoot blade. Might reprofile my leatherman like that.

  • I used to own the Charge TTi 154cm model.. and this certainly feels Better and nicer.. The tools are just handier.. I'm getting a new Charge with S30V blade.. one to carry, one for kit.

  • Hey thoses extras are nice. Good to keep in a seperate kitbag
