The low E on a four string bass is indeed around 41hz, however, given the depth of the note in this song, it's highly likly that Victor was using an octaver. If he played a 5 string on that particular song, the low B string is about 32hz. That's pretty dang low.
This and another band are the only ones where I can listen to any song, even if I haven't heard it before, and love it. With Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, there's no such thing as an "alright" song.
@se7en1976 dude theres no such thing as "real bass" it's a type of frequency if you want to use a synthesiser to create a bass in genres such as dubstep it works because you have to automate every single wobble and design a sound it's pretty hard to do, but yeah i love bass guitar as i'm a bassist and victor is awesome and the bass in this song is awesome.
@se7en1976 Why is it a sin? Sub only provides playback of lowest frequencies that your speakers are not able to play. With small(ish) speakers a lot of deep bass information is lost.
@LeneKosti most subs are horrible droney rubbish that doesnt replicate sound truthfully. No musical instrument can get down to 15-20Htz, yet the sub can. Ask most audiophiles and they will say that a sub merely gets in the way of a good set of speakers.
@se7en1976 E-string on bass guitar is 41hz... Now show me a bookshelf speaker that goes that deep(in reality, not on paper). You mostly hear harmonics! And size DOES matter when dealing with bass!
So groovy... Victor Wooten is god!

Silly dubstep kids, bass is for bluegrass.

I read in a Victor Wooten interview that a friend of his who runs a speaker store uses this song to test out woofers.

@se7en1976 also it's quite hypocritical to insult synth technology as the drums in this group are played on a synthaxe drumitar.

Aww, my parents had this song on the cd. I remember this one only and the cd had a fat pink hippo on it in space with sunglasses. Ahh, childhood :)
