I had my hands stepped on too,fingers squished & broken as a child.I remember the searing pain shooting up my arm,going into my back. Excruciating pain.Biting back my pain,trying not to cry so it wouldn't get worse.Terrible way to live.Terrible memories to give a child.Now I'm an adult but I still remember what it felt like & always will.
Victims are not responsible. Those "shouldn't haves" that's sad. But that's reality, how victims think. The best way for victims to survive is to get away, even if temporarily. Eventually the person will get away permanently and be able to find joy in their own lives. Children need to be taught to recognize abusers --that keep abusing even after the child is grown. So many adult (victims as children) victims get stuck with the abuser still abusing them even after the phys abuse stops.
